The original Mass Effect was all about choice. You created a Commander Shepard who was the sex of your choice, looked the way you wanted, acted the way you wanted, had the skills you liked, and made the decisions you wanted to throughout the game. When you start Mass Effect 2 you'll be able to import all that information, if you kept your save from the first game, and continue on with your decisions still resonating through the plot. Characters you killed off last time round will be absent from the game; people you helped will aid you in return.
