Marvel vs. Capcom 2 50% Off…and a Comment Contest

Capcom's John Diamonon writes: "I'm glad to finally make my return to the PS.Blog, bearing Capcom gifts and good news. It's been too long my friends.

But before we get to another infamous comment contest, I have something cool to announce. Starting tomorrow (2/18), we will be discounting some of our popular PSN downloadable games by 50%. That's right. Five weeks. One game a week. Fifty percent off!

[...]

Oh, one other thing. I'll be back in April for a huge announcement. Stay tuned and let the speculation begin!"

Your announcements Suck.

Sincerely Raiinstorm81

PS - No more on disc DLC

Edit:
Only a current gen remake of Resident Evil 2 will silence me.
**finger crossed**
I agree or Monster Hunter PS3 (not a port either)

Barbapapa5922d ago

more lostplanet2 skins :D.

hoping for mh3portable or a ps3 version.

qface645922d ago (Edited 5922d ago )

i don't see it being anything special considering the person who just announced the announcement

Megaton5922d ago

I'd hate it if they butchered Resident Evil 2 with a current style remake. It would just be the gimped out TPS 4 and 5 are.

Syronicus5922d ago

Lately Capcom has sucked all around and this new announcement is probably just some DLC or a new, "exclusive" arcade title...

Lionsguard5922d ago

haha I was just about to say how lame Capcom's "huge announcements" are probably going to tell us they got a new toilet installed or something so they can produce more crap to tell us.

mrmikew20185922d ago

I'm sick of Capcom's retarded announcements. They should keep it to themselves. The only thing I want from them is Super Street Fighter 4.

krisq5922d ago

Super Ultra Hyper Street Fighter IV with 2 new characters for 60 bucks :/

GameGambits5922d ago

Breath of Fire 6

Megaman Legends 3

SSF4 coming to arcades(I personally think it will be this)

Hakan trailer for SSF4 along with collectors edition details for USA(Though I'd doubt they'd make us wait another whole month for the final character to SSF4)

It could be anything. Haters can hate, but SSF4 is my most anticipated game this year next to FF14.

mastiffchild5922d ago

Sod you Capcom. I just refuse to care until your games stop being so crappy(by and large)and unless this is something about a proper new Dino Crisis I'm beyond even listening right now.

Seriously, has any other developer been poor this gen compared to the last two? I know some people still think they do a good job but I'm buggered if I can see it. SF4 is only OK, DMC4 and RE5 were abject toss, DV? LP1 was average at best make their best game this gen Zack and Wiki(completely ignored and unmarketed Wii game)and don't even start me on their port of DR(again not what it could have been) to wii in CTYD!

As fr their announcements? Seriously.

DOMination5922d ago

Prepare to be disappointed. How many times have Capcom said something like this, only to announce a marketplace game or a slightly better version of a game they already released. Probably Dark Void: Colonies

captain-obvious5922d ago

old shcool RE
with old shcool zombies
and raccoon city
old shcool RE camera style

or G T F O

Rainstorm815922d ago (Edited 5922d ago )

Thats what i want. RE2 remade in the old style

Unfortunatly all we get is old school megaman.

Umbrella Corp5922d ago

Yeah and bring back Umbrella Corp!

20 Years Ago, Marvel vs Capcom 2 Delivered a Legendary Crossover

Everyone is trying the shared universe thing these days, but Marvel and Capcom were mashing up their most beloved characters decades ago. Perhaps their best crossover effort was Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, which was released on the PlayStation 2 & Xbox on Nov. 19, 2002, in North America. Previous releases took place in arcades and on Sega’s beloved but ill-fated Dreamcast console. Later releases came out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360’s digital storefronts.

Former employees of Backbone Entertainment have formed a new company called Digital Eclipse. On Twitter studio head Mike Mika confirmed they would love to help the fans. In addition to having ported MvC 2 before, the studio has worked with Disney on re-releases of the Disney Afternoon Collection, Aladdin and The Lion King. Legions of fans are waiting for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to take them for one more ride.

Disney and Capcom Have 'Begun Discussions' Regarding a Possible Return of Marvel vs Capcom 2

The PlayStation Brahs:

"YouTube Maximilian Dood’s ‘#FREEMVC2’ campaign went big time viral as it spread like wildfire on social media. The goal? Please work it out. I have fond memories of this fighter game. Not to mention the sequels just aren't as balanced as this game was.

Absonite1695d ago

Balance? MvC2?! It was totally batshit unbalanced, but that's what made it fun.

sourOG1695d ago

I laughed hard at balance lol. It is completely f***ing broken. Balance isn’t what people are looking for. Mk11 was the most balanced MK ever and the overall consensus was “restrictive and boring”.

PurpHerbison1694d ago (Edited 1694d ago )

For the noobs and average players it can be seen as balanced but at the highest competitive level it is absolutely broken. There was a ratio mod released recently that is actually pretty interesting and allows way more of the cast to see some play.

RedDevils1694d ago

You can always balance my bank account.

Teflon021695d ago

No one cares about balance in MvC2. Games all about being unbalanced lol. If it was, it likely wouldn't be good

Lexreborn21695d ago

MvC2 is so unbalanced pros make special brackets to limit the amount of clone teams this game has at high levels. Even now Justin Wong and others have only been playing with the character cost format to make it interesting.

CrimsonWing691695d ago (Edited 1695d ago )

Did you ever play as Cable or play someone else who was using Cable? This is an incredibly unbalanced game and honestly some of the most fun is making a redonkulous team and just clapping cheeks.

KwietStorm_BLM1694d ago

Balanced... Storm, Sentinel and Magneto breathe a sigh of relief.

Yi-Long1695d ago

I really enjoyed the game on Dreamcast.

A lot less when it was later re-released on newer systems, because I believe all characters were already unlocked instead of you playing to unlock them. The SP experience on those re-releases was just ‘less’ than the Dreamcast version, which was a bit disappointing.

Would love a proper HD remake/remaster, if given the care & love it deserves (instead of a quick cash-grab with a mediocre port).

Would also love to see Capcom release a FullHD port/renaster/remake of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (psp).

Teflon021695d ago

Seeing the Alpha games storyline is being promoted in SFV, with all the mainline titles, it really should get one

WiiU-Dude1695d ago

I'm very interested in this.

Vandamme211695d ago

Why not just make a new game

CrimsonWing691695d ago

Well, they uh… tried that already and…

BlaqMagiq11694d ago

They did. And it was extremely mediocre.

PurpHerbison1693d ago

Not sure what you mean though. Marvel 3 was pretty damn good and Marvel Infinite was too. Infinite just suffered from poor graphics but the gameplay and netcode was actually pretty solid.

FallenAngel19841695d ago

I want them to rerelease the entire Marvel vs Capcom series on modern platforms, from X:Men Children of the Atom to Marvel vs Capcom 2

I’d also love for the next Marvel vs Capcom title to live up to its series legacy rather than being a disappointment like Infinite

CosmicTurtle1695d ago

I said the same thing without seeing your comment. X-Men vs Street Fighter and MSH were stunning games. They look great to this day.

I did not mind MvC3 and ultimate but the last entry was dire.

Godmars2901694d ago

And I want them to go back to 2D - know THAT'S not happening!

Nice compromise would be something stylized towards what Guilty Gear does than their own attempts at 3D.
