I'll never understand for the love of me why people buy into this smartphone crap. I understand some people a tech enthusiasts, but do most people really need to have the internet readily available to them everywhere they go?

Eventually, people ill realize that they don't need expensive mobile phones. U could buy a PS3 or 360 for the price of most smartphones today.

MS seems to be late to the party when it comes to this kind of stuff. People who wanted an iphone got an iphone. Same goes with the ipod. It doesnt matter that the zune or this phone were better or worse because the people have already gotten what they want.

This phone may be better than an iphone but it still wont matter as the thing to have is an iphone. Not an zphone. Same held true for the ipod. Zune may be better in many ways but the thing to have is the ipod.

@D4RkNIKON you can bite my glorious golden a**! I am a fan of the new interface. I have been an iphone user for about 4 years now. It will be a nice change from this out dated UI. I don't know about most of you but just a bunch of icons on a page is getting a little old now. However I am still going to wait to play with it to pass judgement.

I love the user interface. It is not overly fancy looking i.e. slow your device down, but extremely efficient.

I love the phone. Question is, GSM, G3/G4, factory unlock, dimension and Xbox Live Arcade Games?

Right now iPhone has nothing special to being catch up. Most phone factories had models with the same or better functionality of the iPhone.

If anything is to stop the iPhone, it have to fight for brand market share. Try to be next cool thing, put the brand over the real value. Or whatever those philistines like...

Because Flash is slowly dying. Microsoft is pushing Silverlight and HTML 5 is at our doorstep. You don't "need" flash anymore to build rich web apps anymore.

I was ready to trade in my BlackBerry for an iPhone or a Nexus One this summer, but I think I might wait to see to Windows Phone 7 Series has in store.

Well you'll have to wait until the end of the year for the Windows 7 mobile OS phone (mouthful). So if you do hold out, I hope it's worth the wait.

Thankfully my current iphone contract runs out in November, so if it's good, they might manage to sway me away from Apple, although I do dearly love the iphone.

I'm a sales rep for AT&T and thats all we get around here is iphone iphone iphone. Don't get me wrong, the Android is nice but the iphone will always reign supreme without a doubt.

It's number one all over as far as sales go.

That's probably because AT&T sells the iPhone now and only recently announced support for Android. Why would they mention Android to you before AT&T's 5 devices have been revealed?

Actually RIM is the number 1 smartphone manufacturer all across the board. The Curve series outsell the iPhone by a large margin.

and i like it a lot. The windows mobile 7 ui is pretty nice (always liked the zune's interface but never bought).

I like android so i may stick with it but i feel they need a better music player. Im hoping Sony Ericsson X10 can fill that void if it comes with 2.1

If they include replaceable batteries, flash 9 support, some good apps, a bigger HD,ect. And you will no doubt get me to switch from the iPhone. And I due heavily stress flash 9 and some good apps. Some of iPhones apps are s**t.

They should try and focus on making the impossible things on iPhone possible. If they can offer a comparable experience plus do all of the things that the iPhone can't or doesn't do, it might help strengthen their case.

Yes and no. Not nearly as many people know about BB's as they do the iphone. Blackberry is a tough sale sometimes where with iphone, people walk right in and say "i want iphone"

iphone sells way better than blackberry on our network. Thats like saying Dante's inferno will sell better than God of War. As much as I DON'T want that to happen, it might because DI is multi-plat. There are multiple carriers for BB where the iphone is exclusive (for now) to AT&T

i've only owned ipods but my brother has had a zune and I've played around with a Zune HD and they are great and are perfect alternatives to ipods. Well there's a crapload of good alternatives to the ipod

I love LOVE my iPhone 3GS, but I'm very excited to see what kind of phone Microsoft comes up with because I really the Zune's interface. All this technology is exciting and it would be really interesting to see what Microsoft will come up with to challenge the mighty iPhone.

Well, they are working with other phone developers to deliver their operating system for other manufactured hardware- for those who don't trust Microsoft hardware.

If the Xbox 360 (despite it's heat-related problems due to rushing it out the door in 2005) is any indication, Microsoft's hardware is quite capable!

Microsoft makes all its money on Windows and Office.
Xbox and Zune are sinking ships that Microsoft does not want to put to bed.

As you can see from this link Microsoft average over $4 Billion per quarter with Windows and Office over the pass 4 years but with the release of Windows 7 it has jump to near $6 Billion just for Windows alone

Now take a look at Microsoft's Profits for Entertainment and Devices (Xbox & Zune), in the last 4 years it remains almost profitless by Microsoft's standards

Thats because the xbox and Zune (and Windows Mobile) are part of a greater strategy than just making money upfront. Microsoft has always owned the home PC market. However what will this market look like in 10-20 years time? Will it be the traditional 'PC', will it be TV based consoles? Will it be SMART phones? Microsoft is wise to have a product line in all of these areas regardless of how much money they lose. Who knows what tomorrow will bring...

I wonder if the Zune phone will have a blue screen of death. Haha, I kid, I kid. Seriously though, I have an iPhone 3G and competition is always welcomed. When the next iPhone comes out in June/July this year, it better have a large number of new features or I'm just going to stick with my 3G or get a new phone.

Actually its quite funny that the Zune players were always built better then the Ipods. Especially the new Zune HD. Far difference from the build quality of the older Xbox360's which were crap. The Zune HD and 3rd gen Zunes are top quality builds.

This software can be huge if MS does it right and it seems they are. Intergrating Live with WINMO7 and the Zune interface? XBL games on your phone with achievments? Halo and gear games possible in the near future?

The Zune HD is superior in almost every aspect over the iPod touch other than 3rd party Apps... yet people buy the iPod touch.

The thing with how the market works is that once you have a name installed into the society, the society will go for that name. That's mostly the reason people buy an Ipod touch over a Zune HD, because everyone else knows about it or has it. Zune HD... not so much. I love the Zune HD and wonder what would happen if both brands were as universally accepted, then wonder where the market would go.

it is a shame. I haven't got a Zune yet, but have played with one and was blown away. I have been holding out for phone/gaming'music/media from ms. I am hoping that We get the true 'iphone killer' that everyone seems to be looking for.

Choice is always good in my books!

once again MS late ... even thoe they have windows mobile phones but now they trying to compete i highly doubt that will happen look what happend with the zune vs ipod thats a loosing battle ...

and a lot of people have iphones a lot and just cause ms releases windows 7 and promotes the crap out of it it wont change peoples mind about the iphone cause apple is releasing the new iphones in summer and we dont even know what they gona include probably new things like flash 9 support and better apps and other stuff yeah windows will have a handful.

i want an iphone but i really want more nexus one or htc hero mostly for there extras ..especially with that new voice thing that when u talk it comes out in txt yeah that bought me and then the 5 mp camera and the free apps

They'll have a piece of the pie but as far as challenging the iPhone then they can forget about it. I know there are a lot of MS fanboys here but the truth is the truth. MS has been playing "catch-up" with Apple ever since OSX came out. Competition is good, yes, but it will not come from MS. MS is far from being the company that once were and people are seeing that things can be better and there are other products that are just better. As long as MS has that clown Ballmer in the driving wheel then they have no hope of ever having the level of quality that Apple and other companies have. We all remember how Ballmer laughed at the iPhone when it came out and now see where it is. Now the same thing is happening with the iPad. it's almost a tradition, Apple comes out with a new product and everyone immediately dismiss and laughs at them. We'll come back here in two years when the iPad will already be a huge success and the same thing will repeat it self.

webOS, Android OS, BlackBerry OS, Symbian OS, Windows Mobile OS, Maemo OS, and even Samsung's new Bada OS are better than the iDon't.They are more open, allow for multitasking, have better email integration, and the hardware for most of these allow for battery removal and replacements, memory upgrades, and better functionality overall. The iPhone is an overpriced, overrated, overhyped feature phone with a bunch of useless apps. I'll never get why iPhone is so popular when it has the most inferior of all operating systems

I wonder what the price on this will be there are somethings Microsoft should enter and not enter in the market. Zune vs Ipod people choose the Ipod. Zune phone vs Iphone people will choose the Iphone. I wonder howlong before Microsoft introuduces the Zune Pad to compete againest the Ipad.

Or manufacturing them. they are setting the minimum requirements and letting at least 7 companies use windows 7 OS with their phones. So you will have several different cell phones with all these features

LG, Samsung, HTP, HP, Dell, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba, Garmin, Asus and Qualcomm) and carriers (T-Mobile, Orange, Verizon, VodaFone, Sprint, Verizon, Telefonica, AT&T and Telstra, among others).

Android will rape whatever OS Microsoft has in store for this phone. But sooner or later people will realize that the iPhone is a raw deal in terms of service (AT&T LOLZ) and accesability. You still cannot download anything to an iPhone OS machine without going through iTunes, which while great for what it does, only does a few things.

M$ will not catch the iphone. The Zune Hd came out to go against the Ipod touch and I don't hear anyone talking about it. The Zune phone looks horrific. Its has no curves to it and it looks like one those old garage door openers.

Apple dominates this market now. Why are all these people going to dump their handset and just go Microsoft?

EPIC FAIL. No one can't compete with iPhone. iPhone have the largest FANBASE in cell phones right now. million apps and music, movies, TV shows, even though I hate to admit, but I don't think Windows 7 mobile phone would even come close challenge or taking on the iPhone.
