After the previous hard fought battle from Mass Effect 1, Commander Shepard and his crew wasted no time getting back to work, as the crew of the Normandy was sent out to deal with the remnants of the Geth to drive them out of the Alliance's space. While hunting the Geth down the Normandy is suddenly attacked by an unknown force and as you fight to save your crew, namely "Joker" as he can't get very far in an emergency on his own, the Normandy falls. Not only is the Normandy lost during the battle, but also Shepard. The Alliance however never finds a body, but they list the hero as "Kill in Action." Leaving all of humanity to wonder just what happened to the first human Spectre."
