at that moment i expect BC to return to the PS3..

i have syphon filter digitally downloaded on my ps3 but i would pay for the series on one blu ray in HD..

then again, i would play socom II on ps2

every1 complains that ps3 lost its backwards compatibility, but whose fault is that. when they had on the market you didnt buy 1 cuz u said it was too expensive. so they removed the ps2 chip and made it cheaper and still u guys arent happy

I believe they will release PS2 games on the PSN when they discontinue the PS2 AND PSP2 has been released, the PS2 games will be playable on PS3 and PSP2 just like the PSOne classics.

Exactly. Anybody that dares complain that there is no BC in their 40 gig or other PS3 console needs to remember they had their chance. If you complain, then why didn't you buy the 60 gig? I have two PS3's, one being a 60 gig and the other a Slim. Do I play PS2 games much? Nope. BC is for when the console is first released IMHO and now that there are tons of great PS3 games, you should just be moving on to the current gen games.

Damn straight. I'm going to have PS2 in my clan name tag from now on for a few months in remembrance of the PS2, the console that only did everything. I also give a shout out to the Dreamcast which was one badass system also, hence forth I will also use Sega as my clan name from time to time. Long live the older systems for you will not be forgotten by me.

Not being a fanboy, but:

Revolutionary, Innovative, Variety for Casuals and Hardcore, best for Entertainment, that is what PS3 offers.
And those who are complaining about PSN (also is free) will come with PSN Premium, amazing and better Services than others can't provide.

Even they have the most anticipated games in 2010, not only 1 or 2 games.

I also check the Catalog of exclusives for 2010, and is huge, also more variety and not the same generic thing, not even the competitors can look at that.

I still prefer my PC, but for Console. PS3 is the smart choice for Gaming and Entertainment.

I'd consider a flamebait article to be praising one console/game/etc and bashing the other, but not once in this article did they do that. You want flamebait, Jim Sterling says hello.

according to this one sentence it completely negates everything it argues.

It's saying the ps3 never had a supply issue during launch, was never too expensive, never featured a drought of good exclusives etc. Yet the article says that it did. It's just poorly written and ass backwards.

Lol. I mean come on. Compare the exclusives list with an un biased mind and 9/10 times its the PS3. It was always here. Its just for some reason their was extreme media hate. The PS3 has done very well, and it'll continue to do well right up until the PS4. Will it beat the Wii in sales figures? I doubt it, but it will continue to gain a bigger market share; and with all these games coming out i.e. Heavy Rain and GT5, I can see this will be a great year for the PS3, and for gamers.

This is a pretty good article. I don't really agree with everything in the article, and it appears to be based mostly on anecdotes. But still pretty good. If you care to know what I disagree with then keep reading, but if not that's cool too.

Repeat No. 1 - PS3 shortages were stemmed by not releasing in any more territories than the supply could handle. The first 3 weeks after release it was pretty tough to put your hands on one, but by Christmas retailers were restocked and good to go and the people looking to make a quick buck on eBay were sorely disappointed.

Repeat No. 2 - The PS2 launched at the same price as the PS1. I don't recall anyone really complaining about that other than mainstream media. Gaming media applauded the fact that the prices were the same. The PS3 launched at twice the price of the PS2. People were definitely disenfranchised because of that. Many couldn't afford a PS3 until it hit $299.

Repeat No. 3 - The PS2 did not further DVD like PS3 furthered Blu-ray. It just did not. People were already on board with optical storage for games because we'd already been through it with PS1, Dreamcast and Saturn. And not all PS2 games came on DVD like PS3 games come on Blu-ray. I still have many blue-tinted CD's with PS2 games on them. What truly pushed DVD adoption is manufacturers just dropping production of VHS due to how expensive it was. Also, DVD had been on the market for 3 years before PS2 came along. Blu-ray owes its success fully to PS3 since the majority of Blu-ray players were PS3's.

Repeat No. 4 - This is total opinion with nothing more than anecdotal evidence behind it. What some people call intricate others might call eccentric. In their early years developers struggled with the intricacies of each platform, so I'm not sure this is as big of positive as the article makes it out to be. Ultimately, however, these intricacies have led to great games.

Repeat No. 5 - Opinion, yet again. Practically every console has a dearth of games after it releases. There are usually only one or two notable games and that's it. To be perfectly candid, God of War III and Heavy Rain are fantastic exclusives. But those games could easily be done on PC. And probably the 360 as well.

Overall a good read, but Ernice Gilbert's relatively short memory is definitely showing with this one. The PS3 is doing a fantastic job since its rebirth late last year and there are some really fantastic games out there.
