No Splinter Cell: Conviction Demo For PC

Tomorrow Xbox 360 owners will get their hands on a Splinter Cell Conviction demo. PC owners? Nope, sorry fellas.

treating PC owners like second class citizens, giving people who bought the games LESS freedom than someone who pirated it is funking stupid.

and not making a demo is even worse, Ubisoft, PC gamers don't want your service anymore.

But I'm sure you'll see the wank sales and blame it on piracy or how PC Gaming is dying, but I'm sure the 360 Exclusivity bribe will mean you don't care

EvilCackle5903d ago

Even though you're attacking Ubisoft pretty hard there, and it's deserved criticism, I'm glad you point out that piracy isn't justified. It isn't. It's hurting the developers for decisions made by publishers.

Gun_Senshi5903d ago

but but PC Gaming = Piracy only!

Nevermind the fact that its easier to play pirated games on X360.

ProjectVulcan5903d ago

Im undecided on what to do about this game. I need suggestions. Im a Pc gamer at heart but have all the platforms. I could buy this on Pc, and put up with the nasty DRM and not actually notice it, because im always connected anyway. OR i could wait until there is a crack for the game, and THEN buy it (i dont pirate) and apply the crack to circumvent the brutal DRM. OR i could buy the 360 version, although it would cost me more and just not be as good for me, i have a good PC and want the best looking version i can have.

Final option is just to boycott the whole thing totally because ubisoft are being completely unreasonable regards PC and their appaling treatment of the platform.

Charmers5903d ago

@ vulcanproject - it depends on how strongly you feel about the issue. I would stay clear of the PC version completely, there will be no "noticeable" differences graphically and there are no PC specific enhancements. This game is a straight port through and through.

Now if you are thinking about getting it on the Xbox then essentially you are just rewarding Ubisoft for crapping on the PC. The ideal solution would be to wait till the game is second hand and then purchase it that way. By going the used game route you ensure Ubisoft doesn't get any of your money. However it is up to you on whether you feel strongly enough about this to do it. What ever you decide I suggest you steer clear of the PC version it is going to be an absolute mess.

ProjectVulcan5903d ago

I like the idea of buying secondhand. The PC version is shocking. I will probably just wait it out and see for a few weeks how many activations the Pc version has too, and maybe if i have a friend who has it buy it off them and transfer it.

I really want as little of my money as possible in ubisoft's hands regards this.

Hisiru5903d ago

So you can play a demo on your x360 and you are not banned? REALLY?

If you play pirated games you can't play online, which is a big deal, and that's why piracy isn't a huge problem for the x360.

ProjectVulcan5903d ago (Edited 5903d ago )

Half a million 360 consoles were banned just before christmas last year. Piracy is very much a problem on 360, thats the half a million microsoft could detect, there are plenty still out there invisible.

Most pirates dont get banned and then suddenly decide go back to legit gaming, behaving themselves after a slap on the wrists. No, pirates are habitual offenders, looking to find the next way to exploit their machine of choice. Those banned for 360 still realise that the hundreds maybe thousands of dollars or pounds they stole worth of games pales next to the price of a new working 360 they can resume their nefarious ways with- as 360 gets cheaper and circumvention gets more advanced online bans will become less and less of a deterrant.

Hisiru5903d ago (Edited 5903d ago )

If they were banned they won't be able to play this demo, and they won't be able to use most of the features on this game or any other game with the online function. They will need to buy another x360 and the original copy of the game, and this title (SC: Conviction) has a lot of good online functions. You won't lose anything playing the pirated version on your PC.

Case solved.

ProjectVulcan5903d ago (Edited 5903d ago )

Still doesnt stop hundreds of thousands of people, probably millions running pirated software on modded 360s. The proof is there for all to see from microsofts own actions and the vast array of ripped 360 games. You just didnt read my reply to your original statement above did you? About the banning and costs and such? Pirates are cheapskates. Why would a pirate care so much that they could lose 150 quids worth of console every so often when they have stolen dozens of games worth ten times that at retail....knowing the consoles are also getting cheaper and harder to detect online as time passes.

Dont tar Pc gamers with the same pirate brush, and dont assume that a mere online ban is enough to deter most pirates...clearly it isnt

Hisiru5903d ago (Edited 5903d ago )

"Still doesnt stop hundreds of thousands of people, probably millions running pirated software on modded 360s."

We are talking about a game with a lot of good online functions here, and you can't use these functions if you are using a pirated version of the game.

sid4gamerfreak5903d ago

No demo for pc? What are we, second class citizens who don't get dedicated servers and now this?

I won't buy this game knowing that Ubisoft does not repsect the pc gamers.

Bot Smasha5903d ago

I wouldnt waste space on my hdd with this crap demo anyway ubisoft you can shove it and your drm

dirthurts5903d ago

However I'm considering canceling it. No demo makes me wonder if it's a craptastic port to pc.
I've heard of no pc specific enhancements so the chances are rising.

Charmers5903d ago

That's because there are no enhancements, it is a straight 5 minute port job from the 360 too the PC. Why do you guys keep giving this company money ? Ubisoft sees the PC as a way to make some extra cash for very little investment or work (that is why there is no demo, it would cost money to make).

Seriously if you are a PC gamer and you care about the PC platform you will refuse to buy Ubisoft games. After all there are plenty of other companies actually making an effort to meet PC gamers needs.

dirthurts5903d ago

If I don't buy the pc version, then I'm pretty much supporting the concept that pc gamers don't buy games. They do buy games, when treated fairly. Ex: Bad Company 2.
I'm in a toss up...
I'll probably end sucking it up for the pc version. Since it's already ordered and about to be shipped and all.

Charmers5903d ago

By buying this game you are really sending the wrong message to publishers. If you support Ubisoft financially it won't be long before other developers start thinking "hm lets try it ourselves".

Now you have a valid point that not buying the game could be construed as "PC gamers don't buy games". However in this case with Ubisoft I think most publishers and developers would clearly come to the conclusion that the reason PC gamers avoided Ubisoft titles is down to the DRM and not because they don't buy games.

I am not trying to incite a boycott here, I just find it saddening that PC gamers will give into this crap from Ubisoft. This is a company that has treated the PC platform with absolute contempt for years now. They were one of the last companies to ditch starforce a protection system shown to damage hardware. Their ports are just that direct untouched no frills PC ports.

This company does not deserve your money, they are making absolutely no effort to tailor Splinter Cell to the PC. They aren't even bothering to promote it with a demo and on top of that they are shoving the always on line DRM in.

At the very least I would encourage you to cancel your pre-order and wait to see how much work they actually put into the PC version. I really have a pretty bad feeling that this game is going to be a complete train wreck on the PC.

dirthurts5903d ago

I think I'm going to take your recommendation and cancel the order and see how things pan out. I may just end up renting this one. I do hate that they are treating the pc community this poorly. But in general Ubisoft has really been making some poor calls lately. I'm just glad Valve and Dice are still giving us the hook up.

Charmers5903d ago

If there was a thumbs up emoticon I would do a shed load of them now. A wait and see policy is the best course of action especially with Ubisoft titles at the moment.

As far as I am aware there hasn't been a single preview of the PC version which doesn't bode well for a starters. Now couple this with the "no demo" which I am sure is down partly to "costs" but it does come across as "we don't want people to know just how bad this game is on the PC".

If I am wrong then it just means a slight delay in you getting the game. However if I am right then you get to save a bit of money.

champ215903d ago

There are so many good games on the Pc out in march. Why care about this DRM infested crap.

My puchase list for march:

BC2
Dawn of war 2 chaoas
Dragon age awakening

Other games out:

C&C 4
metro 2033
Justcause 2
Supreme commander 2

*note i didnt include any ubisoft title in the list

I dont see why PC gamers should bother with Ubisoft when so many games are out. Also worth a note is that, what has Ubisoft done this generation? their games have been repeatfests at best:

Farcry 2: repeat fests same 4 missions across the game
AC1: same as farcry 2
AC2: slightly more refined but still a repeatfest
Prince of persia: repeat the same dam missions.

i dont see anything creative from Ubisoft so far this gen. Remind me why should PC gamers care about this company?

Gun_Senshi5903d ago

"Pirate our games" - on a silver platter.

First AC2 DRM which needs you to be connected to internet all time for saves, which are uploaded and not saved on your system, now this.

Now don't come QQing how the game was pirated so much, you are pretty much dropping the rock on your own foot.

Finally ninja gaiden 2 is BC, I've been waiting on this since they announced BC.

Bane352586d ago (Edited 2586d ago )

Yeah i thought ninja gaiden was gonna get remaster because it wasnt announced for backwards compatible til just now tho i would've been up for joy if they announced max payne 3 for backwards compatible today instead

hiawa232586d ago

I am so wanting MP3 on BC and X1X enhanced

Bane352586d ago (Edited 2586d ago )

@hiawa23 i think R* has plans to remaster MP3 at this point

Z5012586d ago

You couldn't play your copy of NG2 before this announcement?

Bane352586d ago (Edited 2586d ago )

No it just became backwards compatible today

Movefasta19932586d ago

not everybody still has their 360, that's why

Z5012585d ago

Kept your game, but no console to play it on?
No one sells 360's anymore?

bluebenjamin2586d ago

Ninja Gaiden 2 is the main game I wanted bcthen alone one x enchanced is this game is more fun than bloodborne

Gwiz2586d ago

No contest, souls games are overhyped for difficulty.

bluebenjamin2586d ago

Very overhyped just because of difficulty not because of fun

2586d ago
Movefasta19932586d ago

facts, once you beat a souls game and do ng plus, you have the game downloaded. Once you return to ng1 and 2 you still can get your ass handed to you lol, the regular enemies are a threat, still attacking even when they are on the ground dismembered.

Gaming4Life19812585d ago

Agreed dark souls, bloodborne, and sekiro are overhyped games and dont compare to ninja gaiden 1 & , ninja gaiden 3 sucks.

Z5012586d ago

What does BB have to do with NG2?
Why not insert Contra Shattered Soldier while you're at it.

bluebenjamin2586d ago

Ninja gaiden was once considered one of the hardest games ninja gaiden 2 has rpg elements so does bloodborn they have similar combat but ninja gaiden 2 just looks better doing it plus its fast pace and flashy combos removing limbs of foes remember 360 put more enemies on screen than ps3 on this game 360 had more dismemberment of limbs than the ps3 vs.360 had a better gpu but ps3 still to this day has an awesome cpu the ps3 had the prettiest ninja gaiden because of native 720 p while 360 pushed 640p now the one X has both higher rez and 360 style dismemberment But Ok for you contra ps2 version and nes

2586d ago
2586d ago
Movefasta19932586d ago

I do think ninja gaiden 1 and 2 are better than souls games, but they aren't even comparable

Z5012585d ago

Again. Why'd you pick BB?
Ninja Gaiden has ninja dog mode = easy
NG2 has a jump and block button
BB has none of those.

You could've picked a Devil May Cry or Bayonetta game. They're more similar to NG2 than BB.

What does PS3 have to do with this announcement? Your insecurities are showing.

Gaming4Life19812585d ago

I think they are being compared because of difficulty but I dont even think that is comparable imo. Ninja gaiden games are better though that's just facts.

Hungryalpaca2585d ago

And Forza is Better than MARIO Kart!!!!!

See how stupid that sounds?

bluebenjamin2585d ago

No Mario Kart is the best racer ever almost anyone can play

Amazing news! NG2!?!? Three Splinter Cell games!!! Fable 2&3 (the first is already enhanced)!!! This is what separates Microsoft's version of BC from others...its that they enhance both the performance and visual quality of these titles to keep them current in a lot of cases, instead of playing them exactly how they played and performed back in the day. Whats even better...I don't need to do ANYTHING but download the new patch...amazing.👏

Keep it coming Xbox!

Are the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for July 2018 any good?

Neil writes: "Every single month we hear the same old thing about the Xbox Games With Gold titles. "We don't want that rubbish - we want decent games, we want AAA blockbusters, we want something different". Well, the free Xbox 360 and Xbox One titles being given away during the month of July pretty much tick those boxes. What's the chances there will still be complaints?"

Tom clancy and virtua fighter are great death sqaured is pretty cool idk about assualt

lxeasy2875d ago

Splinter cell conviction is great, vf 5 is fun. Haven't played the other two so I'm excited to try them out.

ApexWolf222875d ago

Great month for 360 titles, X1 titles remind me of early days when all they gave away were indies, I hope they dont start doing that again.

AG1002875d ago

at least you can play the 360 games on xb1 too lol

Goldby2875d ago

Now that there's gamepass, expect bugger AAA to have priority in that, more money for both the dev and Ms more likely

yomfweeee2875d ago

I though Plus was lackluster this month. Gold is way worse.

BQ322875d ago

Vf5 fs is the best fighting game of all time abd backwards compatible, so it is a huge win in my book.

annoyedgamer2875d ago

No these are pretty awful. Virtua Fighter is great and so is Splinter Cell but those are 360 titles.

lxeasy2875d ago

so what if there 360 titles it's still awesome

A new Tom Clancy adventure can be enjoyed on Xbox One due to Back Compat – Is it worth the return?

Carlos writes: "Xbox Backwards Compatibility has shown a strong start to 2018 with a number of top titles being made available to play on Xbox One, but whilst this week doesn’t bring quite as many new arrivals as the past few weeks, there is still one addition for us to get stuck into once more... and it’s one that’s sure to prove a popular addition."
