its over rated
its a good game but really anitclimatic and underwhelming after you get used to the eye candy
huge focus on talking to people
which can be fun but then it become formula

the action stages are also formualaic with "bosses" being really underwhelming

there isnt that many differences between team mates in battles i find

soem serious glitches which made me restart levels like id jus start floating to the roof and couldnt move

eye animations are creepy sometimes

searching planet gets real boring fast

these are soem of my complaints that no reviews mentioned for some reason

I haven't played Mass effect 2 but I had the first one and loved it. The one thing I never liked about it though is that you don't really get to carve out your own Sheperd. Your choices are either to be, 'Cheeseball McAwesome, brave and noble defender of the weak' or 'Awesome McBadass. Tough and rebellious hero who gets the job done his/her way whether those pencil pushers in city hall like it or not'. I find both of those characters to be entirely too played out.

The awesome thing about a game like Fallout 3 is that you can craft any kind of nuanced character you choose. By the end of the story you could prove yourself to be a noble incorruptible hero, a violent sadistic maniac, a sly opportunist willing to stab his best friends in the back for the right price, a wannabe good guy who gives in to temptation, whatever you want. In Mass effect (the first one at least) your choices as far as character was concerned were, 'Do I want to hear the Captain Kirk dialogue or do I want to hear the Dirty Harry dialogue?'.

Like I said though I loved the first game for what it was. I enjoyed making some of the big choices this article mentions. I just hated the lack of choice in the sense of character. I think it can dilute the thrill of even the biggest choices when you're not able to connect with your character.

And many we probably wont know the consequences till ME3 comes out.

In ME2 what you do or dont do determines which team members die or if none at all die. That is already just as deep as the decisions from ME1.

There is a HUGE decision you have to make at the end and im sure it will play a HUGE part in ME3.

For me the entire ME2 was important decisions, far more to make and far more important then the ones in ME2.

I think this guy misses the theme of the game. I think the theme was sticking to your morals and not letting the people around you influence your decisions. Even if you play as a ruthless shepard this is possible. If you know the story behind the repears then you will see that they fit in with the theme perfectly. Shepard has a mission and he will not make compromises and wont be influenced to do others bidding.

Me2 is difference because you dont always know if youve made the right decisions and you dont always instantly see the effects. I Prefer it this way as it seems much more realistic as your decisions can have unforseen consequences(like in HL).

Just offthe top of my head I can think of FAR MORE decisions that I had to make in ME2 and the BIG DECESIONS YOU MAKE ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT IN ME2 then IN ME1.

Im not sure because I upgraded my ship alot but they actually used the upgrades I got for the ship so im really not sure how things like that will change if you dont do them.

there are SO many more decisions to make in ME2, this guy shouldnt make such statements when he cant possibly know all he other consequences by only playing through it once.

on the other hand, I know the other possibilities in ME1 from just playing it once.

ME2 simply has far more unknown consequences. For me I felt like I had far more important influence over the story in ME2 than 1 even though I couldnt completly control it like in me1.

I can think of quite a few decisions from me2 that might have huge consequences in ME3 far beyond which NPCs live or die. These "huge" decesions from me1 was simply who lives or dies while the ME2 decisions effect the ballance of the entire galaxy.

If this guy cant remember even one big decision in the game I question if he even played it.

edit-- I found that the revelation about the prothians alone makes the story of ME2 better than ME1.

I am not counting out any of my decisions from ME2. I finished the game last night and started a new game....I have all but 3 achievements, I also managed to save my team...I just took my time getting to the omega relay when I should have been faster (you'll know what I am talking about when you play) and I don't like the outcome for my crew. My choice (or non-choice) hit me in the end. Also, I feel like the final decision I made will REALLY bite me in the ass in the next game.

Yes, choices don't affect the game much, but the variety of options make for different experiences. Different dialogue, different events, different quests.

Choices do matter, they affect the loyalty of your crew.

And we all know what the loyalty leads to =)
Besides, it unlocks extra dialogue options that can make certain things in the game go smoother.

Not only that, theres missions where you can mess things up by pressing the right trigger during a cutscene and perform a renegade action.

I just knew this game were overrated. I`ve played first 4 hours and I stopped.
Why?
Because it got boring.
Hope people enjoy this game, but it is not a 10/10 game. More like 8/10.
For me 6/10.

They got ONE thing right in ME2- they got rid of that annoying dune buggy!
