Plus, I have read in numerous articles that the Korean market in full of PC online enthusiasts. So I'm sure a lot of the gamers there are hardware tech saavy and have researched all of the new consoles. Kinda sucks when you overhype something but people still have access to the truth.

Kotaku wrote off the europe launch as a failure and they quickly took the news down the next day when the launch in europe actually broke records. Who's to say it wont happen again? I hope it does.

About your "list of lies" the majority are not lies...

4D - A gaming console cannot take you into the fourth dimension, unless it is able to bend space and time. When Ken Kutaragi said that the PS3 is 4D he simply meant that it will give you a very fun, exciting, in-depth experience that has never been seen before. Please do not take everything in a literal way. If you really knew what you were talking about, you would have not put 4D on your list, because you would have known that it is impossible for a console to provide 4D and that Ken did not mean it literally. If you disagree that the PS3 gives you this kind of experience that is your opinion, and does not reflect on the opinion of others.

120 frames per second - This was said before the console launched. They then changed it to 60 before the PS3 launched. If they had launched the PS3 and said that it had 120 FPS when it really didn't then that would be different. Microsoft however, is lying in this situation. They are saying after their console has been out for one year that its processor is more powerful than that of the PS3. This has been proven wrong multiple times. That counts as a lie. If Sony changed a spec before PS3 launched, and announced it, that does not count as a lie. Also, the Playstation Eye does support 120 FPS...

Dual HDMI outputs - Just like the 120 FPS, Sony took this feature out before launch and announced that it took it out. They didn't launch the PS3 with 1 HDMI port and claim it had 2....

Seven controller ports - Lol....If you actually watched the E3 press conference where this was stated, you will notice that Ken did not say that there would be seven ports. He said that you could connect up to seven controllers via bluetooth. And if you have actually used the system that you are repeatedly bashing, you will see that you can indeed connect 7 controllers via bluetooth. There are only four lights on the controller because Sony couldn't fit any. If you have 5 controllers hooked up, the 1 and 4 lights will light up signifying 5 (1 + 4 = 5)if you have 6 controllers, the 2 and 4 lights will light up (2 + 4 = 6) if you have 7 controllers, the 3 and 4 lights will light up (3 + 4 = 7). Again, you are the one lying, not Sony.

Next gen starts when Sony says it does - This is true. The next gen officially starts when all the next gen systems are out, not only one.

Ok. This is a common misconception. Sony never said that it was all in real time. When asked if it was, they responded by saying that that's what they are aiming for. "the look and feel of the game we're trying to make" notice how he said "trying", not "we have this in real time already."

Also, the Playstation Eye is at 120 FPS, they already have a demo of it running at 120 FPS. So, do not say it is making me look like an idiot stating facts. You cannot change reality. At E3 2005 Sony said the PS3 would run at 120 FPS. Then they announced that it would only be 60 FPS. Also, if TV's truly could not output at 120 FPS, that does not mean that Sony could not have made the PS3 able to run at 120 FPS so it could be used on future TVs.

I seriously doubt that Sony was referring to time when they spoke of 4D graphics. However it IS hypothetically plausible to represent an additional spatial dimension (5th dimension) with a 3D model, just as you can perceive a 3D object from a 2D picture. What complicated mathematical formulas the ps3 would need to use are beyond me though, and of course you would need some sort of 3 dimensional hologram to display it, but it IS theoretically possible. 5th dimension: maybe. But looking through time? Thats just crazy.

These pics reminds me of when this same website put up pics of like 1 person in line for I forgot what country and the PS3 ended up doing rather well for its first week sales.

I think PS3 is a good console; there is no doubt about it.

But since they it was not released before the xbox360, most people have got use to the idea of HD gaming and probably adds to the reason why gamers aren't as impressed with the system. It came out a year ago, I'm sure people would be ore of the system. But since I've grown accustom with playing the XBOX360 in the stores and my friends house. I'm not as impressed by the range of titles or the graphics displays.

Of course the marketing hype surrounding PS3, the large price tag attached to it and blue-ray technology which most homes don't have 1080p technology to really enjoy the benefits as well as large inflated prices on the disc which will drop. No great titles that have yet to be released (yes there are good games, not great)

I'm just going through reason that I can see why the launch isn't as popular as previous consoles launches. Feel free to add or critisied. Why do you think the launch of PS3 was more successful, or isn't selling as well compared to Xbox360 or Wii?

Everything's status quo, the wii continues on its normal pedantic stroll, the 360 fans sophomoric as usual caught in a generational glaze of "what's next" as MS decides which console to put out next, and the PS3 bashers left with nothing to do, but pray and hope for downfall while they have nothing else better to do. Notice how the SAME exact people are always trolling PS3 news to "see" what's going on and where the market leader is heading.

Hmmmm...makes me wonder if the world market is parallel with the consensus here at N4G -- you know waiting for that other "foot to drop" that I keep talking about. SNE's "game" foot. They've already dropped REALLY, REALLY GOOD HARDWARE in the PS3, now it's time to follow up with AAA games that people know this company and enterprise are adept at churning out.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
