
To recap: Commander Shepard, who fended off the civilisation-devouring Reapers in the first game, is resurrected by shady pro-human organisation Cerberus to deal with the Collectors, a nefarious, insect-like race of aliens who are abducting entire human colonies. He (or she) must assemble a crew for the Normandy SR-2, then head into deepest uncharted space to hit them where they live.
Though everything is built on the success of the first game, the improvements - some subtle, others substantial - are everywhere. Menus are slicker and simpler; the galaxy map is tagged with mission locations and completion percentages; the clunky inventory system is gone, replaced with a streamlined system of upgrades and a small but meaningful selection of weapons.

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.
