I'm ready to buy a blu-ray burner, Blu-ray cds, and 10mb internet connection and a terabyte if this is true :P

The PS3 can only run Windows in Virtual mode while using Linux. Considering that and the fact that the PS3 cell is not a 486 Processor, Windows XP must run pretty slow. I also have to wonder how can these pirates squeeze enough juice out of the PS3 to run two operating systems when the PS3 was designed to allocate only 256 megs of ram to run one simple Linux based operating system. XP must be running at a snail's pace, because it runs any Linux system on it like a turtle.

This is great news if true i would buy a ps3 and never buy a game all i have to do is download a ps3 game. I would like to say i would never mod my xbox360 and i buy my xbox360 games support the developers and Microsoft but not sony.

It doesn't matter how "expensive" it is, if it works out just £1 cheaper to pirate your games than to buy them, people WILL pirate them.
Plus, think realistically, the 360 isn't that "easy" to hack for a novice user, it requires opening the console, running special software, sometimes even soldering, the vast majority of people don't bother and simply get someone else to do it for them. So complexity doesn't matter.
Going along with that, 25Gb today is nothing, your average connection can easily download that over the course of a day or two, even if it took a week, most games leak at least that early anyway so it doesn't matter much. Furthermore, anyone that gets their PS3 modded by someone else can just as easily buy pre-burned games from that person as well - no need to worry about the "expense" of the burner, just the disks and whatever markup he has (and buying in bulk makes BD-Rs fairly reasonable, easily less than £10 a disk and if you put a markup on that, £15 for a brand new game is doable).
So no, the whole "its too expensive" argument doesn't fly, it's only expensive if you want to do it all yourself and even then, BD burners have dropped in price considerably lately and will continue to do so.

As for this hack, it's not much of a hack at all and I believe it hasn't actually been properly proven, either, its just a video with questionable cuts and such. The PS3 hasn't been hacked properly yet.

Yeah, they might've hacked it but it only takes 4 hours of your initial time, 30 steps to complete and a string of cost along the way. So, basically, it hasn't been hacked.

I don't know what matters most to people but the Ps3 isn't even capable of running emulators for the nes off the xmb. Think about that. If you can't even run an emulator 3 years into the consoles life, you probably won't be hacking your system to play burnt Ps3 games or anything of the sort. Get real.

BR burners are pretty affordable now.. I think around $200. Shoot my first cd burner was for the PS1 and that cost me almost $1000!!!! Yes I'm old now.. lol.

Z-Pack is 100% fake, I mean look at the clock it magically turns back time after the installation process, what I think happened is they did some recording and edited it make it look real, that is why it was dark and the ps3 was upside down, not to mention the stupid dialog window that looked like something off windows xp.

Actually i don't have a blu-ray burner, But would like to ask a question to someone that has.

Once installed in your PC, If you burn xvids etc onto it, filling 25gb say. Does your ps3 just read as data disc and does it work ok.

I got so many dvds with avi's on them, would rather just dump onto a few blu-rays.

Yeah right and when you update your firmware the hack will be worthless. The PS3 is useless to me if its offline like the hacked 360's. Ill buy any game as long as it is worth it.

I agree with that. Also its point less for ps3 games I would love to get my ps2 games playable on my classic 80 gig. Yet wouldn't you need a 60 gig thats backwards compatible to even play the ps2 games. Speaking of which that would be hard in its self to even find a 60 gig on the market let alone online for that matter because their rare. I haven't found one.

I really hope this fails. Sony's had enough trouble trying to catch up to the 360's success. This wouldn't really help it.

my ps2 was hacked, just only so i could play import! The ps3 has fixed this issue, which is a great thing. I'm more then willing to pay for these awesome games we have nowadays. They're worth every penny. And being able to play imports without any hasle.. it surely stimulates NOT to hack your system. It's not worth it. And Sony and the dev's can have all money from me. I would be ashamed and disgusted if i hacked my ps3. I hope Sony can hold off hackers for a long long time. They're doing great.

Just like my PSP, im running m33 on it, and I havent pirated a single PSP game, I play all my PS1 games on it.

After much hard work, we the Pirates have finally cracked the PS3 conundrum.

Check this out, we can know run a highly limited number of games on the old iteration of PS3 hardware.

Even better is the all of these games (including PES 2008 & Motorstorm 1) have to be run of our own flakeware which replaces your own latest firmware. Nice Huh.

We believe that our extremely laborious workaround for play games released during the first year of PS3 will attract at least 10 people in the 12 months alone. We believe by the time the PS3 enters it's 10th year we can have 100 users. Getting worried yet?

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
