Hellbored : Heavy Rain Review

Heavy Rain may be a gripping, interactive tale of despair and anguish, but crippling audio issues and a lack of actual gaming means it's far from perfect.

I didn't read the whole review but I do agree with the last four paragraphs.

Heavy Rain is no masterpiece at all.
I was lucky and happy to not encounter any glitches nor bugs while I was playing but I got to chapter Face to Face with Scott Shelby and Lauren, turned it off for the night.

When I turned it back on and clicked continue the game would not load and I thought inFamous was bad. Heavy Rain crashes my PS3 without fail everytime. Plus its stupid Heavy Rain has NO A.I. NO HEAVY PHYSICS and the whole shebang to figure out. It falls short of KZ2/UC2. Those games obviously had glitches but isn't as widespread and terrible as this.
Some people are even stuck at the prologue.
How's that, for a happy customer?

...and before you think about disagreeing with my posts:

Bungie has his precious "calender bug" taken from him so must revert to Heavy Rain bashing to fill the vacuum, failing to realise it's a success with reviewers AND gamers.
Forget this one, sunshine?

you think ps3 owners are gonna cry? they have played the game and its terrific, the sites which COUNT the main sites gave it terrific scores.

you are just showing your insecurity here, buy a ps3 already.

I think the writer went into the game with different expectations. I knew as a customer and doing a little research that this game would be different than me playing my typical FPS or manipulating what is going on in my environment. Perhaps it was not as enjoyable experience for him as that is his personal opinion, but so far it is for me. Yes the game starts slow intentionally to familiarize players with te control scheme, but it does pick up and I am still guessing to see who the killer is. Loss of audio definitely could be fixed with a patch. To those who own the game I hope you are enjoying it as it has made this FPS fan a believer in something out of the norm. To those who don't own it at least give it a rent. You may find you like it. It's not just about QTE but asks you to make moral or imoral conscious decisions.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe2010d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG2010d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman2009d ago (Edited 2009d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.
