Makes Heavy Rain outdated graphically Mass Effect 2 Character poly count and detail are astounding.

thewhoopimen5963d ago (Edited 5963d ago )

I beg to differ MGSR. Whoever did the textures in ME2 for that charc is certainly amazing and probably could rival Heavy Rain's in talent and expertise (that I am not questioning), but ME2's poly counts are nowhere near Heavy Rain's or even Drakes's. Look no further than the ears or the outline of the face and eyes (for the most obvious examples) and compare it with the shots from Heavy Rain. It is clear as day that the poly-count is far less. How many triangles do you think it takes to get a rounded face? ALOT MORE.

looking at Aquarius's pics... I think ME2's level is around Heavenly Sword's facial polycount... but the eye polys are still far lower than HS's Narikos. Texture work though seems superior in ME2 (but who designs wrinkly women?)

Arnon5963d ago

Uhh... no... not really. I think Mass Effect 2's character models are pretty far up there.

thewhoopimen5963d ago (Edited 5963d ago )

Pulling the ol' resize trick eh? I could make Mario's face in Mario Galaxy look as good as Nariko's if we resized pics to 200 x 50. Please don't try to downplay reality when we all have 1280 x 720 shots in front of us. You lose ALOT of respect.

Once more we are comparing 1280 x 720 shots of:

Next week needs to come the heck on quick! This will be my last weekend playing COD MW2 for a long time.

Rockox5963d ago

I've been finishing up a bunch of games because I know once this comes out, I won't be playing anything else. I just finished up DJ Hero, Dragon Age and Borderlands. Sadly, Assassin's Creed 2 will have to take a bit of a hiatus from my console.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast526d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine526d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast526d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman526d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast526d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave774d ago (Edited 774d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
