Top Five Games The Longest Under Development

There's one thing that's been made abundantly clear, even before a developer has completed and made available its title for the masses to enjoy, the sequel to said title, most times is already on the drawing boards. Rough sketches, drafts of story and ideas to innovate flood the minds of developers even before the first title is out.

Duke who? Oh that game, sorry, almost forgot about it ; )

movements5940d ago

Ah we all know it's in the pipelines.... No doubt

Replace GeoW3 with 8Days for the PS3.

immortal845940d ago

must have made the list imo.

movements5939d ago

It's the top five games guys; not top 100...

Darkeyes5939d ago

Too Human was in development for more time than most of those games, so you wouldn't need a TOP 100 list for the thing, it easily qualifies in the top 5.

Yi-Long5939d ago

... so I guess that's why it's not on the list.

I'd obviously love to see a Shenmue 3.

They should first re-release Shenmue 1 and 2 (with their original language option, cause the english dub is drab) on PSN and marketplace. I'm sure those 2 will sell well enough to convince Sega to start developing a 3rd part.

We actually have :

Too Human : 10 years
Alan Wake : 6 years
8Days : 6 years (but technically it shouldn't count since it has been officially put on hold for an indeterminate period of time and maybe even canned)
The Last Guardian : 5 years
Heavy Rain : 5 years
Killzone 2 : 4 years
Fable 2 : 4 years
Final Fantasy XIII : 4 years
Gran Turismo 5 : 4 years (first reveal in 2006 with the PS3, from 2004 to 2006 PD worked on the project called GTHD a sort of enhanced GT4 engine and which was a launch demo, it served as a base for the developpment of GT5 which really started in 2006)
God of War 3 : 3 years
Metal Gear Solid 4: 3 years

MiloGarret5939d ago

Thankyou. That was about 1000 times better than the crap list the author of this article produced.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle41d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde48d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
