The New York Post:
There's always a feeling of unease when exclaiming something ultimately subjective that you want to be taken objectively. And so I write the following with minor trepidation.
Ready?
Mass Effect 2 is the greatest RPG ever made.

One of the best things about the Mas Effect series is the companions you meet along the way. So here is a tier list of all the companions from Mass Effect!
To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.
"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!
How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera
And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Wealth of Geeks explores some of the best gaming romances that have stolen our hearts over the years.
.....And also is a shooter XD
=/
I personally think it can't rival the classics:
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 6/7
Dragon Quest
Zelda: OOT
etc etc
But I havn't played the game yet, and am willing to be surprised!
Seriously I love Mass Effect 2 [A brief look at my comments should easily reveal this], love it to death been playing it for about 5 hours now; but I don't think it's the greatest RPG ever made...It's fine-tuned that much is for certain.
but then again, I don't usually like traditional rpg's much, really hate turned based and I can't really get into micro managing every little aspect of xp etc. I like the style of a Epic story driven game, and role play with interesting charachters, add a little shooter combat and I really love sci-fi universes, I was sad Too Human missed its potential, on paper it had all the right elements to make a AAA game, but the execution was not there, ME2 executes everything very well so yes its perfect for me, it hits all the aspects I like...so yeah, its the best rpg I've played.
Enjoy the game, and Good Night.

Fail
ME2 isn't a RPG
