I'm glad I still haven't had a problem with none of my 360s, but 6 of my friends have recieved the ROD. I hope someone takes a class action lawsuit and makes M$ replace their 360 anytime you get ROD since there is a problem with the design of the motherboard.

Hell if i was MS i would do this too keeps the morons that supposedly go through 11 360's from having lifestyles fatal to the 360. MS probably done this realizing people are breaking the 360 ignoring its operational guidlines stated in the manual(even giving temps ranges the 360's safe in)more than they are actual faulty consoles this set up might provide some sort of info MS and new policy rules to the equation.

The problem is that the Internet isn't real it has a fictional realality made up be people in majorities of in any given community; although Sony fanboys Post this news when they can and these threads fill up fast with anti MS haters venting their anger, envy its obvious MS would be in deep sh*t if this was real and consumers would be making noise on a level greater than the PS2 issues but they're not because the internet; people make up their own realalities. Again if the problem was bigger than or even close to PS2 errors it would be known like nothing else.

It's like 360 users looking up PS3 disc loader problems on forums and trying to destroy Songs rep, looking for flashing red light reports.

There is issues with heat but what you don't understand is there will always be a problem despite a fix because Sony fanboys and MS haters will always try to pro-long the issue always hunting even for the most mundane issue on forums.

Trying to turn this news post into a bad thing is and example if anybody can come up with a link saying this is the one and only solution MS working on i'll edit this post.

It doesn't work that way some 360's run hot while other do not some are unlucky enough to get broken 360's due to defected 360's or neglect.

MS sold over 10 million last Christmas i don't know why you Sony fanboys keep saying 10 million when 360 sells around 250 thousand a week its almost the 7th month into the year for gods sake.

Well they've started putting in the new heatsinks right? I would think those would help.

But if you don't have a repaired model w/ a heatsink this would be cool I'd say, as it doubles as a cool add on rather than just a red lights alerter. Of course it'd void the warranty I assume.

ahhh DVD9, power supply being bigger then a whale,so many add ons like WiFi that turn my xbox into a transformer, 85% of game is FPS,graphics are weak so is the system, no bluray, system looks ugly next 2 the TV

but about this - it seeems like a good idea let me waste an extra 30bucks or whatever for something to tell me to stop playing my game on my 499 purchased >>GAMING<<< console

first you buy an 400$ premium that breaks down in a month then you buy an elite for the HDMI then you buy an inter cooler for the elite so it doesn't break down in 2 days and then you buy an hd dvd player so you can watch movies in hd then you but this thing so you can check if its over heating so thats 400+480+250+50+50=$1130 milkage complete!!!(and i didnt include the xboxlive fee) but hey at least Microsoft gives you a choice, but for kicks lets see what console gives you all that and more hmmm..

when the hell is MS going to address the problem? I mean if you go to the doctor and he tells you that you have terminal cancer, you could choose to ignore it, but it AINT going away. The same is true of MS, they KNOW that the design is flawed, yet they tell the world that only 3% of the devices have failed..YEAH RIGHT! In my opinion they are biding time until they shrink the die to 65nm. The 90nm current layout is fatally flawed. Any 360 owner out there whose system has not acted up, just wait....it will. I did not believe that these issues were as widespread as reported when all of the sudden POOF I got the red rings. Same thing happened to a buddy of mine about a month ago. Both systems were WELL ventilated. It is not a Sony fanboy fantasy that the chinese crap that MS is calling premium and elites are failing. IT IS REALITY!!

MS can bury their head in the sand as long as they want, it will only hurt them in the end. There will most definitely be a class action lawsuit to address the rushed to market 360.

Thanks for the fun MS, I now have a 400 dollar chinese doorstop. Oh and before I forget, I am truly delighted with it. It is the best chinese doorstop I have ever owned (if I plug it in the red rings provide a nite light safety feature).

i dont really understand the overheating problem, i allways feel the back of the xbox after playing it,and its never any warmer then the ps3
i only play for an hour or so at a time, but theres been the verry rare six or so hours playing if ive got friends round, but still its never gotten all that warm
why is it some peoples get hot enough to kill the console?
this case is an ok idea but it shouldnt have ever needed to be made in the first place, i guess im lucky i dont know, but the 360 i bought my mum doesnt get hot either
allways keep it fully ventilated though, actually thinking back it got hot the first time i played it but it was behind glass then, never did that again

it looks cool i would try to leave it orange since thats the colour i use in the forums,

hate. yes xbox 360 can over heat, yes some get the ring of death(mine did). yes the hardware is lack luster. but do you have to come on every article about the 360 and say the same stuff over and over. i mean come on why all the insane loyalty to a corporation? you like one better, fine. but stop drinking the kool-aid, and just go enjoy your games.

Imagine had Microsoft thought of something like this from the beginning. We all know that they knew the 360 could have a cooling problem. The could have minimized their failure rate, had they added a color change to the light in the center of the ring. This would have keyed people in on whether the location that they had their 360 in was ventilated well enough or not. Even if you couldn't move it anywhere else you could at least shut it down for a bit.

You would also be able to tell if those addon cooler actually are effective. (I'm sure they are)
