iwata was most likely saying hi def as in improved graphics
i mean ever time you hear someone talk about hi def or HD now a days they mean it graphics wise and not the actual output
i dunno why though

Hisiru5983d ago

Zune HD has high definition graphics and Tegra, maybe that rumor is true and the next DS will probably use Tegra

TheIneffableBob5983d ago

The Zune HD can OUTPUT HD, but it cannot display HD on its screen. No handheld device yet has a display that has 1280x720 pixels or higher.

I believe high def would be anything over 640x480, but I could be wrong. I'd like portable games to have higher resolution textures and less jaggies. This article is terrible btw, nothing but filler.

I think better graphics on a Nintendo portable are long overdue... so I'm looking forward to this.

CaptainPunch5983d ago

I couldn't agree more, I wonder if they'll be better then the PSPs graphics? Then again there could always be a PSP2 announced.

solidt125983d ago (Edited 5983d ago )

I think better graphics on a Nintendo EVERYTHING (Wii, DS, etc.) are long overdue. The Wii is basically the Gamecube Advanced.

Hisiru5983d ago (Edited 5983d ago )

Of course it will have better graphics than the PSP, but the PSP2 is another story.

@solidt12
But we can't forget, Wii was an answer to the PS2 and not PS3/x360. The Ps2 destroyed the gamecube in sales, so Nintendo developed an improved gamecube with motion sensor. It's similar to Dreamcast x PS2, Sega didn't know that Sony would use DVD.

The DS is comparable to a N64 which was released 14 years ago.
Nintendo are still clasping onto cartridges.

We are in the HD ERA. DS has sold over 100million since 2004, I don't think Nintendo could care any less/more.
Let's see: pocket, colour, advance( loved them when I were younger ).
Nintendo needs a complete overhaul.

I was really interested in PSP at first but now it seems too late for me to get one of those.

A high rez screen would look great on such a small screened device.

Im looking forward to the nest gen of handhelds as I might get one someday. Im hoping the psp 2 or DS2 has dual analogues and a high rez screen.

It is weird how Nintendo handhelds have always been inferior to their competitors, for example the sega game gear was alot better than the gameboy, but we all know how that one turned out, again the same thing happened with PSP vs DS, DS rules the roost, but PSP is selling enough to ensure its place on the market (it is not has been discontinued like other handheld devices).

Solidus187-SCMilk5983d ago (Edited 5983d ago )

the Game gear was great with its back-lit color screen and all but thats all it had on GB. GB had better games.

But as far as HW goes the GG was kinda poor a a "portable" device.

I say this because it was HUGE and took 6 AA batteries and unless you completely turned the volume down you would run out of juice pretty fast(retardedly fast if I remember right). however it was great because you could play it in the dark(unlike the GB) and it was color.
It was alot of fun with a DC adapter plugged into the wall, but I think the gameboy was much more practical for gaming on the go as its batteries would actually last a long time with sound too.

edit--- I used to really want a nomad too as I never had a Genesis back in the day.

I enjoyed both Rush games, I did think the action was sometimes too fast to see what was coming up in terms of hazards though, which meant replaying the same stage a bunch of times, other than that they were enjoyable, good special stages, 3D sections and bosses for the most part.

DS is one of the best consoles of all time. Such a rich library of software
Zelda were all glorious on it.
