Seems like my laptop would be okay, but still going for the PS3 version just to be on the safe side. Sad as it would be nice to play XIV while at school.

"GeForce 8800 or higher"

Iv only got a 8600 :(

How much would a 8800 cost?

Bonsai12145903d ago (Edited 5903d ago )

that's surprisingly high. normally pc games require minimum tech that's like 2 or 3 years old. this stuff is like a year and a half old tops.

TheIneffableBob5903d ago (Edited 5903d ago )

No, the 8800 series was released in 2006. That's 3-4 years ago.

You can't really find the 8800 cards anymore unless you go on eBay, but the 9800 GT, 9800 GTX, and GTS 250 are roughly the same thing. You should be able to find them as low as $100 and they're fast enough to run Crysis on high.

The approximate laptop equivalent to an 8800 desktop card would be a GTS 360m or GTX 260m laptop card. On the ATI side, it'd be something like the Mobility HD 4870 or 5850. I'm going off of 3dMark 06 scores here. A 8800 GTS 512 does like 10,000 in 3dMark 06; these laptop cards do around 10,000 to 12,000.

Letros5903d ago

9800 GTX+ is a solid card for this game, $130.

Blacktric5903d ago

8800GT was released in 2007 not 2006.

TheIneffableBob5903d ago

I said 8800 series. That launched in 2006.

Darkfocus5903d ago (Edited 5903d ago )

around 60 bucks CAD for a 512mb version and around 100$ for the 1GB

edit: nevermind I loaded this page in a tab and I didn't refresh the page looks like your questions already been answered

Tricksy5903d ago

they have said that the game will be released with high requirements for PC users. Hopefully that means this game is going to be beautiful and really utilize the PS3's abilities.

qface645903d ago

wouldn't the final build of the game have even higher requirements? since this is the alpha build right?

Blaine5903d ago

@qface64

Not necessarily. The final version would be better optimized and most of the kinks in the code smoothed out. (But, admittedly, my technical knowledge is low--that's why I'm a PS3 gamer. I just pop it in and it plays!)

champ215902d ago

8800gtx is so old now you will be lucky to find it anywhere and there is no point in doing so cause around the 100-150usd mark you an find great gpus that will last the entire gen. play all games maxed out the price of the gpus is paid back due to cheaper cost of games on PC.

Lastly MMO is a whole different game. People prefer to have UI mods so they can play game to their comfort. I am not a fan japanese RPGS infact i cant stand them. However MMO is the last genere id like to play on a console. If PS3 got UI mods that would be a big nod in its favor.

Give me my PS3 Beta already.

Dnied5903d ago

I would imagine all Alpha requirements would need some higher end systems as the code isnt even close to being fully optimized no?

zeddy5903d ago

requirements for the ps3 just own a ps3.

Kurisu5903d ago

And this is why I do all my gaming on consoles :) Really hoping I get in to the PS3 Beta.

ViciousBoston5903d ago

me too Kuriso. I applied once and then once again with the code for FFXIII, I hope the second one dosen't disqualify me.

dougr5903d ago

@ViciousBoston

You won't be disqualified. If you read the rules it says that only the last submission you made will count and all previous submissions will be basically tossed away.

Redempteur5903d ago

nice but'll play it on PS3 with the PSN support , there is no reason it would not work well
