1. YLOD is hardly #2, the problem is minor compared to other hardware problems.

2. RROD could be one of the worst problems to plague hardware but PS2 had horrid disc read errors, people went through multiple consoles (including myself)

I can already see the "LOL MICROSOFT IS ON THE LIST 4/5 TIMES!!11!!" but honestly, this article is awful.

Raf1k15926d ago

Isn't the BSOD a software issue?

dinsurya5926d ago

LOL MICROSOFT IS ON THE LIST 4/5 TIMES!!11!!

jjacinto235926d ago

Microsoft wasn't innovative at all.............4 failures in top 5 and 2 of them are both in xbox 360 wtf is that Microsoft

FishCake9T45926d ago

Lol agreed. Even so I bet most of the people that are going to respond to your comment are using Windows.
PS Wheres Gizmondo?

LukaX235925d ago

No one can top Microsoft!

Venatus-Deus5925d ago

"It’s been the worst failure rate of its kind, yet Microsoft’s behemoth still is going strong, many users still play the Xbox 360 despite being on their 7th console. If anything this shows just how adored the machine is."

Surely that’s more to do with the software. Nobody actually likes the 360 machine. They like XBL and the games. The hardware is garbage. Fan noise, external power pack, no wifi, batteries in the controllers, cheap dvd tray loading. Etc etc

SuperStrokey11235925d ago

This is terrible, just a terrible article.

Christopher5925d ago (Edited 5925d ago )

1. This article is way too centric to MS and Sony.

2. YLoD affected less than half a percent of PS3 users, that's a huge success in the hardware market. There are more issues with 99% of the computer hardware out there in comparison. The thing is, this number continues to decline each day as YLoD was only symptomatic with some PS3s from the first year.

3. WindowsME should be #1, even above the RRoD.

@murderdolls: I'd agree with you on the number of disc read errors on the PS2, but those numbers still pale in comparison to RRoD and still fell under the 2% error standards.

jakethesnake5925d ago

Totally agree that ME should be #1. ME makes the 360 look like the pinnacle of stability.

Also, what kind of decade includes both 1998 and 2008? Unless you define a decade as 11 years starting at random dates, it aint gonna work.

Game13a13y5925d ago

did they forget to mention the 360 disc scratching issue? MS could have swiped the competition and got a 5/5. LOL

edgeofblade5925d ago

I hope Microsoft learns from this fiasco. I'm still a loyal Microsoft fan thanks to Microsoft sinking over $1000 in replacement costs on me and most other dedicated 360 gamers... that's gotta count for something... but you can't just sweep a crisis like this under the rug.

Xbox will not survive another QA failure like this. Here's hope it makes the next system better.

Look at the trend there, majority Micrrosoft.

hakis865925d ago

1. I don't think the PS3 YLOD is THAT big of a problem

2: RROD is by far the worst - although he places it on number 1 he tries to damagecontrol it with "Although not a major problem anymore thanks to the Jasper chipset..".
I don't have a Jasper so mu 360 could die any mintue, in theory :(

Wrathman5925d ago

i dont hear of many YLOD failures.but i certainly hear of blu-ray drive failure.i know of this happening at least 5 times in my circle of friends.3 times on 1 console.

maybe that should be on the list instead.

rrod got fixed for free.but when your drive fails on your ps3,sony give you an extra special kick in the teeth with a £125 fee.its like gettin your face kurbed and your wallet stolen in the process.

4point7BillionLoss5924d ago

Fails of the decde ... let's see.... it's 2010 .... and windows 98 came out 12 years ago ...

maybe the author used a PS3 to calculate his dates?

RagTagBnd4455925d ago

Didn't you wrote that on a Windows computer?

xaviertooth5926d ago

the website just to please the weeping bots had to include YLOD which is very very very rare case.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio23d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing23d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit23d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing23d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
