i like Infiltrator and Vanguard the most

Supa5973d ago

I'm having a tough time choosing between Engineer and Soldier... choices, choices...

Saaking5971d ago

Soldier is too easy imo. I'm going with Vanguard.

duplissi5971d ago

adept or sentinel for me.

i did my first playthrough as a soldier and i felt that playing that way the game feels less like an rpg.

SuperSaiyan45971d ago

Err no its out Jan 26th for USA and 29th for Europe...

QQcrybaby5971d ago

Soldier will probably be the most powerful again.

SuperSaiyan45971d ago

You can't be serious right? How stupid do you look whoever it was since the game is out next week!!!

Nihilism5971d ago

The class descriptions suck this time around, I get that engineer is the pure tech class, and that the apept is the pure biotic, but the other aren't real clear as to what role they play, I thought they were supposed to make them more unique, not more vague.

Is the infiltrator like tech-lite?

and vanguard biotic-lite?

and the sentinal the tech/biotic combo?

doctorspakles5971d ago

I like the changes. And feel they DID make them more unique. That is why you are having trouble fitting them into existing classes from the first game. You own comment attests to the more unique nature of the classes.

Nihilism5971d ago (Edited 5971d ago )

no it doesn't, they dumbed the classes down for ME2, there are half the number of skills, and even with that over-simplification the classes are still unclear, in the first game, the classes and cross classes were clearly defined by their skills, it's not like that with this game, and i'm not convinced it is a good thing. Because not only are there less skills, but the skills that there are no longer boost other skills via passive bonuses, so you really only have 5 or 6 skill trees, each some of which you may not want, but in the first game you could pump those skills for the passive bonuses anyway. There is a lot less choice in this game. Even reviewers that game the game 9/10 clearly said the leveling system was dumbed down

doctorspakles5971d ago (Edited 5971d ago )

Sure I can see your point. I still think the classes are more unique in this game due to the class specific abilities, I feel that these will lead to larger differences in PLAYSTYLE (hence uniqueness of classes) than were possible in the original.
However, one thing that bothered me while playing any class but the soldier in ME1 was that I had to bring up the wheel of choice every time I wanted to use a new ability. (well the soldier was the same I suppose but for some reason changing weapons with the wheel seemed less intrusive) Doing this on the 360 was at times less than smooth. With less skills they seem to have improved the gameplay. I can see your trepidation though as the dumbing down of Deus Ex in DX2 was very unwelcome, and the games are comparable in that they are both rpg shooters. Overall I see these changes as improvements. Here's hoping, as ME1 for me was awesome with poor gameplay. It looks to me like this game has rectified that problem

I like what they did with the classes. If you like some of the goodies that more than one class has you can use the combo classes.

dchalfont - What's with all the b!tching? Had they left the game the same as the first version would you be calling it ME1.5?

It is just too difficult to satisfy people these days, there is always going to be someone whining about something.

Nihilism5971d ago

WTF are you talking about, I like all the changes they've made to the game EXCEPT the class changes, inventory, world exploration, graphics, and frame rates are all things that needed changes, but they have just removed options from leveling up, how is that an improvement. Like I said, all the reviews so far have said that the leveling system is worse.

anast534d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine533d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast533d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman533d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast533d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan781d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave781d ago (Edited 781d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
