Impressive CryEngine Shots released

PC Games published some impressive CryEngine 2 screenshots.

Letros5930d ago

I never tired of these breathtaking video game shots. Can't wait for modders to get their hands on CryEngine 3.

OmegaKulu5930d ago (Edited 5930d ago )

fyi, those are not for actual games....these shot are rendered using cryengine, BUT they are like CGI for movies...there's no real time interaction. + those are not real time rendering....not even a high end gaming pc can do it....yet...

Letros5930d ago

I figured so =) I guess I shouldn't have said video game.

Kurylo3d5930d ago

your very wrong. Those shots are actually in game. And not at 2 fps... some of these are available for download at crymod to walk around in. I know you gotta hate cause your prescious console cant do it. But a simple 8800 gtx can do it.

ProjectVulcan5930d ago (Edited 5930d ago )

The third shot, the waterfall, gobsmacking....ten years ago i thought Legacy of kain on dreamcast and Pc looked good- that was Pre PS2. I couldnt envisage this leap in a decade...

Hotel_Moscow5930d ago

@1.1

i guess this is the game then because thats what we said when crysis came out

Pandamobile5929d ago

Some of you people are dense :P

These are actually screenshots from maps people have made for Crysis. The only thing they might have done to them afterwards is some colour correction, or colour balancing.

What you see is honestly CryEngine 2 in its full glory.

Shaman5930d ago

They really are breathtaking,Im very interested in Cryengine 3,but im even more interested how well will it look and run on consoles cus we all know on PC it will once again raise a bar.

Letros5930d ago

I think it will blow people away on consoles there is still life in them. We are talking about German developers, I don't question any Germans integrity(my boss is one!). But I believe there will be a very noticeable difference in the PC version, if not upon release, then definitely after mods are released.

Real Lifesis comes to mind. Watch in HD!

Shaman5930d ago (Edited 5930d ago )

LOL Sony soldier...PC>>>>x3 60=ps3,Crytek already confirmed 360 benefits from more shader heavy situations while ps3 from physics, but they are about the same.

@Letros,yea you are right, there is alot that can be achieved from closed box like consoles,i have no doubt in their technical exelency. After all germans were always precise and technical, just look at their cars and Crytek :D People underestimate them and put them in the same category as any other ordinary 3rd party developer, while they surely are different and better.

Overmars5930d ago

Yeah, you wish.

Why don't you bring out the "Cell is used by U.S.Army" banner as well.

OpenGL5930d ago

For a moment there I thought you were serious. I can't wait to try out Crysis 2 on my 5870.

Overmars5930d ago

A 5870? Ooh, I envy you so much. A 5870 is a little bit out of my league right now. I'm looking at the 5770. I hope this game is not unplayable on it.

Bodster5930d ago

Its the 5770 i have, great GPU, im hoping to be crossfiring it once i get the money and a new CPu ;)

Theonik5930d ago

I am hoping to get this one soon. :)
But tbh i will most likely wait for Nvidia's cards before i upgrade tp DX11

Pricey5930d ago

ps3 & 360 >> than pc I can afford

Bodster5929d ago

The gaming rig i have cost me £430, The ps3 i bought at launch cost me £510.

My PC is much more powerful than my ps3 so i would say it was money well spent. I still love my PS3 though, but for a graphics lover like me its mostly the PC i am playing atm...

Pricey5924d ago

thanks for your reply, when did you buy your gaming rig because Id like to know if it cost £430 when the ps3 launched. Your graphics card for example was released at a similar time to windows 7. Does that rig include a monitor, my tv was used for tv before I bought my ps3 so i can kinda negate that purchase.

retrofly5930d ago

Will the game come with a liquid nitrogen coolers for my CPU?
:)

aman84r5930d ago

@2.1
im excited about crysis on consoles and this may sound absurd but im gonna buy it on all three platforms but the fact is when it comes to graphics the top spot belongs to pc its just the stupid pirates destroying this platform and by your comment you sound like a 12 year old kid go play nitendo wii this is not your place and fanboyism is for jerks

Can you run Crysis in VR? Crysis VR Mod Available for Download

Holger Frydrych has just released a cool VR Mod for the 2007 version of Crytek's first-person shooter, Crysis.

Playing it right now looks amazing! :D
so much fun, i hope they make a vr mod for crysis 2 / 3 too!

DivineHand125473d ago

This is amazing. This is the direction VR should go in to boost adoption. Since I have beaten every Crysis except 1, this is now a good excuse to correct that problem.

Crytek Wanted Crysis To Be "Future-Proof"

According to Crytek CEO Cervat Yerli, "I want[ed] to make sure Crysis does not age, that [it] is future proofed, meaning that if I played it three years from now, it should look better than today." Yerli and the team designed Crysis' highest graphical settings for the PC hardware of 2010 and beyond.

While Crytek has officially announced Crysis 4 is in development, nothing new has surfaced. For now, gamers' only way to scratch that itch is to play the Crysis Remastered Trilogy available on PC and consoles.

OG 2007 Crysis (not the remastered weirdo), is & will forever be a legend amongst the PC community.

PrinceOfAnger478d ago

This video will always be impressive to me, even for years to come. Some things here are better than games we have today, OG crysis is the best version!

RaidenBlack478d ago

OG Crysis physics, man ... amazing! Thanks for the reminder!

PrinceOfAnger477d ago (Edited 477d ago )

Looks really nice with VR mod too

FinalFantasyFanatic478d ago

I'm still shocked that it looks as good as it does today, puts some modern games to shame.

Profchaos477d ago

I thought the remaster was fine tbh some rough edges at launch but after some patches it's decent

isarai478d ago

I mean the lighting and physics still hold up extremely well. I still revisit it from time to time.

RedDeadLB478d ago

That CPU performance thing is preventing it.

isarai477d ago

Yeah unfortunately Crystek's decision to bet on the linear progression of clock speed in CPUs was derailed by the unforseen shift towards multicore CPUs. It just wasn't built with that in mind because that wasn't even in the conversation at the moment

DivineHand125478d ago

I remember when I tried to play Crysis with my Intel Pentium Dual core E2200 @2.2GHz , 4GB ram and GeForce 9400gt. I was a kid back then and that was the best I could do. I would get about 15 to 20 fps. When I over clocked the CPU to 2.8GHz I would get about 40fps. The experience wasn't good at all and it was the only PC game I could not run back then unless and put the settings on low. At that point the game went from cutting edge graphics to PS2 graphics. To this day I haven't completed the OG Crysis. I was able to complete Crysis 2 and 3 after building a new PC when I got my first job.

HyperMoused477d ago

Never played it, worth a try you think?

Profchaos477d ago (Edited 477d ago )

Worth a try just because it's the only game that lets you pick up a turtle on the beach and throw it at enemy soldiers that should have been a back of the box feature.

But nah seriously unless you're nostalgic for it I'm not sure if it will hold up

Crytek went so overboard on the Crysis tech and sent devs to photograph leaves in Haiti

"The shader work that came out of this was mind-blowing at times."

RaidenBlack491d ago

Amazing, often misunderstood
The dumb AI was deliberate, so that the players can explore and experiment with the world and all the features.

vTuro24490d ago

It really is. Most people only remember it for its graphics but the gameplay was equally amazing.

RaidenBlack491d ago

Hope they try to pour nearly same amount of dedication to the new Crysis 4

DefenderOfDoom2491d ago

Well worth the extra work ! I enjoyed all 3 Crisis games and would also love a new one .

JunonZanon491d ago (Edited 491d ago )

Still wish game development was overall this passionate and minutious about their projects. Obviously, there are still some great studios as exceptions.

LikAChicken490d ago

I’ll never forget Far Cry 2 and the amount of details they packed in.

Yea there were some issues with the gameplay loop and the sickness aspect but you could tell they really tried to nail details.

DivineHand125490d ago

I haven't beaten the first Crysis but I did play Crysis 2 and Crysis 3. I know some PC players were annoyed by the last 2 games being developed with consoles in mind but I believe it was an improvement. I had a great time with Crysis 3 to the point where I believe it was too short.
