Flashback to 1995

1995 was a good year for video games with the release of the Sega Saturn and the Playstation 1. But it was an incredible year to be a PC gamer. Games like Warcraft and System Shock were released, monumental games that would shape the modern PC gaming world.

1995, huh? I remember Warcraft! Before WoW.

Heck everything game related back in '95 was just cool even though I was young. Now for some out of this world question. If a time machine existed what gaming year would you go back to(could be consoles or pc time eras)?

I would go back to '87 to play The Legend Of Zelda again for the first time. Also I would like to go back to '96 & '97 for when Goldeneye first came out & FF7. Also '98 for Metal Gear Solid. And lastly '85 when the NES first came out to US. Heck I wasn't even born then lol.

I would go back to 1999 now that was a fun year, I'd get a Dreamcast again

The Dreamcast in my book was a cool system. I never played online though.

I still take it out sometimes and play some HoTD 2 with the gun.

It was a great system.

1995 was good...

but 1998 was the best year ever for videogames. Check it.

Half-Life
Starcraft
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Resident Evil 2
Metal Gear Solid
Tekken 3
Parasite Eve
Unreal
Banjo-Kazooie
Rainbow Six
Baldur's Gate
Thief
Grim Fandango
Xenogears
Fallout 2
Final Fantasy Tactics
Spyro the Dragon

Absolutely untouchable lineup of future classics. I still play many of these games on and off to this day. I doubt we will ever see a year full of so much awesome again. You'll note that only 3 of these games are sequels to existing franchises all the others are original recipe. Don't get me wrong, 2010 is gonna kick ass there is no way around it. But I doubt we will see so many future classics release this year.

1998 was probably the best year of gaming ever.

2010 will be great, but not even close to what 1998 was. the media is just hyping the whole thing to expand the market/sales. just look at 98's list, look at it damn it!

bubbles for taking the time to write that list!

EDIT: you forgot to mention Gran Turismo (but it was out in 97 in Japan)

The mid to late 90s was great for gamers. I got my first PlayStation when I was 17 and JRPGs became my favourite genre. I had never played a PC game when the 486 platform was out. I started my PC gaming around 2005 when I started earning more money. There were so many great games at the time. Many different genres and titles. Final Fantasy 7, at the time, was new, as well with Final Fantasy Tactics. Many others came to fruition, and it was a good time to be a gamer. These days my PC can play anything in high resolution better than any console. Life's been good. :)

Only potential year that can beat that would be the year the new Zelda game comes out, as Nintendo is saying they are aiming to have it be better then Ocarina of Time

Solidus187-SCMilk5887d ago (Edited 5887d ago )

the rest of the list is great too.

I also had unreal, which was amazing grafix back in the day.

I had forgotten about 1998, Half-life, Starcraft, Re2, and Thief were all amazing games. I remember pouring hours into Half-life

All I've ever wanted in life was Night Dive to remake Deus Ex. Unfortunately we get Aspyr.

TGG_overlord70d ago

That would have been great with no doubt, but instead we got Aspyr...

TGG_overlord70d ago

I agree with you, but sadly enough, we got Aspyr...
