I can't blame them going Multi after Ratchet & Clank and Resistance poor sales on ps3 Insomniac have realized xbox360 is where their games will be more appreciated and sales will drastically increase.

Also we should take into account (Naughty Dog) will also be going Multi as soon as they realize Insomniac have broken free from Sony's Iron Chain's which had kept them from expanding to a new audience.

If Insomniac is leaves Resistance and Ratchet are still owned by SOny. As well as the fact that Insomniac relies heavily on Sony for the funding of there games & for borrowing other studios for help on games.

Still I would love to work @ Insomniac =D

I just think its a bad idea, honestly I dont want bungie making ps3 games, exclusives built from the ground up for one platform will always be higher quality, when this happens you know the only motivator is $£$£ or maybe they had a project that sony wouldn't publish and a third party publisher has picked it up. insomniac is free to do what they want. They have a close relationship with SONY, i doubt this rumor is remotely anywhere near true.

If insomniac indeed does decide to support another console, I'm all up for it, any money they make is well deserved.

There were always rumors like this that they were gonna go multi-platform but it just ended up being BS. if it was gonna happen they would of done it a long time ago when 360 were selling like hot cakes.

Relax... I've been at GDC since the 9th and I'm, believe it or not, the very 1st person to ever post on this rumor and their game. This was in 2008 on the Vgtilt. We had word from an internal developer himself and we got to see pics of what they were working on and we also have the data faq sheetfrom over a year ago about what the game entails and what it's about.

The game, as I said, is/was "Lock & Key" it's probably going to be changed to something else... It is a horror game. Not a zombie game. It is very in your face and it's alarming at times.

As for Starhawk & Motorstorm 3 -- Home is having a special live feed soon. Don't know when. But you'll have a message, we're told, in your in box telling you to go to Home's Plaza and watch a new trailer. We don't know if it's for Starhaw or Motorstorm 3. We've seen both. MS3 looks so amazing.

i dont really have a big problem with this but its kind of hard to believe,as long as they keep making games for ps3 i dont mind.but i have herd them say they where only going to dev on the ps3 for the rest of the this gen i think so maybe next gen but hmm hard to say but if i was the big cheese at Sony i wouldn't like this at all and be thinking about buying them,there not my favorite developers around but they do make some good games and ratchet is awesome :P

Obviously it would be a new IP. The possibility of R&C coming to the 360 is equivalent to Halo releasing on the PS3.

U can almost gurauntee that any new ip will be offered to sony first before microsoft just because of the strong relationship between insomniac & sony has just like bungie & microsoft has. Not really anything to worry about for sony.

because their Playstation 3 titles have been nitpicked and dragged through the mud even though they were some of the BEST titles available on the platform.

Resistance: Fall of Man was a REALLY quality FPS. the single player campaign was engaging and scary, and the MP was rock solid with 40 players.

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction was a great entry into the R&C series, and it had AMAZING visuals often compared to Pixar movies (we all know it's not there yet, but it does look like professional quality animation, and in real time to boot).

Resistance 2 got sh*t for not looking like Gears of War, even though it did a LOT of things right (60 player MP, 8 player, class based co-op, the single player campaign was grand in scope, and honestly, a lot more interesting than your standard, generic, this army vs that army in a war torn, middle eastern environment), and few things wrong (the 2 weapon thing was really the worst choice i think they made with the game).

Ratchet and Clank Future: Quest for Booty got sh*t for being a short, limited R&C, with no planetary exploration and weapon upgrade system, despite it being a downloadable title. a downloadable title that was a pretty solid platformer.

Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time got sh*t for being "more of the same," even though it implemented new game play features like space flight and moon exploration, Ratchet's hover boots and game play tweaks (like being able to MOVE and throw your wrench at the same time), and Clank's absolutely BRILLIANT time manipulation puzzles. that, and the story in the title was probably the best they've crafted. the writing, humor, etc, was fantastic.

and yet, despite truly representing the PS3 for 4 years running with quality titles, they get NO LOVE from the gaming media, and more fanboyish gamers.

but OH, if they go multi-platform, suddenly we're going to hear about how AWESOME Insomniac Games is, because they're bringing their games to the Xbox 360 (obviously not Ratchet and Resistance, since Sony owns those IPs, but a new project).

the current state of this gaming generation absolutely DISGUSTS ME when truly talented developers like Insomniac and Ninja Theory get flak because of the console they decide to develop for, and then, suddenly, when they go multi-platform because, SURPRISE SUR-FRICKING-PRISE, their games don't sell so well because of the CONSTANT DOWNPLAYING the gaming media does of their achievements, they are suddenly deemed "AWESOME" by the same gaming press that condemned them.

i could see this happening. Insomniac recently opened up a new east coast studio, i think in north/south(?) carolina. Maybe they'll make multiplat games and the main insomniac studio will still focus on sony consoles. Either way, Insomniac will still have my support.

This doesn't matter. They are simply expanding. Hence the new studio in North or South Carolina, forgot which one.

(2) Sony owns Ratchet & Clank and Resistance ip
(3) Insomnia will continue to develop exclusives for Sony
(4) PS3 version of their multiplatform games will be superior guaranteed.

Maybe now Insomnia can get their proper respect and recognition in the industry. They are the only developers that can consistently churn out AAA product every year.

If anything Resistance and Ratchet would stay on the PS, Sony should have bought them along with Media Molecule. If it weren't for Resistance then Ratchet and Clank people would have nearly killed themselves. This is just a rumor so no one can tell right now. I personally hope not for, the longest I've been hoping Sony would buy them. But if they go multiplatform, it's cool they know the PS3 tech so their work would still look good.

You know, its funny how when theres a RUMOUR for the PS3 that every bot screams rumour and blasthemy, and when its something which they like they act as if its already true?

No official announcements so far people, but I wouldn't be surprised really.

Making multi platforms games is less risky today in ensuring there will be more copies sold. If the game developer knows the game is going to sale, making it multi platforms will ensure the total sales will be more than making it exclusive. If the game is release on both PS3 and X360, it's possible to sell almost twice as many.

Fans may complain but would the fans be willing to buy two copies of the game per person to ensure there will be twice as many copies sold? They may piss a few fans off but in the end, they can still sell more copies than being exclusive.

I often read fans like to post something like 300,000 copies sold for an exclusive game but if the game isn't exclusive, it would be 500,000 copies sold. From business point of view, which number makes more sense?

Games like Final Fantasy XIII. SquareEnix knows they probably wouldn't get twice as many copies of the game sold, but by making the game on PS3 and X360, they will get more copies sold than just exclusive to PS3.

In the end, more copies sold is more important than lower sales just to satisfy the fans.

Also they release a game a year so some are working on the title they will release the following year. Then they have to work on the multiplayer which will most likely to be 60 player again which cannot be done on MS P2P network. They also work down to the last minute on the PS3 game where are they going to find the time for the 360 version of a game.

Hmmm, start developing on a console while it is on it's way down... I'm not sure, but that sounds just plain stupid to me.

Next to that... Ted strikes me as a man who enjoys it when there are rumors around his company. I think he secretly is laughing when reading this, just because he know's it isn't true. I wouldn't be surprised if Ted just said that to drive everybody crazy around here. ^^

Personally I really hope IG doesn't go multi-plat. I'm pretty sure that if they make one multi-plat, it probably is not going to be that good.

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction is the first and last Insomniac game that I have played. It did nothing for me. I didn't feel that there was anything in there that hadn't been done earlier or better. The rail grinding and enemy fighting, for instance, had been done in Sonic Adventure 2 in 1999. And the futuristic environment felt like a cliche to me. Maybe that's what they were going for but some cliches are better than others for me. I just don't like the art style or characters - they're of the moment rather than classically great. I'll stick to the likes of Rare's Banjo Kazooie on the N64, with its clever level design , its cohesive gameworld, its variety of themes and great music, when thinking of classic 95%+ 3D platformers.

They need to do what's best for them as a business.To be honest I love most of their stuff(R2 single player was pants)and as long as they still make games for both then PS3 fans should not care too much.Their recent output has not sold well enough and it may bring them more money and long term higher budgets for their games.

Who would blame Insomniac...After Sony failed to help properly promote the last Ratchet, given Insomniacs loyalty and admiration to Sony...and Sony don't give them a helping hand when there last potential blockbuster launches....in fact, Sony actually promoted the hell out of another game or two that launched at the same time. It's a shame that Sony are unable to keep another stellar developer, but given todays climate and Sony's stance on paying for exclusitivity. Plus as a PS3, 360 and Wii owner, I think it's good that more gamers get the chance to experience this top developers games.

Next stop, Bungie WILL be next to go multiplat.

Sounds crazy considering the 360 has a larger install base, is easier and cheaper to program for, and has the biggest attach rate of games for all consoles.

well if bungie is going multy plat then insomniac might go too ... but the difference is insomniac cant doo anything on 360 cause yeah that box cant doo nothing anymore ps3 will alwasy surpase 360 in every thing graphics, game quality, gameplay and game content while 360 lacks already the graphics the quality and the content .... bungie would soooo get a lot out of the ps3 they will probably make a better game on ps3 then they ever would have on 360

Are the people who disagreed with me from America? Surely you must realise that Naughty Dog are far more important to Sony than any other studio.

If true it is a great loss for Sony. The only problem I have with new multiplatform IP's is the quality and graphics look like crap compared to exclusive titles. I love some multiplatform games but when I'm playing uncharted, Mlb the show, or even the demo for God of War I keep saying to myself why can't they all look this good.

At least I know for certain if they do release a multi-plat game that they will make it the same on both systems and not shaft one system. Insomniac are not a team of lazy devs, they do tremendous work and I look forward to everything they release.

Sure, they might just do that with, they didn't look too happy with the way Resistance and last Ratchet game was handled by Sony, thing is some of the things they could do with Sony will no longer be possible with other publishers. Also, I doubt Sony studios will share their tech with them as easy as before.

Here to put some ease on everyone's minds... Well, everyone who's a Sony fan anyways. Insomniac isn't going multi this gen. I won't discuss what's been said, who said it and why. Just rest easy in knowing, word from an internal source, says "NO" multi platform gaming will be taken on by Insomniac this gen. They have too much invested within Sony Ps3 dev kits and all their tools are geared towards cell development. They are, however, working on an engine that is cross platform compatible. Meaning, the code is there for easy port to port transfer. This is "IF" they had the production and publishing funds to go ahead with the venture on "other" hardware.

If Microsoft foots a portion of the bill -- They might consider it. But cross publishing, as we've seen in the past, always turns out ugly when it comes time for royalty payouts. Basically, you're not going to see Insomniac on any platform but a Sony one "this" gen. 100% confirmed. And, as we all know, Resistance and R&C are both published by Sony. They stay regardless.

And last but not least... In other gaming news all together --> You're going to be seeing a new Heavenly Sword, folks. Really soon at that. And you're going to be shocked at who's making it. I'm not even touching this one. Just wait.

All 3 resistance were great. Wish they would do 4 already…

This is my favourite FPS campaign.

Resistance 3 was the worst in the series. Story was dumb and wrapped things up in a terrible way. The multiplayer and gun play was absolute CoD wannabe garbage. No evolution on the amazing Coop in the 2nd game. The cover art was the only thing good about it lol.
