Nothing innovative about QTE........move on everyone if u wanna look at innovative game i would recommend Alan Wake.

PirateThom5966d ago (Edited 5966d ago )

A. Wake in the Dark is innovative?

abc12335966d ago

you've proved you're an idiot countless times before and you're getting ever closer to that 1 bubble XD

I think I will enjoy alan wake actually........on my pc :P

heavy rain will definitely be innovative. I was initially not planning on getting it since i've been infected by the action packed TPS/FPS genre but reading this article has changed my mind a bit, but i think i'll wait a while after release to see how it really is.

Bungie5966d ago

damn you MetalGearRising

stop owning them

they're already last place leave them alone

"I was initially not planning on getting it since i've been infected by the action packed TPS/FPS genre but reading this article has changed my mind a bit, but i think i'll wait a while after release to see how it really is."

This makes me feel really good that something I wrote had a positive affect on someone else. Thank you for this comment!

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you pick up Heavy Rain, but then I'm a little biased as you can see.

From the way you say you've been "infected" I think you might agree with some of my other ideas in a related article I wrote called "2010: The Death of Real Gaming", you can find it on the same site as this article. Leave a comment if you like it :-)

abc12335966d ago

yeah, i think i'll check that article out. Props for a well written article :)

Bungie5966d ago

it's a QTEs interactive movie

whats not innovative about it

Day 1 buy

Somnipotent5966d ago

we'll see how it pans out. i'm buying out of curiosity and i'm all about supporting those who branch from the norm. heavy rain is a breath of fresh air compared to a market saturated with fps.

phonicx5966d ago

"heavy rain is a breath of fresh air compared to a market saturated with fps."

This is exactly the reason i wrote the article, I'm just annoyed you managed to sum it up better than I did!!

Bungie5966d ago

completely agree with Somnipotent

i like how it takes skill to play

you have to press the button when you see it

it could be a little hard but once i get used to it i'm sure i'll love it

ukilnme5966d ago

I'll rent it first then buy it if it blows me away.

phonicx5966d ago

Good Idea, nice to see someone whos willing to support the developer by buying after renting if they like the game.

Bathyj5966d ago

I still think people dont know what this game is about.

And I dont know if you're being a stealth troll or no Bungie, I'd like to take you at face value, but I'm not sure.

HR is more than QTE's, its not simply pushing a button when it pops up. You can choose NOT to push the button, you can push a different button.

Movies I've seen have 4 or 5 buttons swirling around. You choose which one to press and what not to. This isnt QTE. Its giving to choices and letting you decide on the fly. In a game like Mas Effect you read a page of writing and then choose which sentence to respond with. The difference is you usually go through every question anyway, and time is not a factor. In HR you might have knife, gun, lamp, shoe, but its all realtime. Take too long and gun might not be an option anymore. You might move away and miss that chance to take it. So you live with your choice, or lack of it. If you grab the ham sandwhich, it will play out differntly again.

Its like walking down a road and you come to a fork that goes 5 different directions. Which path you take sets you down a road. You can choose all of them, and you might not be able to go back and try again.

THIS IS NOT QTE. This is context sensitive, multiple choice in realtime. Something never offered in a game before on this scale.

I've been waiting for this game since they showed the first tech demos in '06. The graphics have come so far from then. I've had to double my efforts to find a job just so that I can buy this game. Day 1 for sure. I really hope this game sells well and makes the industry turn their heads. Somnipotent is absolutely correct about the market being saturated with not just FPS but general purpose shooters, be they TPS or RPGs that focus primarily on a shooting mechanic. Not that many of these games aren't great (bioshock, UC, fallout, ME to name a few), but it's true that most developers just haven't been able to think outside the box in the way that Quantic seems to. This game looks so good, I think I might even be able to use it to get my parents into gaming. I plan to play it with guests who can suggest what I should do each time I play so that we can all share in the decision making and to vary the experience when I play through on different occasions.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle16d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde22d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy23d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Relientk7724d ago

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga24d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199223d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga23d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman23d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box24d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion23d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7224d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7524d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit24d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14924d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7724d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
