MIG: MAG Servers Crash

The Massive Action Game servers have crashed on the first day of the MAG open Beta. Zipper have promised to fix this by launch date, but does that mean they don't care about the beta phase anymore?

Yeah, i was pretty pissed about that. Funny thing is though there wasn't any lag. I hope to have enough money to get this game one day. Back to Demons souls until the servers are up and running.

wiggles5979d ago

That's the funniest part is that it runs smooth as hell...but as soon as the match ends it's always some sort of strange error and kicks you off...to bad that they can't get the servers running properly yet, hopefully they will...it was starting to grow on me too.

Glyn_Dwr5979d ago

Game runs smooth as hell, but for some reason I keep getting booted back to the main menu and get a message along the lines of...'kicked from game universe'.

Hopefully Zipper get this sorted out as the public beta runs out on Jan 10th.

Anorexorcist5979d ago

I downloaded the demo this past Wednesday and I was angry when it said the demo/servers would not be active until January 4, but as of yet I haven't been able to get in on any of the action.

wiggles5979d ago

i got in really by luck....I got that but I just kept exiting and trying to re-connect...eventually it let me go in and create a character...I got through 1 match and at the end it basically kicked me from the world. But again the funny thing is that if it wasn't for the physical error page I got from the game...it runs great. So maybe if you keep trying to get in it will let you

cyberwaffles5979d ago

@1

how ironic, i just bought demon's souls. i have no clue how to end a level though. and do i lose all of my souls when i die?

Myst5979d ago

After you have vanquished a Boss it should say something along the lines of "Demon has been destroyed" or something. Once that is done a small sphere of light should descend down to the ground where a sword will rest inside of a rock ( I think? either way it's a sword in something ). Just go over to that and click 'X' if I remember should ask if you want to go back to the nexus and just yes.

The other way is to go all the way back to the beginning of the level (Unless you have defeated a boss, if you have then just back to the bosses room ) But if you haven't then run back to the beginning and search for the same sword inside of something it should ask you the same question.

Also yes you lose souls when you die, but if you can make it back to your death location without dying you can reclaim all of them. If you die then you can't they disappear.

randomwiz5979d ago

Same for me. Smooth just like closed beta.

The problem isn't that their servers are unstable. They made their servers amazing during the closed beta, its just a matter of adding a few more to meet demand

NegativeCreepWA5979d ago

If its the same problem that was going on at the beginning of the Qore phase, the servers should come back up 30-45 min after the crash. It happened once a day for the first week of the Qore phase.

badz1495979d ago

I'll try to get in when I got home

Another One5979d ago

I had a bit of fun while I played this afternoon, but I don't see myself buying this. Bad Company 2 will be way better and I already have MW2. I honestly didn't like the controls much. They were intuitive and easy to pick up, but there was something off. Maybe I need to play a little more. Something just feels off. I'll give it another shot tomorrow and see how it goes. (if any server problems are fixed.)

shadow27975979d ago

The summary is bull crap. The article says nothing about fixing by launch date or not caring about the beta. Pure FUD.

I tried to play all day today, and yes, there were problems with the server. But they were fixed today, at least when I played. I played from 5 pm to 6 pm (Central Time) and had no problems or errors whatsoever. So unless they crashed again, there's no reason anyone should be questioning Zipper's commitment to the beta. They fixed the problems within hours, that's dang good.

But if someone is going to spread that opinion, it should be done in an article. The summary is not so for the submitter to slip in their 2 cents. Why this was not reported is beyond me.

PS. I'm loving the Beta so far.

y0haN5979d ago

Am I the only person who thinks this game isn't special? It looks and runs like a PS2 game, and it's just not very fun. Poor man's CoD/Battlefield.

AssassinHD5979d ago

Yes, you are indeed the only one.

GameGambits5979d ago

I agree Yohan. Especially since Sabotage is the only game type you can play until level 10. It's just a very boring game type ESPECIALLY if you are on defend. I couldn't get a 256 game of domination going either once I hit 10, because there isn't enough people. Oh well.

I've hit a level 14 Raven, then deleted him to try out Valor and SVER. Didn't like Valor and stopped after 3, then did SVER which is now also level 14. It's a shame you have to delete your character if you want to try all 3 classes(or make other PSN IDs).

The game like I said in a different post is good, but by no means is the next big thing for FPS'. It's a low budget, low quality FPS, that needs MUCH more development time and more improvements in graphics to be honest. I mean heck sabotage only lets you have a max of 64 players in it, and the game DOES look about as good as a top tier PS2 game...then you have Killzone 2 that looks better than real life and also does 64 players.

Honestly they should have unlocked the 256 game type RIGHT away, if that was the focus of the game. Sacrifice graphics for 256 no lag shooting is fine, but at least let me do it right away. That's the big hook and they hide it from people. I don't know if it had been up to me I would have kept the game 128 people max and upped the graphics. Then 2 years later down the line up the player count and learn how to keep the graphics the same or a smidge better.

Myst5979d ago

So that's why I couldn't get on earlier?

*Sighs*

Oh well, I have a lot of games I still need to finish so I guess I'll play some of those.

MiloGarret5979d ago

Stick with the other games, this thing is absolute crap in every relevant way.

Get Demon's Souls, which is awesome, or if you're in a mood to shoot something fps-style ---------> play KZ2, but stay away from this horrible, horrrrrrrrrible excuse for a game.

vflhp5979d ago

I was pretty pissed as well about this. Hope they get it sorted soon though, I wanted to play the beta.

Sevir045979d ago

i hope this issue gets smoothed by release. they just need more servers. i played on it today. it ran smooth but after a match you were booted from the server.

vflhp5979d ago

Yeah, it always seems to happen after the first match. Quite annoying actually.

Myst5979d ago

Lucky you guys actually got to a match. Where as I was booted before even getting to see the menu, booted before I could even join a game, booted after joining a game, and then booted right as the game started.

In all honesty I wasn't mad I just merely laughed at how many times I was booted especially right as the game started. Still hoping this does get smoothed out though as I really do want to try it.

vflhp5979d ago

Luckily it happened during the beta. Imagine if they didn't have a public beta, and it happened on launch day. Nothing is as bad as opening up your game, putting it into your PS3 and it not working (especially when there's NO offline features).

4pocalyps35979d ago

*cough* modern warfare 2 *cough*

but mag is a really cool game. i haven't played it since i was in the closed beta. and even then the maps where so big i couldn't find an enemy. ended up playing a mini game of hide and seek lol

RememberThe3575979d ago

lol that joke went right over your head.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle21d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde28d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy28d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Relientk7729d ago

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga29d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199229d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga29d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman28d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box29d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion28d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7229d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7529d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit29d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14929d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7729d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
