Mass Effect is better than Mass Effect 2

From the SarcasticGamer.com article: "When a really good sequel comes out, like say, Ghostbusters 2 , Speed 2, or Transformers 2, people often forget the original inspiration that made the series great.

In this case, the ground breaking excellence of Mass Effect is getting lost in this swirl of unrestrained, hysterical gushing over the sequel. These aren't legitimate reviews we're reading of Mass Effect 2; we are reading a tween girl's review of a Jonas Brothers concert on her blog. In short, it's embarrassing."

ME2 is the better game overall. Although it has to be said that the first one beats it out in some areas such as having deeper RPG elements. I personally miss the Mako because it made the galaxy feel bigger, not being able to collect armour for my squad also sucks. My biggest annoyance with ME2 though is the new power recharge system, What ever happened to the old saying "if it aint broke, don't fix it".

Bigpappy5920d ago

But there is no way that ME1 is the better game. I would suggest that they put back the inventory management and get rig of the fueling system. I had no problem with Mako and there was some mining in ME1. But the as a whole, ME2 is way more engaging.

That is an area what I can honestly say they dumbed it down for the shooter audience. But over all ME2 was a better game than ME1. I would have like a bigger world (the only part of the Citadel you could walk around in were the Wards) but all the environments in the game were so varied that I can see that they had to ration out their resources.

In the end each game leaves you wanting more, not in a bad way but in a compelled interested way. ME3 is going to be boss (but please BioWare, bring back a deeper RPG element and a more open Citadel).

Lol it's called the Xbox 360 effect, no games for three years straight would make PS3 fans delusional too.

The box art is better.

That's about it.

I really miss the elevators too /s.

GameOn5920d ago

Those elevator rides have just been replaced by long loading screens. At least the elevator rides had little discussions to listen to.

ME2 was an awesome game. I enjoyed a lot. But the story was biiit weak. I put 30 hours into it and 95% of the time i was recruiting my team and doing loyalty missions. I was kinda of disapointed with the story. I wanted to deal with collectors more often. But hey im on my 2nd play of the game, it is an awesome game. My main goal is to get my all team members to survive the final mission. I only lost 1!! I was sooooo mad!

GiantEnemyCrab5920d ago

I disagree and I find the accusation that the reviews for ME2 are fake and for some reason this piece of trash is... embarrassing.

ME2 for me was better in every way except it felt a little bit shorter than the first.

Fiona5920d ago

I think i put more hours in ME2 than in ME1. But is because i did not do to much exploration in the mako. Kinda hard to drive that thing!

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine512d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast512d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman512d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast512d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave760d ago (Edited 760d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
