X10: Alan Wake is more intense than Dead Space

The survival horror genre has had its share of ups and downs. Dead Space is one of those amazing milestones that will always creep up on me in the middle of the night, reminding me what a coward I am for not finishing it, because it was far too creepy and intense.

Epic... I'm going to walk around in the day time and just look at the world and use the game as a relaxing screensaver. All of the game just looks like CGI but it's not.

EDIT

@#4

He was not asking (you) us a question, he was telling us after playing the game he was more spooked from AW, As if the devs are going to reveal too much in this movie like thriller(genre) to everybody that has a PC. lol

swiftshot935939d ago

ok....Im not saying thats its not possible for Alan Wake to be better. All Im saying is that I havent seen anything from this game that eclipses Dead Space when comes to the atmosphere and overall creepy factor.

Traveler5939d ago

I'll be honest, Alan Wake is the game I am looking forward to the most this year. I know, I know, we have God of War 3 and Halo Reach and a ton of other amazing looking games, but Alan Wake is the game I want to play the most. It looks absolutely incredible. It is exactly the type of game I have been dying to play.

Saaking5939d ago

lol @ we won.

Sure man, of course it does. lmao.

HighDefinition5939d ago (Edited 5939d ago )

I love it.

Luigi`s Mansion now Dead Space. Those two games mixed sound super interesting...don`t they?

HammockGames5939d ago (Edited 5939d ago )

Dead Space is widely considered the standard for survival horror this gen and is absolutely one of my favorites of all time. Nearly everything was perfectly disturbing about that game.

If Alan Wake can meet or exceed that level of atmospheric intensity I'll be very impressed - but that's going to be very tough to deliver.

Edit: @ Saberedge - uh, you're the first one to throw the PS3/fanboy argument into the mix... :/ Why toss that into the discussion?

SaberEdge5939d ago

This guy is giving his opinion. You other people haven't played it. Why is it that if it is a PS3 game it is given all the benefit of the doubt and people just know that it will be amazing, but when it comes to 360 games certain fanboys act like we should be extremely doubtful and assume that it won't be good unless proven otherwise?

All I can say is that what I have seen of Alan Wake looks extremely promising and I am willing to bet that it will turn out to be an amazing experience.

And for those trying to downplay the graphics, just don't. It only makes you sound bitter and fanboyish. Anybody with two working eyes can see that it looks amazing.

EVILDEAD3605939d ago

Throttle back..Alan Wake looks cool and all..but it resembles the creepiness of say Silent Hill...

Dead Space was on a whole different level. In fact, playing that game every night around midnight with the surround sound turned up was as intense as it got this gen.

In fact, hands down one of the best endings in survival movie history. (stolen by a certain 'Paranormal' movie..but I digress)

The original Fatal Frame still has the crown..but if Alan's first level can provoke those level of intensity and fear..then this game might be really special after all.

Look forward to finding out either way...

Cause he`s angry and confused?

Cause he`s mad he can`t afford both systems?

Cause he`s stupid?

Cause he`s blinded by marketing?

Pick one.

gamer20105939d ago

Ok I didn't know that it was supposed to be super scary. I thought it was more of a spine tingling thriller. You know but I guess this journalist saw something that made him think that so I will reserve judgment for the final game.
As long as it has the deep plot development that it seems to have I am perfectly fine if it has some downright scary moments.

SaberEdge5939d ago

"uh, you're the first one to throw the PS3/fanboy argument into the mix... :/ Why toss that into the discussion?"

Because when you have guys like HighDefinition, Saaking, cyguration and Clownbelt in the article it automatically becomes about downplaying the game, giving it backhanded compliments, and things of that nature.

@HighDefinition

No, bud, I have both consoles. I will start up Uncharted 2 right now and play with you if you like. Just because I defend the 360 from unwarranted attacks does not mean that I don't have and enjoy both consoles.

SL1M DADDY5939d ago

That might have been possible a couple years ago when Alan Wake was an open world game but now that it is linear, tough luck. Too bad they had to scale the game down just to make it look as good as they wanted it to ont he console. I wish they would have just dumbed down the graphics and kept it open world.

Bungie5939d ago (Edited 5939d ago )

that's just a fact

anyway love the look of Alan Wake, best story driven game of 2010 with Mass Effect 2 of course.

the game have cars flying at you and a tornado and all kind of creepy thing.

GOTY contender for sure , and best looking console game imo :)

Traveler5939d ago

I have to agree with you there. Alan Wake looks like it will be one of the best story driven games of the year. And the graphics are among the best. It looks breathtaking.

HighDefinition5939d ago (Edited 5939d ago )

As much as I want to play Alan Wake and as good as it looks, it is NOT the best looking console game. Even the most hardcore 360 fanatics won`t agree with you on that one.

Sorry.

With that said, Alan Wake is the best looking 360 game on the rise and looks like it`ll be a great game to own, is that really such a bad thing?

SaberEdge5939d ago

HighDefinition, you are so damn biased it is ridiculous. Claiming Alan Wake isn't one of the best looking games on any console is what is absurd. When the most recent trailer was revealed there were lots of people saying that it had some of the best graphics of any console game. You and the rest of the hardcore PS3 loyalists are the only ones trying to pretend the graphics aren't amazing.

HighDefinition5939d ago (Edited 5939d ago )

You wanta try again w/o putting words in my mouth.

At NO point did I say it wasn`t **ONE** of the best looking, he said it WAS the best looking, which it is not.

Don`t let some mislead hate you have for me let you misread my comments, calm down.

So, to answer your question. YES, the graphics are amazing. Are they the best EVER.....No, not at all. Don`t let it get your panties up in a bunch.

Some of you 360 fans are psychos.

Xi5939d ago

I swear only the ps3 was capable of this level of graphics. By far one of the best looking games this generation, if not the best.

Good work Remedy.

SaberEdge5939d ago

@HighDefinition
"he said it WAS the best looking, which it is not."

So what? He thinks it is the best looking game, just as I am sure you have one game that you think looks the best. It's opinion.

My problem with what you said is that you acted like you were correcting him, as if your opinion were fact.

k-Lan5939d ago

Good job SaberEdge. HD and the rest of the PS fanboys will hate no matter what. EVERYTHING on the PS3 is better then anything else according to these guys. Must be hurting for some reason. Maybe it's because the PS3 is in 3rd place. Who knows?

ClownBelt5939d ago

If intense means walking in a straight path without anything happening then yes.

k-Lan5939d ago

What videos have you been watching? Alan Wake looks awesome! Maybe you can pick it up on your PC and find out for yourself just how boring and dull the game will be. Who knows, maybe you're lucky and got to play the game early. IMO you're just hating for no reason. Sad

swiftshot935939d ago

Well I hope we see some new footage soon. I honestly havent seen anything from the game suggesting its more intense than Dead Space.

cyguration5939d ago

but so far none of Alan Wake has been disappointing. It's almost just the opposite which is very surprising given how little the game was talked about leading up to its recent surge in the press.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
