Mining is one of the best things they have done to this game. Mass Effect one got real boring driving around the planets searching for deposits, then getting out of the vehicle and then back in. Scanning, if done right, is a little time consuming, but rewarding in the end.

BeaArthur5879d ago

It is definitely better in ME2 although even after you upgrade the scanner it still moves relatively slow.

I dont mind doing the mining now because I just explore every planet around when I go on a mission anyways.

And also you know what your mining so you dont haave to waste time getting a mineral you dont need.

Also the hacking and stuff has different minigames instead of that lame QTE button press thing taht was in the old game.

EDIT-yeah- the scaner goes slow, but I just quickly tap on the scan button as it moves so it goes fast, then slow really quick over and over. Once you get a small hit you explore that area. It makes it go faster.

the mining can be a little rough imho, it is an impovment over the first but sometimes I can only mine for so long and I alway pray for an anomoly.

with that said though, I loooove reading every planets bio, there is some really cool stuff in there, bioware are clearly sci fi geeks.

There are people who think the mining is good? WOW!

You realise the mining is just a speed bump right? To stop people blasting through the story in 6 hours... I mean, it's not a deep or interesting thing to do - it's just like grinding rats or collecting herbs or whatever (except you need to take extra time to go mining as opposed to collecting herbs on your travels in Dragon Age).

It's not a fun part of the game - just something thrown in to slow down your progression otherwise it'd all be over too quick.

I mean, it'd be more interesting if it was like the hacking or the circuit breaking - at least that can require some dexterity and be tense.... but mining?? You need to play eve if that's your idea of fun.

Whatever next? People getting excited about the elevator rides - oh that was ME1 lol.

r.

You dont have to mine, you just wont get any of the upgrades.
And i doubt you can speed trough the game in 6 hours if you do all the side missions, theres tons of them.

@BeaArthur

Not slow with the mouse :)

Still tedious though, it's the most boring part of the game.

I actually liked exploring in ME. To me, it felt more realistic. I wished they had made all the planets explorable instead of just a few in each system.

That's what I want, a fully explorable galaxy. No watered down crap :) I want Stargates too :)

So far, I have 16K for Element Zero and 50-50 for the other three elements. I'll deplete every planet on this game. I'm getting my money's worth out of this game!

is suprisingly fun. i dont understand why the oxm review said it was dull. it's slow, but it's fun. also, when you consider that in me1, you have to take 5 minutes just to climb up a hill with the mako to get to a mineral, this is a lot faster.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast451d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine451d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast451d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman451d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast451d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave699d ago (Edited 699d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
