But it clearly looks better as well.

wow, jusmp out bots.

Atelier Annie5912d ago

stating your opinion sony fanboy but if you hook these bad boys up to a 60in you won't see any diffence

piramides305916d ago

At the beggining it seemed Sony was owned by FFXIII Multiplaftorm, now Microsoft is owned by a sh+t version and low sells.

Scarfy5916d ago

Since they only show one load test (unless I've missed the others), one cannot conclude a great deal from this.

However, if you take _this_ test alone, we can guess a few things:

1) Final Fantasy 13 has been highly optimized for the PS3 (likely)
2) The Xbox DVD drive is slow (unlikely)
3) The Xbox HDD is slower (possible)
4) The PS3 Bluray drive is faster than many believe (possible)
5) The PS3's files are better laid out on the disc, with some duplication in places, for optimal loading and performance (highly likely)

Cueil5916d ago

It's probably alot to do with how the data is laid out on the disc... but it loads up pretty fast on my 360 *shrugs* I just got DA:O's expansion so FF13 will have to wait... it shouldn't be hard to pick up it's retarded fighting system

gaffyh5916d ago

oh God, nobody gives a crap about loading times, the game works fine, that's all that matters.

Yes we know Xbox fanboys start doing a victory dance when something like this happens for the Xbox 360, but PS3 fanboys don't have to stoop to that level.

Foxgod5916d ago

Hey, look at the bright side, the 360 version lasts extra long =D
You could consider it to be exclusive extra game hours.

The Wood5916d ago

that was kinda humorous for you...what gives

Game13a13y5916d ago

oh damn, longer load time plus disc swapping plus lower resolution plus no HD sound, one word, GIMPED!!

Tunerboy87325916d ago

The 360's dvd drive spins at 12x compared to ps3's blu ray drive which spins at 2x how is it faster? The majority of ps3 games out require mandatory hdd installs because of its slow blu ray drive.

digger185916d ago (Edited 5916d ago )

Tunerboy8732

Yes the 360's DVD drive is faster to start, but then it gets slower and slower as it reads the disc. Where as the Blu ray drive its speed stays the same throughout the whole disc.

Syronicus5916d ago

Well, taking a quick look back to the Beyonetta threads here on N4G, I would have to disagree with you. It's odd that when a PS3 game is better than the 360 counterpart, nobody cares but when the shoe is on the other foot, then oh-mah-gawd teh PSTripple suxorz!

dirthurts5916d ago

If they compressed the textures of the game, these have to be decompressed before being displayed, which increases the load times. All the time spent loading isn't necessarily time spent reading the disk. Other processes extend this as well.

DaTruth5916d ago (Edited 5916d ago )

We're gonna sit here and say nobody cares, but by tomorrow it will be the hottest news and 1000* on front page!

Like the other article on FFXIII load times currently on the front page hottest news!

Microsoft Xbox 3605916d ago

12x for DVD is not the same as say 12x for Bluray. Just because 12x sounds faster it's irrelevant to Bluray.

BulletToothtony5916d ago

and that's the reason why it needs installs like all the time.. silly fboys

duplissi5916d ago (Edited 5916d ago )

@Tunerboy8732

yes it is physically faster, but you have to consider data density: whereas a dvd is max 9gb and a bd is max 50gb there is more data per square inch on a blu ray than there is on a dvd. add that to the fact that blu ray has a constant linear velocity(disk spins faster as you get to the center to maintain read speed)and dvd is constant angular velocity (disk does not change speeds to accommodate data near the center of the disk)

This is what gaming has come to...

videos comparing load times for multiplat games.

sad

Bubbly5916d ago

Yeah, we want to see the load times for exclusives.

Syronicus5916d ago

Since the release of the PS3, the Xbox camp fanboys have posted countless videos like this trying to boost their argument that the PS3 is a horrible console and that all games are superior on the 360. It's the, "they started it" argument but since that is the truth, it's nice to see some folks post up videos showing the PS3 ports being better. It's as I said early on, it amazes me that when the 360 camp does this crap everybody just cheers it on but when it is done for the PS3 then the question is, who cares...

Xplayer20315916d ago

Why do that continue to bring up comparisons upon comparisons whats the point?

BeaArthur5916d ago

Yeah really, how about we move on past all of this.

Xplayer20315916d ago

Yea I mean really what is the point? Basically if you want to buy it for PS3 buy it. If you want to buy it for 360 buy it. Simply enough right?!

badz1495915d ago

no multiplat games are going through without silly comparisons such as this! even when 1 version is slightly better like 0.5% in terms of frame rate or anything (thanks to lensoftruth), it's victory dance worthy now! - it's sad but true! that's for the cases of nearly identical, mind you! so, you can bet you ass that when there's a clear advantage of 1 version over the other like this, any kind of comparison will do!

The 7 Best Final Fantasy Characters: Unveiling the Legends

While FFVII ranks highly, there's more to the series than one game. Here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best Final Fantasy characters.

220°

The older it gets, the more I respect Final Fantasy XIII

Alex Donaldson: "Hindsight is a hell of a thing, however, and in the years since Final Fantasy XIII, my respect for the decisions its developers made has skyrocketed. In the two Final Fantasy titles since we see both the brilliance and the folly in alternative approaches - and in Final Fantasy VII Remake, we get a more nuanced understanding of what FF13 was trying to accomplish from many of the same development leads."

Einhander1972889d ago

FFXIII is actually one of the best Final Fantasy games.

I also sort of was disappointed at the time, never as much as the bandwagon. But really all the fantastic 3D rendered cutscenes and I actually liked the characters and the story though convoluted was actually fantastic and the ending was extremely emotional. So much budget and time were put into that game Square had such big plans, I actually have always felt kind of bad for how things played out.

I have been thinking for years how great it would be to get all three games on one disk for PS4 or 5.

Nyxus889d ago

I always liked this game, and I agree, a rerelease for current gen would be nice.

Shane Kim887d ago (Edited 887d ago )

Gotta take off the nostalgia glasses. It's the worst FF. Shiva as a bike, I mean come on.

Elda887d ago

Shiva as a bike is strange but saying FFXIII is the worst FF is not at all a fact, that's simply your opinion.

Terry_B887d ago

*One of the 3 equally bad FF's

DivineHand125887d ago (Edited 887d ago )

When I got my series X a year ago, I bought FF13 for nostalgia reasons but ended up being disappointed. When I first played it around the time it launched, I didn't have a lot of experience with final fantasy games, so I enjoyed it. Fast forward to when I played it again, I found that the game had many unnecessary filler moments instead of just giving us meaningful content.

The game is also very linear and a quote on the article said it best. "It is like a sewage pipe that leads to the ocean until it opens up on Grand Pulse."

The story didn't make much sense either and I believe it is my mistake as I played the FF7 remake on PS5 prior which is a night and day difference in terms of pacing, storytelling and likeable characters even though cloud is aloof.

FinalFantasyFanatic887d ago (Edited 887d ago )

Probably was a mistake to play any of the golden era FFs first (e.g. FF6 through FF10), it makes it harder to enjoy some of the FFs that aren't as good. I think FF12 was where major issues with the series started becoming apparent, and it just got worse from there.

FinalFantasyFanatic887d ago (Edited 887d ago )

I didn't really care for it that much, the only saving grace was that it had a better story than 15 (overall it was better than 15) and possibly 12, and even then, you had to read some of it through primers, like reading a book. Plus the battle system was reasonably fun for what it was, even if it was more the spectacle that was exciting for me (e.g. summoning). And to be fair, the 13 trilogy got better with every games, I still don't like Snow though.

Gamingsince1981887d ago

Ff13 is only good if you haven't played a ff before, or any other games that are decent for that matter.

-Foxtrot887d ago

It is in fact no way the best Final Fantasy game, it's one of the worst

Linear corridors, Cutscene, Fight, Cutscene...rinse and repeat

Dialogue and characters are pretty bad, especially Lightning as the main FF hero, they literally said they tried to make a "Female Cloud" and they failed.

Story was pretty awful

I could go on

I think the only alright thing that came from the game was the music.

Elda886d ago

That's not a fact that's your personal opinion. The game sold 11 million copies between its 2009 release up until 2014 including critically reviewed as an 8 out of 10 or an 80 out of 100. The game does have some issues but it's not at all a fact as one of the worst FF games.

-Foxtrot886d ago

Elda

Not just mine mate

A large majority

So….

Traecy886d ago

N4G commenters such as yourself aren't the majority. The game was well received.

i liked the game alot but i didnt like how they handled the terminology.

i dont mind reading data logs but it had soo many.

but i always loved the music and how it looked. the battle system wasnt too bad either.

but i like 13-2 more :)

i still dont understand why we never got a remaster of the trilogy

Eonjay887d ago

Xbox kinda did. Besides the video files of course which are still best on PS3 due to bluray.

Snookies12888d ago

XIII is a pretty solid game, but XIII-2 is WAY better. XIII-2 was one of the few games I decided to go for a Platinum trophy in, early on. Had so much fun the entire way through getting it too!

Eonjay887d ago

Totally agree. FF 13 was okay but 13-2 is my favorite FF game ever.

shinoff2183888d ago (Edited 888d ago )

I hated this to when it released. I haven't much liked a ff game since ff10 as much , aside from ff7remake. I decided to give it another shot on my series x since it's not on a current ps and was liking it quite a bit(just takes me some time to get over things ) until star ocean 2 remake came out I was all over that.

Square should definitely remaster it or something for ps4 ps5

KillerB887d ago

my favorite jrpg trilogy ever
