GTA IV is the best in the series because it took a realistic route in which i like very much. Also, it had a good storyline and amazing gameplay i just hope that they add more variety in what you can do this time around in the upcoming GTA V like robbing a store (Saints Row)

i enjoyed GTA 4 .
The people who keep comparing it to san andreas are wrong IMO ..both are great games but each has it's own approch on how to do things .

Dont be silly man. How can you say GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas were rubbish and repetitive? GTA 4 had the MOST REPETITIVE missions of them all! Everyone knows that. You are real crazy for saying that and you certainly aint no real GTA player or else you would not be saying that!

GTA 3 - Now looking at it, it looks limited in terms of it's gameplay features, but it is totally irrelevant to what GTA 3 meant to gamers back then. It was the first GTA in 3D and the first game of it's kind, a free-roaming, open-world city, crime/gangster/action game. This is the title that made everybody love GTA to begin with, because everyone was was new to this new type of genre. It totally blew everyone away, including myself. No one had ever experienced a game like this before - this is what made GTA what it is today.

GTA Vice City - The best GTA title ever made. It had the best storyline, the best missions, the best setting, and the best characters. It had a brilliant selection of 1980s hits for it's soundtrack to complete the excellent make up of the game. The gameplay was the best out of them all and it was TOTALLY varied - the FIRST GTA to have gang wars, take over territory, buy/own businesses and property, rob stores, sell drugs, change clothes, motorbikes. How can you say Vice city was repetitive and rubbish? You must have been on crack to say that my friend!

GTA San Andreas - The second best GTA title ever made, due to it's huge size and added variety of gameplay that was already present in Vice City. The game was just HUGE, a whole state with three major West Coast Cities, varied landscapes like forests, mountains, valleys, deserts, rivers, coastline etc. It took gang wars to another level buy allowing you to directly recruit gang members and take control over entire neighbourhoods and sections of the city. The customization options are the best ever in a GTA game - lifting weights, jewllery etc. This time you could burgle houses aswell. The gameplay was in NO WAY repetitive. The soundtrack was just as good, perefct for the era the game was set in. You had that long cross country race, the dancing in the clubs, man how can you say it was repetitive? You dont know nothing!

GTA 4 - I'm not gonna talk too much about this. All I have to say is that I enjoyed it and I liked it, but I still felt letdown and dissapointed at the same time, more so than the former. It had a good storyline, set of characters, brilliant character animation and physics, and probably the best-looking game rendition of NYC ever. But the game was lacking in too many areas and this is the GTA that was VERY REPETITIVE. GTA 4 regressed rather than progressed unlike the previous-gen GTA titles. Therefore it's the worst one of them all and with all of this current-gen advanced PS3 tech at it's disposal, Rockstar blew the chance to make the best GTA ever.

I'm gonna buy Liberty City Episodes for my PS3 so hopefully R* can redeem themselves with me there.

EDIT: @ Dark Witness - you could shoot someone in the head while they driving and see them slumped dead on the steering wheel in GTA San Andreas. That was always possible to do in San Andreas if you ever played it, GTA 4 was not the first.

Yeah. See...that's the problem. Judging by your grammar, you're down with "the thug life" anyway. Those are the only people that enjoyed San Andreas. The storyline can't be taken seriously at all. I've considered taking Eminem seriously...but not this. Vice City is the best of the old ones. Two words: Phil Collins. Still, not much can be said for them. The characters have plastic personalities, the missions ARE repetitive, and gang fights? Who fricking cares about gang fights? What are you, five?

What was wrong with my grammar? I spoke normal, standard English, there was no use of any kind of street or hip-hop slang, so what so-called 'thug life' was you looking at? And whats your problem? Many people enjoyed San Andrea, including suburban, IT geeks who spend they're whole lives in front of a PC screen. The game gained worldwide acclaim from gaming industry critics and professionals and it sold a record amount of millions of copies. If they happen to be down with "thug life" too, then so be it, deal with it.

I can agree with you saying Vice City was the best of the old ones at least we are on the same page there. But this just goes to show much you know about GTA in general - there were no Phil Collins tracks in Vice City's soundtrack. There is nothing Phil Collins-related in Vice City. You big dummy. What the hell do you think the GTA were supposed to be about? The main themes of GTA games are ALL based on organized-crime and criminal gangs. That was the main selling point of the franchise to begin with. Dont you know this? Or are you so brainless and retarded? Many people cared about gang fights missing from GTA 4, ask anyone major GTA fan, they will tell you that was one of the major missing features of GTA 4. Many fans also complained that they could'nt build up their own gangs and take over turf, thats what Mafias and other criminal gangs do in real life, they have fights, wars and kill each other for territory and money. Whats being a 5 year old got to do with it? What if I had said, "who cares about bright coloured space-suited heros killing make-believe aliens?", does that mean you are a fool for liking Halo 3? Of course not. I think you are forgetting that GTA is just a game and it's a crime-based game, but gang fights happen in real life criminal societies anyway, so your point is invalid. for me personally:Gta3 was probably the best single player game ever to grace the ps2, and Liberty city stories multyplayer on the psp was the most fun I've ever had in any game,ever,ever,ever.

P.S I'm sorry for calling you a dumbass but the reasons people had no love for gta4 are totally valid, looking at you driving physics and fruity storyline.
