As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today.
This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.
We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.
Errors include:
The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following
message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been
signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".
When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears
on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install
trophies. Please exit your game."
When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the
Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date
and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"
Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the
PlayStation Store before the expiration date.
We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.
they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.
This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.
Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
I'm glad they got a handle on this. I'm a patient person and luckily I have other stuff I should be doing instead of gaming.
I can't:
1. Sign into PSN (can't play MAG... dammit!)
2. Earn trophies (earned 3 trophies in Bioshock 2 that didn't unlock, hopefully this doesn't screw up my ability to unlock these and maybe other trophies later when the problems are fixed... I retained a save file from not too long before I started earning these trophies so hopefully when all is well I can just load up that file and re-earn them and actually have them unlock... if not, then that sucks big time, but it isn't THAT big of a deal because they were just 3 bronzes and I know I'll never platinum this game due to the multiplayer trophies, so not getting 3 bronzes is no big deal)
The 'clock error' was intended. By that gimmick, SONY can now force older PS3s to be replaced by the new slims..in other words, MORE sales in hardware dept. or to increase PS3 numbers being sold by storm.
HINT: SONY believes GOW3 is a system seller, so SONY will take advantage of it..AT ALL COST. Please DON'T call it a cheat ;)

That's funny, when I called support this morning the representative assured me that it was a network problem and told me to keep trying my system every 2 hours. This makes me feel quite uneasy, it seems as if no one knows knows what the others are doing.
