Who's to say the PSN won't have downloadable videos of E3 or demos? It will be the first real E3 for PS3, so obviously were not assuming based off some precedent. I'm not going to make any assumptions either way, because I don't think it's really necessary for Sony or even Microsoft to announce ahead of time that you'll be able to download their conference off their online service.

It's great that Microsoft has announced it, but I don't find that it's so incredibly newsworthy that anyone announce it over a week in advance. In addition, the title to this article is so incredibly presumptuous. We'll know when E3 has hit whether or not they will or not. But Sony has made no denials to the possibility.

I think they will. They gave us those vids from their gamer day thing so why not E3?

But for those who say just go to another web site and watch video's are not fully understanding what E3 bringing it Home is. Lets just say some devs depend on E3-BIH and develope demo's for E3; BIG name developers with a time slot at E3 with a big pressence and smaller dev companies that may not even get a spot or only mentioned in the show now have a chance to show the titles etc to further market their titles. This is alot bigger than most realize because its "bringing it Home" and devs can only pat MS on the back forcing their fat wallets in their pockets at the same time.

How any Sony trailer for anything is released on the PC first? Any trailer for a PS3 game should be on the PSN before it touches gametrailers.com. Potential is there, but it's being underused at this time.

I know Sony is not publicly puttin together an "E3" deal on the PSN as of yet...but I am sure PS3 owners will see new videos as E3 unfolds. Sony has so many issues to tackle not only with the PS3 right now but with the online that putting together a special E3 section is probably not exactly high on their "to do" list.

I cetainly love that MS does it...and was excited to see they are putting the actual MS conference on the site along with all special E3 videos and interviews.

Sony will get there...just not this E3. Just wait til next year.

Sony has the PSN and the current game drought to contend with, while MS has their lack luster customer relations and hardware trouble.
The fact is each company has their own issues to iron out, this is really a non-story, if you can log onto live or PSN, you can go to gametrailers.com or any other gaming site and download your own E3 coverage. Nice move by MS but by no means a death sentence for Sony.

I will just use the PS3 web browser and find the videos on the web. It would be nice to have them all in one place, but it won't take long to find at all.

But I would not expect Sony to follow suit. M$ has the cash to back it. We pay a fee we get the goods. PSN may come along but Sony is walking in lives foot prints as of now. PSN is also free making this available to millions of people has to cost a @ss load. Where they gona get that money from?

i'd *LOVE to see Sony do something like this, and i wouldn't be surprised if they did.

they have plenty of games to show off, and most of them are in demo form (like Uncharted, Lair, Heavenly Sword), and how hard is it to upload some videos over the course of the three or four days giving us the highlights.

for example, on the 10th, Sony could upload their Killzone PS3 presentation (barring any exclusive coverage deals with a game site or magazine), as well as a video trailer of sorts.

i'd love to see a MGS4 demo on PSN soon (like i've said before, Hideo Kojima has had a Metal Gear Solid demo for every title thus far, and it's usually released a few months before launch of the title). if there's a new trailer at E3, i'd love to see it.

this is a brilliant idea by Microsoft, and i think that all three companies should implement it in some way. afterall, we are the people that ultimately buy the games, and instead of relying on potentially biased, or incomplete coverage from the press, we can rely on our own judgement.

the time of the media having such incredible control over consumer perception should be squashed. especially when it comes to gaming.

sony has showed us some of what is to be suspected which look great, and i don't think i have heard any thing from microsoft, except this BIH, i think they have a lot hidden which is strange because most of their secrets are out before they know lol, but we'll find out in i think seven days

with the excuses, why watch coverage on a 17 inch screen when you can watch it on your HDTV? Well I got an Xbox 360 so I will be downloading alot of demos and trailers this weekend and next week. Sony should be getting this content, if they want PSN to beat out XBL, they should be getting this sort of stuff. It helps build the PSN store and community.

I've seen some real stupid excuses from the Sony fanboys. Please, I know you would love to download trailers and demos in HD. Plus, Nintendo fans you would also like that, shame that you didn't get a hard drive with your Wii.

I download demos and trailers allthe time on PSN.Every week theres a new demo or trailer to add to the HDD.

I hope Sony does something simular to this. I think it's a great idea and one that i'd love to have. Even have the press confrence on the PS Store in SD as HD might be a bit too much to download. Or just segments available something Sony something.

The bottom line is you sony kids got exactly what you paid for a poo-ray player that can play inferior games because you don't need a advanced GPU to watch poo-ray movies. Sony isn't worried about buying exclusives or putting out great psn content and services poo-ray3 is struggling to be the trojan horse sony designed it to be because other than the loyal sheep consumers don't want poo-ray movies and gamers don't want a inferior gaming machine. Obvious reason would be that MS has already finished their streaming tv stuff for life, whereas Sony is still in development for PSN, after all MS had a one year head start and was more interested in online stuff in the beginning anyways.

But then ... youtube is your friend, and i will prolly check the online coverage via my PC and not my TV.

But Sony will surely stream such events (as long as they are involved) once their video streaming platform for PS3 is finished.

okay i know that it isnt really important to many people that psn network will not have E3 coverage online but at the same time it would've been a great way for Sony to prove that they could do what xbox live can without the 50 dollar fee at the end of the year. In my opinion i think that it was a smart move for Microsoft to provide exclusive coverage over live. You can always get information on new games from the internet but the coverage actually gives xbox 360 owners to play the game just like the people at the E3 event. Im not saying that sony will not change their mind on their decision to have coverage over psn but it would benefit them if they choose to.

In fact, I'm surprised this is even news. Did anyone ever know FFXIII or Killzone would be shown at their respective E3 Conferences? Nope. Sony keeps everything secret until the last minute, thus building up anticipation. Microsoft has yet to use this little tactic to their advantage.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
