The 360 is due a price cut considering the lifecycle of the console it should have happened before now, microsofts press conference is before sony's at E3 and I think they will announce a price cut that will be effective from then which will put alot of pressure sony's conference.

sony have allready said there will be no price cut this year so if they do they will face the wrath of early adopters because they went back on a promise or if they don't an ms do they will be left behind like the xbox was by the PS2

Sony is obviously going all in with this game and WILL exceed the trailer. Like Ngai said, Call of Duty looks reaaallly good, almost as good as KZ2 E305 trailer, and Killzone 2 has such a huge budget, it's definitely possible for themto achieve that trailer. The Killzone dev has been quoted saying "We'll shut up some critics." They're obviously confident that they will exceed everyone's expectations and so am I. If you have a HUUGE budget, a development team(SCEA) that has the best and most access to the best tools and technology for PS3, and a device like PS3 that has sooo much potential and quality in it, it's obvious that potential can be unlocked, and will be unlocked. July 11th - Critics, and XBOX fanboys shutup. July 11th - Killzone 2 WOWS the world.

More games (RPGs mostly), quality games only possible using the PS3's advanced technology, a price reduction, and for the games showcased too below people away.

They don't sound like they care about any PS3 game.........

All that means is Sony needs to spend much more money to get the same results thus some devs not wanting to dev for PS3 or not taking the time and money to match a better preforming 360 multi platform title etc. I'm thinking KillZone 2 will be a large game(lots of gigs) filled with tons of CGI cutscene movies on a Final Fantasy Advent children" scale thus the exspense.

Yes it's pricey if your a person who wants to buy a console but doesn't know WTF the console does, the power and features that it offers, but if you're a gamer and fully understand that the PS3 comes with a CELL chip (new technology), Blu-Ray player, backwards compatibility with the PS2 and the original Playstation, PSP compatible, full High Definition with 1080p and many more, then you'll know that the PS3 is one hell of a console behemoth.

It's true and understandable that the PS3 really doesn't have good games as the PS2 but I remember that when I bought my PS2, the only good game that it had for the time of its release was Oni, Onimusha and Tekken Tag. I waited months for better games to come and it came. The same thing is happening to the PS3, just give it time, that's all that it needs.

except for a couple of winks from N'gai, SNE got raked over the coals by the entire panel..lol I thought Satterfield was going to start fighting a PSP for a second. a/w most of what they said was true; however the guy on the end (can't remember him) seems a little inept when it comes to tech stuff (doesn't know how to sink his BT headset w/ PS3??) so I didn't pay much attention to his comments, but for Satterfield to say that he thought KZ II wouldn't come out for 5 or 6 years after the '05 E3 is quite laughable. I mean look at COD4 ~ that game looks unbelievable and I think Guerilla is just as capable with a staff of those proportions. So yes we will see. Has SNE set themselves up for failure w/ the E3 KZII trailer? No (every company is entitled to target render even if it is CGI, but SNE shouldn't have lied in the first place; that's really the issue here, if it was a ploy: helluva job. If your're trying to be sneaky then sneak ~ not getting caught is the number one rule. Have they set the bar so high it might not be reached? Yes. Will we all be witnesses if Guerilla delivers a gem - dandy @ E3 in a few days? Yes.

As far as SNE and E3 '07 goes it going to be a wierd, wild ride I'm sure; I just hope they can deliver or else it's going to be 360's year for sure in '07, save some major shocker that we can't see. As my friend Ray Arnold from Jurassic Park would say, "Hold on to your butts...."

I agree with N'Gai, based upon what we saw of Call Of Duty 4, a multi platform game, Killzone 2 can meet the expectations. Exlcusive have usually greater graphics than multis, like Ninja Gaiden (Black) (Xobx exclusive) or God Of War 2 (PS2 exclusive).
I also agree with him about Sony thinking rather analog instead of digital. I hope during E3, Sony really delievers.

I'm curious as to why there's so much hostility regarding the editors/consultants interviewed on the Bonus Round. The fact of the matter here is that the gaming industry is a very profitable and very wide-reaching sector of the Entertainment business. While this is important for the gaming businesses themselves, (Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft), most importantly it's extremely relevant to investors, which is why you see individuals like Pachter.

You can disagree as much as you'd like with their opinions, but their points, and the motivation for the criticism isn't hostility. It's more of an analytical take on what businesses need to do to stay on top, and enamor consumers and investors alike.

Sony isn't infallible. Microsoft and Nintendo aren't either. As a matter of fact all three have outstanding issues they need to resolve to be the dominant player. Who resolves them first will likely take the lion's share. So constructive criticism from business analysts is really a good thing. They're drawing a road map to success. Every comment they made was constructive, there wasn't a single issue they brought up that couldn't be resolved in the near future.

Listen, I own a PS3 and am not disappointed in the slightest. I personally feel that visually, Killzone will meet high expectations. They're not oblivious to critics view of their CG trailer, so the fact that they're essentially front-lining Killzone at E3 tells me that either they've hit the mark of quality, or they're incredibly bold.

My confidence in Sony is two fold. They have an excellent history, but most importantly, this generation, they've made the greatest attempts so far to resolve their outstanding issues. They've cleaned up their image, addressing firmware issues/features, have been working to build their library, working on a comprehensive online solution (Home/PSN) and have made several public statements that they're aware of the consumers needs and criticisms. They're the only company so far that has made very open and public confessions of their mistakes.

We've all heard it before, acceptance is the first step to recovery. And I think Sony's acceptance of their mistakes will play out well for them in the future.

They should bring back N'Gai on his own next time like say after E3 his knowledge is so way above these other guys

Some things that struck me, they make it seem like PS3 doesn't have Grand Theft Auto IV also. How do you stay in the battle against Halo 3 and Gran Theft Auto 4? Maybe Killzone 2 and Grand Theft Auto 4?

They don't seem to think Killzone 2 can take away any of Halo 3's limelight. If Killzone 2 doesn't look great then why does Sony have it's own special event planned for it? With the hype around Killzone 2, if the game looks up to par with Gears of War or even better it's gonna fail because of the trailer? I gotta see that to believe it. Me as a gamer,I already know the trailer wasn't real, but if a game looks like Gears of War, I'm gonna wanna play it. I'm not gonna be pissed and say "no" because I'm pissed off you decieved me with that trailer.

I also think Blu ray needs to be a factor this year, that's the other big issue, if people buy HDTV's this holiday and start becoming interested in upgrading to HD video, the fact that PS3 comes with Blu ray already could make the price difference seem more forgivable.

Those are the most important keys to me, if PS3 is gonna stay in it this year.

Its actually a very good and to the point video. It explains Sony's pros and cons in its marketing. No company is perfect when it putting a product out the door and into consumer hands. The PS3 just needs some more games, and they coming. I'm sure all gamers alike will enjoy all the awesome games coming out (regardless of platform) in some way or form.
