I think you get that cheaper i built a rig with amd phenom quad core 2gb ram (now 6gb) 5750 for £352 and this runs mw2 at about 88-120fps at 1080p and crysis at 42-50fps at 1080p

So why can't the same people who were saying that, say the same for PC gaming? You pay more, for better performance, and more functionality. Fair enough if you don't want that and the lower console performance is good enough for you, but there is some double standards going on here.

Other than sheer stupidity , i dont even see the purpose for both extreme spectrums of the argument .

It will be useless as long as pc and consoles dont have the exact same library of titles . Some games are exclusives to consoles and some genre are more represented on consoles ... likewise with some pc exclusive titles and genres .

The only common ground for comparisons is when it comes to multiplatform games . In wich case , if you got a decent enough PC gaming rig , wich isnt hard at all nor that expensive , you'll get better raw performances .

you get very similar performance for just the price of a 5770 which is about $35 cheaper?!? throw that to the CPU and get an X4..Also the X4 cooling is good enough to overclock with stock so no need for extra cooling and thats more money towards a CPU....

and I still average 28~30 fps on Crysis maxed (usually play on high and get 38~45), the 5770 should get you 31~33 on average and you're getting a DX11 card....

Please tell me how people can say the Xbox360 and PS3 are "NEXT GENERATION" systems when 95% of the games on both consoles cannot run above 720p and in some cases run lower res and run at 30fps and not abve 60fps?
PC's have been running in HD resoltuion YEARS before the PS3 or Xbox360 were released. Lets not even mention that those PC's years before could run Anti Alaising 8x multi sampled with gamma correction.
Xbox360 and PS3 cannot even do that and they call them "NEXT GEN"?

Stop with the PC elitism already. Yes we know you can game with better graphics on PC's but it does not work on a couch since you need a table to put the keyboard and mouse. I sit at a desk in front of a computer all day at work, and just want to stretch my legs and sit on my comfy couch holding a controller when I'm playing at home. With PC's you'll always need the keyboard, and if you want to be competitive, also the mouse.

Oh, and the production budgets and just the overall quality of Stalker CoP, Napoleon TW, Chaos Rising, CnC4 and Settlers 7 COMBINED can't even match GoW3 or UC2, or MGS4. Production values are not PC games' strong suit unless they're done by blizzard.

About the games being more expensive, I always sell old games that I don't play anymore and get a part of my money back, they're always buyers for console games. Selling PC games used is much harder if not impossible if you bought it from Steam.

Look, I was a PC gamer in the PS2 era, but now that the consoles have "good enough" graphics in HD, I don't bother anymore.

Video Gaming is a hobby and entertainment! So let's not kill ourselves defending our chosen platform.

We all love console gaming as it is fun and easy. great entertainment just by plugging in and turning on.

but this entertainment is a hobby for others like myself and we require MORE to get our fix and that's where PC gaming comes into play. PC gaming is just a way to maximize all the things a console can and can't do, the PC is total control of your gaming experience.

The PC is THE ONLY way to game next GEN as the PC get's the new tech first (at a premium I might add). I mean just look at the difference in the hottest game out right now Battlefield Bad Company 2.

This game is on 3 systems like other multiplats except the PC version isn't some crappy port, it was made to utilize the advantage of the PC and it is the best way to play the game. Now don't get me wrong the console versions are great but as far as graphics, textures, HD, FPS, number of players, online experience, updates, private servers, game customization, Sound, and Team speak, the PC has the overwhelming advantage over the consoles.

ps3 and 360 are fun and have great games (Halo Gow3 U2 KZ2 Gears) but play a game on a PC and you will start to see the world open up.

my first PC game was Oregon Trail and I was hooked as Atari as HUGE as it was had nothing even remotely close to this way back in the early 80's. Adventure, 3rd person shooting, puzzle solving, people in your caravan dying it was all too real and so much to control on our way to Oregon. PC gaming just creates something more to gaming that consoles just can't.

that's why Pc gamers get excited and upset when consolers speak upon the PC recklessly because PC gaming is a hobby that we put time and effort into along with a lot of heart and love especially a hand built PC. Remember people have more love for something they created vs. something they bought off the shelf.

As a hardcore gamer I'm eventually going to buy a gaming PC. PC is more complicated when it comes to wanting to get a game and pop it and play. Is it worth your work of building a PC for a cheap price? Well of course. It's harder to build a PC than it is to buy a console. Then again its harder to mod a console than it is a PC. So if you want easier access to cool mods for your games then you want PC. Your going to have to sacrifice some of your time though if you want a good deal on a gaming PC. I personally don't want to at the moment because I'm fine with the games I'm playing on consoles now.

Games I need to beat on console still:
Heavy Rain, GOW2, Dragon Age(I know its better on PC, I'm not throwing a fit about it though its still fun), FFXIII, and Mass Effect 2. But by time I beat those games these games will be out then I need to beat them lol...

Games I have to beat later:
Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, and Red Dead Redemption. The main 3 that come to my head at the moment.

I even have older games that I may go back and play because I haven't finished them completely. Like GTAIV-TBOGT and Borderlands. Needless to say I have a busy schedule for gaming and I'm not having a problem with fun. Yea it is true console gaming holds back the progress of bigger games. I couldn't imagine having mandatory upgrades to play new games each year though. I also dont think developers want to keep using new tools each time either. I think gaming should have a space in between time so people can be at rest with their current investments. PCs dont have a mandatory each year thank god, but I hear people talk they should. Maybe they dont realize it but if they had it their way that's how it would be. People complain about paying 50$ for xbox live each year think what it would be like to pay for 250+ graphics card or more each year.

Either way PC is powerful but when it comes to who has control over game development it's more complicated than that. Like I said though when I find time and grow of boredom then I will build me one. Some people don't want to play the same things as me though so they already made their investment on a gaming PC. I find the games beautiful in the so the so called 576p graphics lol (chill out guys). I seen games on the PC played in HQ but hasn't changed my thought that console games are beautiful also. People have become to obsessed with numbers and less with reality of how fun the game actually is. Hell you should own them all if you want the ultimate experience..

The specs just bellow the title are a bit misleading. It's only Dirt 2 and Modern Warfare 2 that have been maxed out with AA and AF. Crysis clearly isn't.

I own a slightly better configuration than this one (single 5770, Phenom II X4 955) and Crysis maxed out with AA x 8 and AF goes from 20 - 32 fps. It's great though in intense firefights it can get a bit clunky.

I bet that if I crossfire one more 5770 I will get a significant boost in performance. That or I might get just one single 5870.

Renaming of exe's to fool program, by lowering quality, enabling higher framerates. To be the Benchmark king.

I don't do that anymore. It's not worth the time.

Since we seem to have so many people here gaming on 2 year old rigs that run every game maxed out 1080p without a sweat, wtf is wrong with my pc then? Oh an the PC was built over the summer at a cost of approx $1500 after everything an that doesn't include the monitor or the Zalman 9900 I have to get. An I know it can be built for way less now, my question is not the price so please refrain from commenting on that. I'm just stating it for for extra factual information.

An yet at 720p on metro 2033 I'm seeing extremely low frams on DX10 and about 30ish on DX9 about 30mins into the game. According to the lot of you I should be running at 60fps np? An I've OC'd my GTX275 to FTW specs. So anyone care to comment? I'm not computer illiterate either so don't respond if your gonna respond in a sarcastic or retarded manner. Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
