that's because that was more than they had during the invite only beta.

that's the reason why they had the beta demo client out early so that during this time people won't get stuck updating.

I was so pumped buy this game, but was let down hard. Main reasons: You cant pick up weapons, horrible respawning, horrible aiming if you click L1 it automatically goes to aim instead of showing you zoom in Ive seen better zoom in games on PS1... sad.

LOL what's funny about this beta is that the game itself runs smooth as hell with no lag but a match/room ends it's session I get and error screen and then I get kicked out lol.

The game runs silky smooth it's just that dam error screen! I hope ZI fix this as it is only a beta and that's what betas are for.

MAG or what should be called Massive Update(before you can play that's super slow) Game.... the animations are the worst I've seen in a fps this gen... the button layout doesn't even compare to bad company 2 which is perfect... it does run smooth for what it is which isn't much...it does have two things on the battlefield beta... 1. you can take the prone position 2. you can customize your character... but those two things are hardly worth it... I see why they couldn't give away MAG beta codes it's not fun

All I want to know is this, Is MAG really chaotic online like how it is when people are spawning in one tiny room in KZ2?

If it is then you can count me in! because I love crazy online battles especially in KZ2 it's so much freakin fun. I love the 'one room spawning chaos' because there's so much happening on screen with grenades and rockets flying all over the dam place, it's so hectic that I literally laugh my self out the room lol.

If it wasn't for dedicated servers I would've never had this much fun online.

One question, Why do people love smaller numbers of players online? because to me it gets boring with say about 10 players in less than 2 minutes and I would just end up quitting the game.

Imagine 256 players on a KZ2 sized map or slightly bigger, that would be insane and FUN AS HECK! (well for me it would)

Mag isn't that great, I'd rather have have more maps then player.. if Zipper release MAG with 24 vs 24 and 256 maps I think it thats more of a seller... also Every PS3 Game Crashes online, this is nothing new, They'll have it fixed in march

I love my PS3 as much as the next guy...I played the closed beta(3 matches) and deleted the damn thing I hope that this game is a success for SONY and Zipper, but this game just seems like a huge waste of time. The graphx are HORRIBLE the animations suck the shooting is the worst. I rather them just make a full-fledged SOCOM. Confrontation is WAY better and more fun then this crap.(IMO)

to be honest it just flat out don't look that fun, wish the graphics were better too!

This is one of the most tactical, intense games I have ever played. Great character customization as well as character skill advancement. Great gameplay, great animations, smooth gameplay...the graphics aren't the greatest but 128 vs 128 30fps locked and the animations are on point with huge detailed maps (sure it's not the highest res textures, but it looks great).

Defending is -way- more fun than attacking. Having all your guys spread out in bunkers/roofs/treeline/etc, Looking over your shoulder to the side and seeing the other squad spread in ruins exchanging fire,rocket smoke flying out of the windows and seeing them get to work is pretty inspiring.

The guns have a reasonable kick to them. It isn't COD's bombastic over the top noise but it's good,it's the feeling you get watching a war film and everything going nuclear then watching real war clips and hearing all the rattling and muffled explosions. +1 on this.

This is long range. alot of the time you will see five or six targets moving through cover and only being able to take one or two bursts before they're gone. It's challenging and yet not too hard.

It's big but not too big. It isn't COD's small scale fighting where you feel like a massive difference but it isn't Resistances "just another body". It's -perfectly- in the middle.

If you're a COD fan and you like feeling like king c0ck after dominating every match this proberbly isn't for you, you are a part of a team and you hold a single area of the battlefield at any one time. I just finished a match defending and found you get a little thrill everytime you see a few black shapes bursting out of cover as you and your teammates start knocking them off there feet.

It isn't over the top and massively in your face but the fun doesn't fade into obscurity either,go with your team mates,hold some ground and work together. I'm usually the guy running about blasting everybody but I found myself enjoying the slow tactical fighting. It's satisfying to win but it doesn't feel like you had to go through utter hell to get there like Killzone.

It's hard to explain what niche this fills but it does it perfectly,after five minutes of confusion and finally figuring out what I was doing I realised I was too engrossed in the game to care about the graphics. They aren't awful anyway.

9/10 for me.

it has some lag but it can be fixed. my only problem is that this a online only game. it has to be up and running and smoothly at all times. the game looks very good now. i love it. it still is a first day buy...

It was the same in the closed beta servers crashing due to demand.
At least the see this now and hopefully they put up more servers to accommodate more players as the game will be great as i haven't seen any lag as of yet.

just like that it crashed on me while i was in the game...it nothing that special anyway..all tha guns sound the same, graphics are not that great..the only good thing is that many players play together without lag, (yet)...

I've been watching videos of the beta while I download the achingly slow update (in-game of all things- why didn't it download from the XMB?) and it looks and sounds like an "ugly" Modern Warfare albeit with lots of people. Actually it kind of looks like Combat Arms, a free-to-play PC FPS I played for a little bit.
Wow this update is a joke. Oh well, I guess I'll flip the tellie over to the Wii and finish Crystal Bearers.

i dunno guys, i wanted MAG to be awesome, but I'm sick and need my games to look great and play great...

This is actually the FIRST time a sony first party game disappointed me... i know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but you can't deny the crispness and the pretty good looking MW2. the pretty damn near 1 to 1 controls and the 60 frames per second all while looking pretty awesome.

My problems with mag were the GRAPHICS, the controls felt clunky,and hit detection was waaayy off. The only thing i loved about that game was the menu graphics/system and the level up stuff.

And before you guys start yelling "its beta, its beta" when was the last time a game had HUGE leaps from beta to final? bfbc2 is in beta, and that game looks to be MILES ahead of mag in every way (hit detection could use a little polishing)

I would much rather have a 20v20 socom with insane graphics and animations than this junk, and I'm sorry if i sound harsh but this game is junk to me...(although i do REALLY like the menus and stuff like that)

Zipper, Slant 6, Infinity Ward, ect...NO DEVELOPER CAN GET THE PS3 ONLINE ATTRIBUTE TO WORK PROPERLY!

This dumbass game comes out the same day as Mass Effect 2, who is going to pay any attention to this title? That's like people picking Darksiders over Bayonetta today. No one cares about MAG and it's shotty controls and horrible graphics.

after playing MAG/BC2 betas, I gotta say MAG suits me better. The simple reason is team work. I know that COD/BC2 have better graphics, however, I like MAG better for the simple reason of the people playing them. In COD/BC2, you get people doing whatever they want, sitting back there sniping just to get kills, or going solo since its easy to go rambo without any serious consequence. In the other hand, the people I've played with on MAG, they like to work together (having a good medic in your squad is essential), you stick to your squad, because if you go on your own, you will def get killed easily. Also, I hate auto-aim and automatic health regeneration found in sooo many fps and Im sooo glad that MAG doesn't have it!!!!
So, yes MAG have its problems, I wished that it was Socom with 256 players, but I hope zipper takes everything they learn here and use it wisely to create the ultimate Socom....

I've been in all 4 phases of the Beta and MAG will be great once its all said and done. The servers crashing is exactly what MAG needs so it the release product is better. Domination, Acquisition and Sabotage are some of the most refreshing game modes to enter a FPS since Warzone in Killzone 2.
There is no "deathmatch".
You can't camp and win.
Rambo can't win.
If you are mature enough to handle objective based gameplay and not just be concerned with your KDR & being Rambo, then you will enjoy MAG. People say the Graphics suck, have you ever played a game capable of 256 players on a console? No. Well, something has to give. On the flip side,
There is no pop up.
The draw distance is astonishing. (I'm a sniper and I hit people well across the map).
There is no lag.
The sound effects are amazing especially headshots.
The most activity I've seen on screen at one time since Warhawk.
Don't downplay MAG, it is a quite astonishing feat to pull off what they are attempting and the sky is limit. I can't wait til some of the engine from MAG is used for the next Warhawk/Starhawk...

Most gamers these days are noobs that is why they knock MAG and state Crap like BTF2 and MW2 is better.

The one major difference between MW2, BTf2 and MAG is Auto Aim with Bullet Magnetism. Two games have it while one game does not.

There will always be more noobs gamers in the World that swear MW2 is the game to get just like there are only so many baseball players that can throw a baseball 97 miles and hour. except in Gaming noob gamers determine how much a game will sell.

I showed 5 of my clan memebers form K2 how to play MAg and they are all getting it. The all can consisently kill 3 to 4 people up close before dying. I myself have killedd 6 people up close once yesterday before I died. Why because there is no Auto aim in this game.

BFBC2 has hardcore mode, you should look into it before you settle for MAG

Wow alot of people b!tch to much, sorry but the only thing that makes BC2 better then MAG is the fact you can say Hello to the other team by driving a tank threw their building.

MAG is a blast, the fun part is when their is 256 people on one map, which makes it harder to stay alive and more likely no one can camp so easy as in most of the games like MW2 and BC2.

I haven't had any problems with the beta but I had some lack but it maybe do to the fact my internet isn't the best to, other then that it runs good and haven't been kick out of a game.

An it isn't a shock that the servers crash, it went from people have to preorder to get in the beta to open to everyone, the way I see it. More people playing, more likely it is going to crash and PS3 games seem the be the only ones that push their servers.

i really enjoyed the beta. i wuz confused at 1st as to wut i wuz supposed 2 do and the sensitivity wuz oddly and sluggishly low (which i fixt in the options) but i figured it all out. that being sed i came home eagerly booting up my PS3 slim and now i cant even get past the main menu w/out getting spammed by these stupid error messages and then being booted bak 2 the title screen f***in pissed me off, i turned that mess off, started up the PS3 web browser and found an article about it on N4G...

FAIL!!! PS3 has failed.

It's interesting to see so many say that the game runs smoothly until they get kicked out. I understand it's a beta. Too bad a lot of people base their impressions on what happens at the demo stage.

It has a few connection errors at times usually just after logging into your PMC "server" but after that it's usually good to go.
And whoever said MAG doesn't have pop in needs there eyes checking.

I bet they are panicing somewhat... I wonder what the odds are of actually playing in a fully maxed out match, after the game releases... pretty much makes the playing field look somewhat obsolete to me!

and its very fun, but with other big titles, it will be hard to invest in this. =/ still strong game though =)

Mag didnt have good graphics at all...But have one thing that none other FPS have and is COOP.

Halo is the same crap from the first game...Jump and shoot, you call that entertainment??

MW2 is the same online of Cod4 to be honest cod4 is better than mw2(just My opinion)

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
