Ambition and the desire to innovate is ultimately what fuels our industry, but without the hardware available to make some developer's more ambitious projects really come to life, we're often left with uncooked or technologically limited games that pale in comparison to the marvels hinted at by the design documents.
Here are five games that GamerZines think came way before their time, and ultimately, what we'd love to see a return of on current hardware.

The most expensive PS2 games are usually the most niche from genres like horror. 505 Games usually is attached as well.

"I found some photos that I don't think have ever seen the light of day"
Getaway could have been a blockbuster but ended up being a frame rate jank feat. Absolutely horrible
The Getaway had a good script, good location and an early yet janky cover system. All that potential was wasted unfortunately.
GB: "With this feature, we take a look at 15 of the best open world games that have a gangster theme."
I sort if disagree with The Getaway. Playing it all those years ago, it had a dodgy control system, more so vehicles, was slow and was graphically unfinished. The sequel was even worse and the third game on PS3 was canned. I think Sony should take both games and merge them into one (as with the soon to be released Max Payne 1 and 2). Weird how Sony messed up The Getaway never to be seen again.
Red Faction and The Getaway was fun and great to play
ahhh Getaway...
So many people hated it and how much I loved it.
Omikron: Nomad Soul should have been there. Way ahead of it's time and hardware.
I don't think Red Faction should be there. It had Guerilla which was pretty much as modern and advanced as the foruma could get (And it was awesome).
Modern Warfare 2 if u get what i mean.
I would like to see remade is Unholy Wars.
That game with the current hardware would be a blast.
Anyone else remember it??
