The biggest asset the arc has is its cheap as chips its going to be DS3 price and the camera is already £10-£15.

pricing is not as important as killer apps whoever views it as a console launch in terms of software support will win the fight imo :) unless one falls apart technically.

So far both companies have totally lacked vision and imagination in getting these products going.

Anyway, I will get the PS3 motion controller, even if there aren't many games for it. Sure it might be late to add motion controls, however I think that the games released for it will be pretty sweet.

I think prices will be the deciding factor in the success of these devices. For PS3 owners without an PSEye, they will have to buy a more expensive bundle package, whereas those who already have the cam will opt for the less expensive wand by itself.

If you look at Sony's support for the PSEye, it's basically non-existent. People will be buying a secondary device (the cam) for the strict purpose of operating the wand. There aren't games that use the Eye, except Eye of Judgement and maybe a couple others. Sony is selling two pieces of hardware to the consumer. They'll be making quite a profit because hardware costs a few dollars to manufacture.

The only piece of hardware in terms of it genuinely exciting people wont be the Arc.I do however think the Arc is a better system in a couple of ways but with Natal, the audience it can potentially attract are those that probably aren't all that interested in games- even Wii can't manage this, but then it already has it's audience

That Minority Report style future is very much what people want to think of regards to their tech future and waving two coloured ball sticks around in a similar to how Wii also does this, wont entice them or indeed those with a Wii already i doubt

I'd truthfully much rather the Arc system than Nintendo's Wiimote considering the Arc demos- FPS with Arc could be rather good for example

However Arc in comparison to Natal even if you think Arc is better tech, is still very much at odds with what people consider trendy and future like- Arc is toy like and at odds with the beauty that is the PS3 design.You wouldn't expect much of ipod's audience to suddenly be drawn to an extra peripheral if it was at odds with the system.Those lolly sticks will be quite out place i fear on Sony's machine alienating core users for sure in a way that Natal wont half as much.Natal will offer a more mature take on interacting with both game and media sofware so of course it wont all be about dancing around arms and legs

What's interesting is how many people here think of MS as dumb and their being no chance of Natal coming in at anything less than astronomically priced.And that's just what MS are banking on people thinking too

360 fans by 360 games and accessories. This is already a proven fact. PSeye has been out for a while and not alot of PS3 users even have one yet.

So I'm going to go by buying history. Overall they have the opportunity to do well (Look @ WiiMotion+ adpotion rate) its just up to how open minded PS3 and 360 fans truly are.

Oh sure price alone will settle this. How each peripheral performs is completely irrelevant. If Natal is full of bugs,still has the delay in following movement and has shovelware for games but costs fifty bucks why not buy it? And of course Microsoft's inexperience with the casual market won't factor in either. Or Microsoft's habit of creating glitchy hardware? This is not to say the Wand won't have its problems too but Sony's experience and history of solid hardware still stands tall and I would rather trust the Sony Wand then Natal which will probably overheat the moment you turn it on and will have to be patch a dozen times at least

SONY doesnt stand a chance with arc against Natal. SONY does a lot of things right, but PS Eye and Head set had horrible marketing and you can bet as much as MS has put into Natal they will easily out market Arc by far.

The PS3 took years to get any kind of effective marketing, MS has been marketing great since day one. Because this is a gimmicky device that is fairly new to the audience of PS3 and MS, this will take great marketing to push it and MS knows how to pull that off much more than SONY.

Even games that suck on Xbox and there are a tons, are marketed by MS much better

Sony has learned their lesson when it comes to price points.

I expect that Sony motion controller will be priced competitively.

I would be shocked if Natal is priced at $50. But that would be a very smart move by Microsoft if they could launch Natal at $50.

They see that Nintendo sells lots of remote accessories which is true cause lot people keep asking me do you have any more Wii remotes and say no SOLD OUT. haha the only reason natal is now $50 is because the internal chip has been taken out, i hope everyone enjoys the horrible input lag, which is inevitable, natal will have games, but once customers find out the truth and know the hypes was BS, than natal will flop.
Finally there are quite a few of us who already own the psEye, like myself (bought it with eye of judgment), so our motion control cost will be cheap, compared to others.
Finally I think none of the motion controls will be as successful as the wii, addons always do not do well..
If the original eyetoy could not be an astounding success and it did 30fp (just like natal), the only huge down was the fact your room needed to be well lit and it did not really track your body movements perfectly. Natal will have different problems it will be able to track body movements better, but the input delay shall gimp the whole experience, maybe in 5 years time they will do wands when they realize you need more than just a camera.

Shovelware? This game is freakin sweet. They advertise it as some kind of anime porn or whatever, it has absolutely nothing to do with that. It plays like FF Tactics. The moves are great, game play is great, though can get a little repetitive, but overal its a decent 8. The only thing it has to do with "porn" is that you have to talk to girls, which are your comrades and build up a relationship with them so that you can have a child with them and use said child in the next gen.

It's on Disk in the EU for any US PS3 owners who don't want to download nearly 20GB.

They cocked the first's release up badly: 2 years late, only subtitles (because they take 2 years, don't they?), no DLC... unless you buy it from US PSN which gets you DLC and Trophies (No trophies for EU? WTF).

Let's hope 2 will be more consistent across regions.

It was on a disc in europe. Which is how I and other smart people bought it.
