What a joke.

The games that are good score well from most outlets. The games that are bad receive bad scores. It's common sense and it works that way with all consoles. There are alot of valid complaints people have with the wii and the same can be said about the 360/PS3.

Anyone remember the media coverage the ps3 got when it first came out? That's why i didn't buy one for the first 2 years because the internet (mostly credible game sites) led me to believe that the system was a complete failure and sony was doomed. To say media outlets are against the wii is completely hypocritical. Where was the outcry from nintendo fans when ign did the story on the 'Lair' "how to play/review" booklet that was sent to them. This is the same site that made videos teaching people how to play the mess that was 'ssx blur' when the title tanked in sales, because the controls were absolutely horrendous.

Just because most sites don't fawn over nintendo like most nintendo fansites doesn't mean they hate the wii. Stop crying and buy a second system, then maybe you'll realize why some people don't enjoy the wii as much as they "should."

I haven't been using my Wii other than Gamecube games and a few Wii titles. It's just Mario and Zelda and rail shooters. Metroid prime trilogy set comes again. Its seems nothing but nintendo franchises are worth buying with a few exceptions (Silent Hill: Shattered Memories).

Which is good because I can't buy all the games this gen.

They don't hate the Wii. The Wii just has very bad games. It has good ones too, but the number of useless games far outweigh the good ones.

Honestly, the good games are a bit overrated even. I wouldn't give Mario Galaxy a 97 average

so, maybe the wii gets the occasional game you would like to play, however, theres no need to go on the gamefaqs boards,and ***** and moan its not on the ps360, then bash the wii. i don't go to the little big planet boards and ***** and moan its not for the wii because the games for kids. some people own a wii, and still complain its not on their system of choice, which makes no sense, since they can buy and play it.

even though the wii has shovelware, there are still good games to be found. it doesn't help when stores like EB and gamestop have a ton of shovelware games for the wii up on their wall, but don't carry the core or hardcore games. i've been to a few EB games, and their selection at times is VERY disappointing. not to mention they'll (employees) whisper sweet nothings to get you to buy what ever.

i've heard Online retailers are better for browsing wii games, then going to a store, because the amount of shovelware at the stores is astounding

The gaming media (which is dominated by males 15-35) ignores the Wii because most of the games, which tend to be for all ages and lighthearted, are not appealing to their taste and their readers and that's understandable.

What really baffles me is that the gaming media is head over heels over Natal when everyone with an IQ over 10 knows it is not aimed for them. Obvious bias! I remember in 2006 & 2007 the general gaming media said (whether implicitly or explicitly) motion control were a fad or gimmick and that moving around was silly but all of a sudden the Sony wands and Natal are cool. Obvious hypocrisy!

Maybe they actually do a hate Nintendo.

Stop blaming everyone.Nintendo took this path and has to live with the consequences. I mean did they really think the could make a cheap under powered system, mostly cater to causal gamers and not have a downside? Then they want to act like they are just as good as the PS3 and 360. Come on people. The only reason the Wii gets simple versions of games like rail shooters and crappy ports is that the Wii can't handle it.As long as it is bright,simple and colourful the game works well but when it comes to complex worlds, realistic graphics, multiple enemies,advanced A.I. and smooth action the Wii falls flat on its face. People always get mad when you tell them something they don't want to hear

there are a few third party exceptions like Zack and Wiki and Rayman Raving Rabbids, but most publishers treat the Wii as the gimmick that it is, while Nintendo capitalizes on the nostalgia factor of it's long time franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

from a business perspective, what Nintendo has done with the Wii is INCREDIBLE.

from a gamer perspective like mine, Nintendo has disappointed me this generation with the Wii.

i've been playing Nintendo consoles since 1985, when i was 6 years old and first laid eyes on Super Mario Bros on my cousins NES.

this is only the second time i have never owned a Nintendo console for a generation (i didn't own an N64, but mainly due to money, not because i didn't want an N64).

a console has to be more than just two or three franchises in order for me to spend my money on it. i've been playing Mario, Zelda, and Metroid for over 25 years now, and i really want new games.

i don't find the motion controls of the Wii compelling, although i acknowledge that games like Wii Sports and the such really showcase what GOOD motion controls can do.

i'm not a gamer that thinks blood, guts, tits and ass make games hardcore, so that's not the reason why i'm not interested in the Wii.

i also have an HDTV, and for me, personally, i think the Wii looks like crap on my 40" Samsung, and i think Nintendo took the easy way out by not, at the least, adopting a 720p standard for the Wii, even if it meant launching the console at $299 instead of $250.

to be able to play games like Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and more in 720p would have warranted that extra $50, and i'd have a Wii next to my PS3 and 360 right now.

i look forward to each new console generation to see how the industry has evolved and grown. i never thought we'd see games like Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 (to name only 2 titles that are hands down the best looking in console gaming), and yet we do.

despite the Wii's bold step into motion control gaming, it is a step back in the technological (and therefore the creative evolution) of gaming this generation. i've yet to see truly creative uses for motion controls, and that goes for Sony's Dual Shock 3 motion controller, and the upcoming wand, and Natal from Microsoft.

the implementation of motion control for most Wii games is the same: use it like some sort of stick, or waggle it to shake something or move something.

it's certainly fun when done right, but does that really justify the low tech presentation in most Wii games?

the extra processing power of an HD console could certainly open the doorway to more creative level design. if the Wii had a processor as power as the PS3's i'd imagine that a game like Zelda could have more than just pretty graphics.

enemies could sport better AI, and even NPCs could be coded to have more complex interactions, adding to the immersion of the world. you could even have more complex physics based game play, where Link could manipulate the physics of the world (with a new game play mechanic/item that would utilize the wand's capabilities), and add a new layer of complexity to dungeons.

the extra processing power of the HD consoles does more than just help add shiny visuals to those games. people like to dismiss the HD consoles as being all flash and no substance, relying on visuals instead of game play, but the evidence of games like Bioshock, Uncharted 1 and 2, MGS4, Killzone 2, inFAMOUS, Mass Effect, etc, show otherwise. upcoming games like Heavy Rain and The Last Guardian also prove that there's more to HD tech than a shiny coat of paint. it's bringing new, more immersive gaming experiences to this generation.

i think most game critics don't really hate the Wii, they are disappointed that all of Nintendo's talk of a "game play revolution" have resulting in little more than casual parlor games for grandmas, grandpas, mothers, fathers, and little kids, while the audience that made Nintendo what they are today are pushed to the side lines.

as i said before, from a business perspective, i can't fault Nintendo one bit.

but i'm not an investor or business analyst. i'm a GAMER, and i want the Wii to have some great games beyond the more than familiar Mario, Metroid, and Zelda (although, don't get me wrong, i get excited whenever a new one in the series is released, i just need more than that to keep me interested in a console).

Where do you shop for your games? Wal-mart? Cause if you know where to shop you get the goods like TOS:Dawn of the new World, Opoona, FFCC:Crystal Bearers, Phantom Brave, Tenchu Shadow Assasins, Sakura wars: So long, my love, COD:MW Reflex, PES series, The Conduit, Battle Rage Mech Conflict,Little King Story, One Piece Unlimited Adventure, and thats just naming a few retail games. Wiiware has such gems as: Lost winds, Lit, SnowBoard Riot (Best if with balance board), FFIV after years, Pokemon Rumble, Gyrostarr, Bit Trip Beat, Zombie Panic in Wonderland, and more

Even if the Wii gets bashed and gets 3th in the race... I wouldn't be bothered, but what i dont get is why people ignore the games that are good?

GCN ended up last in the race as well, yet i owned one because i appreciated the games. Couldn't care less what the hardware outputs. If a game is good, then that is reason enough to own the platform its made for.

ps3 and xbox360, PC = great WII=Craaaaaaaaaaaap overrated gimmick console for the little girl!!! just kidding,it really is bad really bad, don't get me wrong i really hate it,but maybe there is something about this console that makes it great but i cant find it, but if i could it would be fantastic but it ain't! I am not a huge fan of natal nor the ps3 motion controller, but I side with them because they aim for a much more mature/hardcore audience.
Sure they want to invite our grandmas and sisters into the room to play with us, but from the way they present the technology, it's made more for other innovations. For example, Natal has the ability to recognize facial expressions not to mention (obviously) track head and body movement. Which could be used for leaning or peaking around corners in first/3rd person games.

My biggest problem with the Wii isn't the hardware per say (although better graphics would certainly be appreciated) but the lack of titles of an older audience.
Someone mentioned Little Big Planet, and that's a game that most people, and magazines, (like game informers cover story which interviewed shigeru miyamoto had the headline "the game nintendo never made"). The game simply caters to all audiences.

There is this feeling I get every time I speak of the Wii. It's a system I wanted to get for my parents, but rather, oddly enough, liked playing killzone 2 or halo 3 online (and they rarely play videogames, seriously.)

I'm with posts on the subject, because I got 3 disagrees last time, and I can't accurately express my confusion about a system I dislike, by a company that I've loved in the past.

If Smash Bros. wasn't gimped, that would have gone a long way to soften my opinion of the Wii, considering I was satisfied with my Gamecube and Melee, RE4, and Harvest Moon for several years. The only game for Wii I have been truly satisfied with is Mario Kart. Smash Bros. and Twilight Princess were lacking, Metroid Prime 3 had no replay value or multiplayer mode.

As for 3rd party games, The Conduit can't hold it's own against the many other FPS on the market, on-rails shooters are only worthy of a rent, I already own Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 which has a franchise that I know and love as opposed to Tatsunoku which I have never heard of.

Hardly a single game Nintendo makes has online capability, and the ones that do like Smash Bros. have too much lag.

I'm quite interested in Metroid: M, the new Zelda, and Mario Galaxy 2 for 2010, but why should I buy these games if I can just rent them? Will I ever have the desire to play them again? Probably not.
