the reviewers are having trouble reviewing MAG because is an MMO shooter whose competition at the moment is Planetside a 2003 game or battlefield 1942 and 2012. So, what reviewers did was compare MAG to CODMW2 which it was a huge mistake in that CODMW2 is a fps game not MMO shooter. White Knight Chronicles was mixing JRPG elements with MMORPG elements so, the closest game to compare it to is Final Fantasy Xll. These are not popular genres and they are pretty original games, established franchises like Metal Gear, Mario, Halo, God of War easily can get a 9 or higher rating. MAG and White Knight Chronicles are not those games, I mean reviewers were expecting MAG to be like CODMW2 I'm sorry but is not in terms of online play and White Knight well I will rented to see if is good or not. Heavy Rain is the first ever true mature game that is designed for adults and I'm sorry if the reviewer is a person that is not into videogame innovation and tries to compare Heavy Rain to Silent Hill well is not gonna get a good score. The problem is when it comes to innovation reviewers are afraid of it and don't know how to review the game and rely on its flaws alone is a shame that reviewers today have truly lost the passion of gaming.

2009 was such an awesome year for PS3. I'm still completely hooked on Killzone 2 and Demon's Souls, not to mentioned all the time I'm still yet to pour into Uncharted 2, and a whole heap of stuff I'm backlogged with for lack of time.

It's a good thing too, because 2010 looks completely uninteresting to me. Maybe late in the year it'll be good but for probably the first 6-9 months of 2010 there's literally nothing I'm waiting for.

So, yeah...for me it's definitely a weaker year. I don't own a 360 yet but if I run out of good stuff from 09 and earlier (I actually don't think I will anyway to be honest), I would be temped to get one.

The only area that PS3 is dropping the ball is the online arena. 4 years into the life cycle and I still can't cross game voice chat. The biggest issues with Sony is that they get distracted to easily. Seriously, if they didn't spend so much time and money on Home, their online infrastructure would have been equal or better than Microsofts by now.

... MAG and WKC have been huge let downs (score wise.) But I think Heavy Rain and GOW3 will redeem it. Hell, it’s not like Too Human meant Microsoft dropped the ball.

I hesitated at clicking the video because of the title...but he got me. I was intrigued to see if there was going to be an insightful discussion on "dropping the ball" or what. To my surprise, there was actual information. That being said, it WAS old info...but info nonetheless. The actual discussion of the title was more of a "feeling" than a full blown thought. The point has been brought up in other threads with added FLAME! So, overall it wasn't so bad. I don't have issues with someone using a sensational title to get hits...as long as there IS information within and it is NOT just flame. I'll probably check this kid out again.

I don't understand why members are saying all this crap. Like yeah the 360 needs to come back and all that. North America is the console market king now. The Japs are more obsessed with the Wii and DS than any other market... check the sales trends please. Sony needs to gain more ground in the U.S. I hope to God that GOW does that for them. They can't rely on FFX13 anymore because previous PS2 owners who dont have a PS3 but have a 360 will most likely get it on 360. Its Sony's exclusives that will push the PS3.

Sony has made alot od mistakes over last two years. Making ridiculous claims, and releasing how many PS3 versions again? I like Sony, but MS has made all the right moves, more importantly they did so earlier than Sony. i hope they don't steal another one of the PS3's major exclusives. Its these that would make the previous PS2 owner come back. The Console war is only now started. Sony is gaining ground, lets see MS's reaction... Sony hasn't dropped the ball, they've now picked it up.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
