I read these sometimes just simply to see technical differences...Where as I rarely buy multiplatform games anyway (just because most are not very "good" games...R6 Vegas and The Darkness are two recent acceptions)...there is no reason for d'bags to fight about it, but I guess its inevitable...

this one is rather well put together...unlike gamespots "you decide" mentality that results in poop flying everywhere...

Interestingly though they claim the PS3's OS in game footprint to be roughly 35MB worth of RAM...hardly...The PS3 launched while using nearly 90 precious megs of the XDR RAM...and 1.70 firmware update pushed that down to just under 60MB...While the 360 has been around 32MB since launch...Sony claims to be further addressing the OS requirements, but their blog mentioned that 1.80 "had no OS optimization included"...I would bet that this is a huge reason for no in game XMB yet...once they get the footprint down considerably more is when we will see that stuff...as long as that doesn't bump it back up to 90MB or something...

that right now is hands down the biggest problem between the PS3 and 360...and aside from the difficulty for coding the PS3; is why where such drastic problems with multiplatform games...this review at least points out that more recent games are much closer, and in some areas better, than the early attempts...

PS3 wins Vegas & Oblivion IMO, the others are for 360 (although most of those games were compared already by gamespot and were labeled as 1st gen PS3 games)

by the way, Sonic looks horrible on 360, but even worse on PS3, and has framerate issues? I don't get it!:D

Doesn't win one single battle lol. What are you talking about #7 RB6 is way more vibrant on the 360 and has better lighting as thats the look the devs wanted in the first place(have read about it)

you know what do not make sence ? is to compare a port to the orginal game.this days all the games made in the 360 ported to the ps3.and if they are made by two diffrent teams than they are made by diffrent talent but with limitation ,since publisher do not want to pis* of sony or microsoft by making one copy significantly better , yoou should not compare them. when you compare exculsive than you compare them in term of : graphic, sound , gameplay ............ there is 100s of way to compare them , so overall you are not comparing the games but what the mechaine can deliver in that respect if the game take full advantage of it, in that way you know what mechine is better, and multi-platforms do not do that..you get what i mean .....

Maybe because I'm too cheap to go out and rent both versions of the same game to see for myself. It's good to have someone else do it for me :). Anyways, it looks like the underrated PS3 is coming along very nicely. I for one can see how much potential the PS3 has. Every month it's being improved on with firmware upgrades. It's a completely different system then when I bought it 6 months ago and I like that

Yo Wargasm, When the original XBOX was released it was essentially a pc in a console box, so you see, even though the XBOX was released a year later it really didn't suffer the effects of being something that was foreign to develop for. Development wise it benefited from developers knowledge of programming for the pc. I don't understand why people overlook this obvious fact. The same can be said about the 360. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. In fact, many developers have gone on to praise MS for doing this. At the same token you have to be excited for the (Different) approach Sony has taken with it's tech. The possibilities are unpredictable with the cell and that's exciting to me, as well, to many tech junkies no doubt.

I know people hate to compare multiplatform games. But how else can you tell which console is better(assuming you care to know in order to know which one to buy; and you can't afford both). How can one compare let's say Lair with any xbox 360 game... or Gears to a PS3 game? Some games are designed to look in a certain way, theme colors, controls, game play that just can be compared to other games. For example, a game like Forza(X360) being compared to GT(PS3). How can two games designed with two different goals and with a complete set of feature be compared? One must say, look the PS3 can do better... look at GT compared to Forza.... but then another person comes and say... let's compare GT with the upcoming new PGR which is designed to look better than any racing game. Maybe both consoles have not reach the best they can produce.... and all this comparison are useless.... but they do give someone interested of what the consoles are offering NOW in terms of 3rd party game quality which can help them choose which console to buy.

.when multi-platforms games made by 2 different/ or the same teams they aim at the same thing with the same game engine. few difference could exist( becuse it has diffrent architcure,way of programming ... ) such as framrate, brightness..... that normally gamers will not notice unless they are fanboy from the other camp , in this case they will see it clearly , scientist still cannot figure out why.look at madden 07 why it does not take advantage of the PS3 HDD or the far more high memory bandwidth the 360 have.while in exclusive the game made with limitation that posed by the hardware it self nothing else like the engine has to run also in the other platform or what so ever.in case of UE3 which run most games they are modfied in exculsive to fully optmize that platform now that will tell which platform can deliver better graphic,AI..... , while in multi-platform they optmize UE3 ,for example, in each system sepratlly to reach the specfic shared Y level of AI .... this will show which machine can deliver the same ,limited, code better. generally there is 3 reasons to make exculsive 1)one platform have significant advantage in one aspect that the devloper intrested in 2)money paid which open the devloper eyes to the first reason 3)combination of both

as both games play good its fine....The developers try to make the game as good as it gets for both Ps3 and 360...besides there both playable on both console which is the good news.

But since the update to the Xbox 360's version, there identical, regardless, this does show that in EVERY case the ps3 version will suffer unless given months and months to a years more development time due to the cell/rsx difficulty.

UBI is doing a good job helping bring the ps3 versions up to par. I think that's what's up with games like Assassins Creed, The Xbox 360 version is the one always shown, I'm sure it's been finished way before the ps3 version but there waiting on release so it simultaneously releases all at once and have them looking/playing very similar. The ps3 will take months longer to bring it all up to par. Sony fans should be glad their doing this, this way there wont be that inevitable lagging ps3 version.

Ok we could all tell that the original xbox was more powerful than the ps2. The reason being is because the the Xbox hardware came out 2years after the ps2, and was also easier for western developers to come to grasp with because of the Direct X development environment. Which is pretty much the standard in america. Now lets look at the PS3 and 360, The same strength for the 360 comes into play again, the Direct X environment. Now the PS3 might be more powerful, im not sure IMHO opinion i think they are about equal, back to the topic the PS3 is harder to develop for so its going take more time to get the graphics out of the PS3, just like the PS2. PS2 graphics were butt compared to the XBOX1, till the latter half of it life cycle when devs finally got the hang of the machine, Games like GOW1&2, and GT4 are signs that developers finally got the hang of the machine cuz the graphics on those games were of xbox quality and i will even go as far as to say GT4 look better than forza 1. Also these machines started there life around the same time, so they hardware was at the same limit for both. Where the xbox had hardware from two years later than ps2. so for the most part the games are gonna look the same.

folks,i have a 360,will be getting a ps3 when it drops in price,then i have both.
i noticed in some games dependant on the enviroment ps3 won,then next screen 360 won.

They seems to flip depending on the resolution.

The PS3 seems darker at 720 while the 360 seems darker at 1080.

I wonder why that is?.

It's was a simple observation based on what I saw. The PS3 images TO ME look darker when displayed in 720p While the 360 images look darker when displayed in 1080p.

I want to know why that is? You people are to F'n touchy when the brand gets thrown out there. Can somebody who knows or at least has an educated guess tell me why?

most people who`s not fanboys know that up until this point most multiplatformgames have been better on the 360. What`s also known is that games can be great on the PS3, if they take the time and resources to do so as in Oblivion.

If the PS3 manages to get more consoles into the homes (drop the price will you Sony), companies will hopefully be forced to makes better ports or doing them in another order than now, to get people to buy their games on PS3 (at least the hardcore, the mainstream players don`t tend to notice framerate drops or slightly worse graphics). But as the PS3 is more difficult to make games for and the games which has come out so far have been more or less launch games with the aim to get the game out, regardless of in what state. As game developers get more familiar with the hardware.

With that said, Sony needs to get better tools out to developers (which they`ve started trough EDGE and the rumored cooperation with Epic on Unreal Engine), convince them to make games for PS3 first and then port to 360 or at least makes sure PS3 games are not rushed, because it will be harder to sell a 600$ console when the majority of multiplatform games can be found for a cheaper price and with better performance.

Most of the games look better on PS3 in my opinion.

Vegas while a little darker has some better lighting in there that works for the game more than the X360 version with everything brighter and windows you can see being kinda bluish silver colored on the outside while on the PS3 they look like real windows and you can't see your character as well. If its dark outside you shouldn't be able to see very well.

Oblivion looks brighter and loads a little faster on the PS3 vs the X360 version. The brighter lighting looks better in my opinion as it should during the middle of the day.

Splinter Cell has flashlights where lightbulbs should be in those screen shots and the darker PS3 version shows off some real lighting. I am shocked to see noone can see that.

Sonic looks better on the X360 than the PS3, but as stated above noone cares the game still has issues.

Marvel UA and Tony Hawks 8 - Looks about the same on both platforms.

Alot of sony boys here like to say that their sony comes out on top when it comes with multiplatform games but stop fooling yourselves. It is a known fact by top magazines that multiplatform games look better on the 360. Rainbow 6, Darkness, Madden 08, etc... The list continues to grow. I'm just glad that I didn't pay $599 for sloppy seconds. Way to go Microsoft!!! :)

One thing is that Japanese will always put their best when they love something . Japanese musicians have shown numerous of times that they still have lots of soul in them and often display respect for the art and the craft . I’ll listen to some Japanese music barely understanding the lyrics but the singing ; the rapping , the guitars riff everything is so well done . I hope they always stay true to who they are because if I’m real with you guys Japanese music and musicians a really some of my favorites .
