Ugh, it was terrible imo. Flying with the mouse was very frustrating. Other than the flying, this game in general seems very generic and dated.

OhMyGandhi5877d ago

The demo was horrendous.

Sloppy in every possible way.
Graphics were just annoying and as I said in my comment, were uninspired, and bland.

The textures are horrendous.

The music was too loud and intrusive and threw everything off.
I think they should of quieted the music so much so that only sounds of wind and the jetpack were heard. That would give the player depth, and sense of height and as well as a feeling of intimacy with the jetpack, which is the starring role of the game.

the cut scenes looked like crap. I cannot believe a TEAM full of people worked on those. It reminded me (as I am an indie game programmer/designer) of some of the crap 8 year olds would put together and throw every which way on the internet.

Nearly last gen in graphics.
and the "bloom" effect was so intense I thought that it was as if they splashed water on the lens of the camera (figuratively speaking) and tried rubbing it off with their fingers. I figure it's because the graphics were so dated that they needed to hide the low quality models and designs in some way.

Controls were annoying as hell. Flying felt like a choir, and fighting enemies while flying was just plain tedious. While running around on foot, the camera was WAY too close to the player and I couldn't see much at all of the rest of the screen. It's as if they thought Dead Space's camera wasn't close enough, so they decided to zoom twice as much so we could count the individual polygons on the jetpack.

what bugs me the most about the game though is that the concept is COOL. It's INTERESTING. Why make it more complicated than that? why have a cover system and the likes when all you want to do is fly around or run around and kill things?

Oddly enough, the interface reminds me alot of Too Human, which is rather ironic, considering the fact that this game's been in development for a hell of a long time and has nothing to show for it.

I don't want to bash this game, I really don't, but try harder for the love of god.

PS: I know graphics don't make a game, that's why I included bits about sound, UI, as well as controls.

Thanks, I appreciate the review. +bubble.

And to think I've been waiting for it for like 2 freaking years...

GamerPS3605877d ago

Completely agree. This game sucks from all corner but you might like it.

walken75877d ago

you'll defrag after deleting this cause you'll feel so dirty.

Nihilism5877d ago

haha, that bad huh?

The press worked in reverse for this game, going off the initial footage I would have bought it, nut there was a new clip each week, and all they did was show how sloppy and bland the game looked.

toaster5877d ago

lol No kidding. Big letdown.. this game has a god premise just execution is sloppy beyond belief. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, because I swear I have seen some Wii games that look better. Ran at 50-60 FPS for me though so they're doing Something right, which is better than I can say for some other new games.

Elven65877d ago (Edited 5877d ago )

Downloading the PC demo now but I've played it on the 360 yesterday. It seems A LOT like Crimson Skies: HRTR only not as good, the controls, flight mechanics, etc are almost a straight rip off of it which is a given since it was the team who made HRTR. The enemy design seems to be inspired by Mass Effect.

So far it doesn't seem like a $60 game to me, I think I might get it at $30-40 solely to support ex FASA people. I might use the remaining cash to rebuy Crimson Skies on XBLM! :P

Dark Void is a pretty decent game, I have it on disc for PS3 but hey... I'll grab it digitally to play on my Series S. Hard Corps Uprising is a freaking sweet (and hard) game. I've had that for a while and still cannot beat it.

Supernintendo851787d ago

@darthv72 Jesus Christ LOL, how on earth could you be downvoted for your opinion of the two games that are decent? This community sometimes i swear...

darthv721787d ago

It must be those that have beaten Hard Corps Uprising. That is their way of telling me I need to get good.

RazzerRedux1787d ago

Maybe they are downvoting because they disagree with his opinion.

Fritzwochel1787d ago

This is why sites like Reddit are trash. They auto-punish users who gets downvoted - thus if you have an opinion other than the poitical correct majoirty, you're getting all sorts of blocks.

CrimsonWing691787d ago

I'm all in for Dark Void and Hard Corps, but look... people have opinions. Maybe a majority of peeps don't agree with his opinion so they hit the disagree button, I don't know it makes sense to me.

Silly gameAr1786d ago (Edited 1786d ago )

@Supernintentendo

Best thing to do is not worry about those little arrows below your comment, and just say want you feel. You'll be much better off when you don't care about yours or soomebody else's downvotes.

On topic, I also have Dark Void for PS3, and it was pretty decent. Good enough for at least a playthrough.

PapaBop1786d ago

Since when do people care about votes on here? Everyone on here knows darthv72 is an xbox guy, he'd get more disagrees for saying white is white and black is black.

The Wood1786d ago (Edited 1786d ago )

Some people act like someone spat in their faces or they're credit score would be impacted. Some people don't agree.... .life huh

IGN said, "Dark Void is one of those games you'll play, beat, and forget ever existed."
Exactly my experience.

andron1786d ago

Dark Void possibly killed my phat launch PS3, with countless crashes and slowdown. So I have mixed feelings about that one lol. Mediocre game at best, and runs terrible on PS3. Hopefully the 360 version is better...

Chevalier1786d ago

Loved Hard Corps! But yeah get better 😆. By the time you unlock all the abilities you it just gets easier. Makes me wish they would continue with Hard Corps.

boing11786d ago

Yeah, Dark Void was pretty decent. Nolan North voiced main hero AFAIR.

Chocoburger1786d ago

Legit cringe when MS promotes Achievements and GamerScore. Sad state of affairs for them to be that desperate.

RosweeSon1786d ago

Making out those games are still worth $129.99 is bad enough 😑🤣 yeah maybe 10 years ago. Worth about 12.99 these days 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣 ✌🏻

Father__Merrin1787d ago

Lol the Austria leak was fake then. This looks better than last months which was rubbish

x_xavier_x1787d ago

*Truck Racing Championship*
"monitor tire wear..."

Yeah, that's what I want out of a video game. /s

What have they got in store for next month, Vehicle Inspection Sticker: The Game?

DOMination-1787d ago

It's a racing game.

It's no different than monitoring your health bar in an FPS or the time you spend watching a cutscene rather than playing.
