In a word, no. But first, let me backtrack a bit to explain how I get to that conclusion.

It's a step forward for Stop Killing Games.
Matter? No. Nice to see in action and determine myself? Yes.
Sasanova, I'm not against innovation or even 3D; I just don't think it's going to be revolutionary. And the glasses are a hindrance; they just are, especially for someone like me who wears regular prescription lenses. When they develop a non-glasses solution, which they are working on, I'll be much more inclined to get behind it.
Plus, can you honestly think of a game that would be better in 3D?
Look I'm not saying 3D won't be cool, I just don't see it as something I have to rush out and buy because I don't see how it makes games fundamentally better, other than just visually.
3D gaming is like any other accessory gaming, it won't be the norm, but will have special qualities that people will like. Just like Eye Toy/Natal motion controller before, there are pros to it, and there will be definite cons too.
.
Does 3d gaming matter? Nah I wouldn't say so most video games are based around immersing you into the game enough for you to care about what you're doing and why you're doing it. If 3D gets involved it might dull that purpose down a little. On the other hand, 3D gaming can be rich take on the industry for promotional reasons(hey look you're really in a Bugatti Veyron, almost), I might try to experience this myself sometime down the line.
