Since the ps3 is so hardcore where is my new strider game that is hard as nails, where is my sequel to double dragon 2 on the nes, where is a true platforming game that takes on Mario in 2d or 3d, where is my arcade shooter that don't have cover buttons and regen health, why don't hack and slash games play more like street fighter 2 with ai that blocks and counters you. Why does quake wars duck on the ps3, why did bionic commando suck in 3d? Why hasn't metal slug been made in 3d yet. Yet is ninja gaiden story better on the nes?

I don't see what is so deep about more detail and less types of games and even lamer storys. Skill based gaming is dead on the hd consoles and normal maps killed it along with online play.

Mega Man is more hardcore than mario... Uncharted has shooting, cover system, Platforming, story, he can fight...Sega Genesis games destroyed nintendo games back then... Sam Fisher and Solid Snake in stealth.... If the Wii is the Ultimate Hardcore game, I think every other game that are on PS3 and 360 should b exclusive on the Wii because of it's instaled base, Mario only jumps and fireballs, there's Samurai shodown and guilty gear if u wanna play hack n slash ala street fighter, but still, soul calibur is the best!!!!

If you look on the desk of many game designers what will you find TOYs and some of the coolest ones also. You won't seen ssd drives, chip debugging tech, or flop hungry simulations rendering.

You will find toys.... So maybe you should move to another hobby because console implies it is a toy. Pc are not sold in toys R us get my drift. So you better start calling hd consoles set top boxes instead of console.

What Nintendo game is getting sequels with 15,000 sales? Their core titles do quite well. And yes, Nintendo still makes core titles. I have no idea why some people want to pretend that the only thing Nintendo makes anymore is Wii Fit.

You want a challenging game? Go get all 120 stars in Galaxy; the first 60 stars come a LOT easier than the last 60.
Sink 70 hours into LoZ:TP and tell me how a casual gamer that doesn't care about gaming will manage to get through that.
Pick up Metroid Trilogy and get back to us in the 60-80 hours you'll take to finish it (at least) and say how those games aren't challenging.
Play PunchOut in title defense mode and see how long you last.

And yes, I'll compare any of Nintendo's core titles to the competition. Galaxy vs. Little Big Planet? Corruption vs. Bioshock? Zelda vs. Darksiders? Nintendo more than holds their own. That why ps3 sucks to me. It's multplats are not even as good as the broke system 360. I have all of the hd games I want on pc. And if I want to see what is on the ps3 I can ethier rent it and beat the game in less than a day yes you can rent systems, or I can just buy the game to play at the studio. To me hd console have under shot both catigories and I'm loving my new hd5000 ati card. Nmh2 is Tvsc sweet too.

Tales of symphonia 1-2 (with hardly any next gen jrpg being better , except on ps3 ) , Final Fantasy crystal Bearers (wich ironically does everything people feel ffxiii is lacking , but wont care about since it aint as prettyà) , fragile , Metroid Prime serie , Resident evil 4 on both gc and wii (the only good and creative RE in ages) , Still any mario Kart (with only wipeout hd and modnation racers as serious arcade concurrents so far) .

While pes and fifa were battling in out rehash hd style , PEs wii was still the only noticable innovation in the soccer genre , and the best version of both back then with the 09 editions .

No more heroes was easily above average stuff like DMC4 .

Any fighting games buff without a wii probably wishes for a Tasunoko VS capcom hd or sequel .

Fire Emblem , with only Valkyria chronicles on ps3 as a better game and more serious concurrent for the gen .

Fatal Frame 4 ... when almost no one bought the excellent remake of Siren on PSN , and with Silent hill ps3/360 being pure crap of alone in the dark level .

Monster Hunter 3 , when most 360 mmo are cancelled back and forth , and Sony struggling to release yet any real one ...

Sure it's not a list as big and complete as one on ps3 or even 360 , and i most likely forgot games , but those games still exist . Only way you could dismiss all of those titles is if you dont care about their genre anyway .

Hell i'll tell you a little "secret" :
I can't stand mario games at all , never could , partially because of the design , story and characters , with 2-3 exceptions :

- Mario kart

-Smash bros . Would i prefer it to feature characters like Jump on ds , or another franchise ? of course , but the game is just that good .

- princess peach on DS . A crappy character , and often forgotten game , but with loads of innovations for the platform genre .

-Super Mario rpg on snes . A marvel born out of square and nintendo , and the first proof that you can tell a good story with mario .

So if a mario hater can find other games on a Nintendo console , surenly anyone can .

Anyway there is hardly anything mature about a 12 years old kid oogling at boob physics in dead or alive . So again let's not mix "hardcore" gaming and "adult" themes .

Galaxy DID blow me away this gen. It has the best level design of any game I've played this whole generation.
Corruption blew me away. Visiting Elysia ranks up there with searching through Rapture for me.
PunchOut is cartoon-y. It's also damn hard. Much harder than any GTA I've played.

The Wii lacks innovation? In a gen where HD consoles have been focused on FPS, the best control scheme for them is NOT dual analog and never has been. The remote/nunchuck doesn't one up a KBM, but it's lightyears beyond DA.

Now you are absolutely right about Nintendo's online. They are way, way, way, way too behind in getting their crap together online. COD:MWR was a two-year old port made in 10 months by 30 people, and it walks on anything Nintendo has ever done online. That's EMBARRASSING. If big N doesn't have Retro working on an online shooter, I hope they do one day.

The online is indeed a sore sight bare a few exceptions . And like i've said here and in mutiple threads , the wii does have some annoying flaws ... but it still got quite some great games .

I basically settled for what was sure to become a secondary console to me , with games catching my interest once everywhile . Basically like i did with the GC back then .

My biggest complain remains wiimote often only a gimmicky used device . Or that most of the wii best games dont even need or really use the wiimote (beyond waggling) ... but then again i didnt buy the console unlike many for a wiimote effect ... but for sure things , games i knew would be stellar . And they were/are .

Lack of HD would be second . And on this one i'm not convinced at all that with less greed Ninty couldnt put it .
But it is what it is , and like i mention often , at least there is still the emulator option for pc owners (but please only with legit games)

Many would be surprise how a simple upscale make some games really shine graphically .
Sure it's not the same as a game designed as HD from the ground up , but it's still nice . And besides we know that to this day , many ps3/360 multiplatforms games , and some exclusives , arent even really HD but below in resolution for technical purposes , and still can look great .

To me hardcore is zack and wiki, pokemon, Tos Dawn of the new World. Sure they look cartoony, but they clock in major hours. A game itself is not hardcore, the person is. Someone said a hardcore movie buff is one who loves to watch movies and is obsessed with em. same for a hardcore gamer. So WOW and Pokemon are more hardcore than God of War ever was. Who clocks in WOW or Pokemon hours on God of War, and don't get me started on Brawl and BWii. I've run across people online in BWii who had 200 wins on day one of its release. Nice that you glossed over the games I mentioned. You wanna own Metroid on veteran or hyper difficulty? Yes it's a compilation (although no one complained with Orange Box), but Trilogy does include Echoes, and if you think Devil May Cry holds a candle to the wretched challenge in that game, you aren't being serious.

God of War? Played it. Now, Nintendo isn't going to make a gory beat 'em up, but third parties have stepped up with that on Wii. Try cranking up the difficulty in NMH or playing the boss rush in NMH2. Good luck.

Killzone? Yay, we finally got to the pure shooter category! Because on Wii, you have to actually AIM well when you play. You can hide a lot with dual analog with aim assist/sticky aiming/larger hit boxes/bullet curving, etc. etc. etc. Go online in TCon or COD:MWR with players who have their settings maxed out for ultra-twitchiness. You'll find nearly PC-levels of ninja-ing. Then you'll step from behind cover to die via headshot from someone across the map using an ASSAULT RIFLE.

So...you were saying? Please, educate us misinformed gamers who own a Wii and play some pretty difficult games (that you've apparently never touched) why they are so easy.

Mario is neither hardcore or casual, like you said.
But I seriously believe the gamers make a game hardcore or not. Prime example Pokemon could have been seen as casual at first, but people logged in so many hours and became fanatics. (You know, cause I was one.)So Nintendo added more elements to the game to call for more complex strategies and make it more Hardcore.

No console alone is Hardcore or casual, the person that owns it is. just like I've seen casual PS3 owners, I've seen Hardcore Wii owners. Playing harcore games on Easy doesn't make you hardcore. But again I agree even I wouldn't call Wii Hardcore King, but I would call it King of gaming.

Mario, Zelda, and Metroid are on the same level of Gears of War, God of War, and Halo (I can't speak for the Uncharted games, as I haven't played either). In fact, considering their track record...they're above all three. And no, none of Nintendo's franchises are hardcore. In fact, none of the games you listed were 'hardcore' either, because games aren't 'hardcore.'

Yes, I've played both God of War installments on PS2. Mainly because I love Greek mythology and the history of ancient (mainly pre-Hellenistic) Greece. And yes, maxing the difficulty on NMH was harder than beating Ares. And NMH2 is even harder than the original. But you'd know that if you had played it.

You know what real "serious gamers" do? They see that each console has both strong points and weaknesses. Put simply, if you can't find tough, core games on Wii, you aren't looking.

You can beat any Nintendo game in your sleep? Great, go pick up the Prime Trilogy, max out the difficulty on Echoes, and try to beat the spider and boost ball guardians on your first try.
(And if you'd played through all of the games mentioned, you really wouldn't need anyone to tell you why, for instance, title defense is a ball buster in PunchOut).

Look at snake in smash bros. brawl, he's one of the worst characters. he's too real. same for marcus fennix.
He get hit by a bullet he dies, Mario get hit by a bullet and he takes damage and keep going. Marcus shoots guns, Mario Shoots Fire, Ice, Stars, Earthquakes, Lightning, Star rod beams, etc.(Play the RPGs)
Marcus fights butt-ugly orc like beings. Mario fights, Bowser, A rock Golem that u have to grab exploding ghost bye the tongue to beat, Bone fish all the while holding his breath and using only shells as his weapon under water, A giant mole that carves a whole planet in half, and all he has is a bumble bee suit, A giant robot bigger than a planet, An ancient demon who plunged the whole world in darkness and possessed Peach, Count Bleck, A huge chinese style dragon using only bombs, That Shark Johnathan Jones, etc.

So if you look at them, No he don't look more hardcore than Marcus, but if you analyze what they both do, you know Mario would kill Marcus Fennix. He'd shoot and mario would knock the bullets back with his cape, or just take em while eating a mushroom (lol goofy i know) he try to chainsaw him, and he'd use his special from brawl on him, or his super strength and slap the gun out of his hand and swing him around like bowser. No realistic character can beat Mario, and don't get me started on Kirby, or Saki from sin and punishment.
