But from what I've seen, White Knight Chronicles will be better. Still, I can't wait for both! There are things in White Knight Chronicles that makes me think I might forget about Final Fantasy XIII...

-Town Building
-4 player online co-op with DLC missions as well (text and chat support)
-Loot gathering
-Weapon creation
-customizable avatar (can be altered through the game)
-This game has TOWNS! Lol..jk

Not to sure on the dungeon and dragons theme, and the graphics are poor but I hope the gameplay mechanics are similar to Final Fantasy.

The online exploration will obviously bode well with most of the Western audience so I don't think the visuals will be that important. For what the game is, its looking to be very good indeed.

Many of the aspects you listed (above) are present in most On-line RPG's so to compare it with a game that does not have On-line is rather unfair don't you think?

You're right, it's kind of unfair, but the things mentioned can all be done offline (besides the online co-op, of course. The online aspect is just a nice bonus to obtain more powerful items and to have fun once you're done with the game.

Oh, and just in case you weren't aware, the avatar I mentioned plays as your ally through the single player component of the game along with being your online character. I think it's pretty cool that you can create a character and have him/her tag along in the story....even though he/she doesn't talk, lol.

Yep, you save money and buy buildings, items, and other things to create your own town. You can access it from the save menu. Also, through out the game you can gather NPC characters and have them live in your town to populate it and set up shops there for you to purchase things from. Your town also acts like a lobby for the online component. You can make your town look like a village or even something modern (as modern as the game's timeline gets).

Been excited for this ever since Sony first showed it off years ago. Day one buy for my RPG fanatic heart. Hopefully WKC2 doesnt take 1 year + some odd months to localize for the west. :/

WKC looks okay, I'll be picking it up because I'm an RPG gamer at heart but to declare it'll be better than FF13 is just foolish. It's been out for a year already and I have yet to hear/read anyone who's played it to describe it as "phenomenal" unlike FF13.

myself dont care for towns that much; in most FF's or JRPGs, talking/walking around towns/townspeople is the most daunting part of the RPG, it's boring and yet u don't wanna miss anything so u go door to door in different room. Most of the time nothing worthwhile.

Very excited about this game. And for everyone knocking the graphics, I think that they're native 1080p. That and, they're very clean and the environments seem quite expansive.

Just went and checked Amazon again. This is probably my most anticipated title of the year, next to The Last Guardian.

Oh, and there's some cool PSP JRPGs coming out this year as well.

I only wish for an old traditional rpg game like ff7.action rpg battle system really did bad for jrpgs except maybe for kingdom hearts but thats probably because it's nomura's work ;)

To be fair, the graphics and audio for FFXIII are much better than this game. Also, the PS3 version contains 1080p cut-scenes and lossless audio. The only effect the 360 had on FFXIII, was getting it released in the US earlier since Microsoft are anal about having games released worldwide within a certain time-frame...unlike Sony who don't really encourage or force speedy localization.

I thought that PS3 exclusives were all superior to multiplats? Do you guys honestly think the graphics on this are better than FF13? Have any of you actually seen any footage of this? It looks terrible!

And it offers a lot of features - online, community, paper-dolling (head to toe love this in RPGs), customized avatars - that FF XIII does not.

It's also well over a year old at this point. I hope you realize this. It's a first gen PS3 game. You should read the article on WKC2 (too lazy to find it atm), about the leaps that Level 5 have made, visually, for the sequel.

I know it's a year old, they're taking ages localising it. U say it's come leaps and bounds, I hope it looks a lot better than this one. It being a 'first gen PS3 game' isn't an excuse. Surely MGS4 is one of those? I remember seeing screenshots and thinking it looked pretty amazing but maybe I just haven't seen the right footage cos what I've seen looks poor. And 1080p? Really doesn't matter when the graphics aren't good to begin with. And I know it's got online and community, that's no excuse is it? And I don't know what paper dolling is so if you'd like to enlighten me...

Fool. I have the game. Have been playing since April and love it.
The graphics are good enough for what it is. It's Level 5 here. Not Square Enix or Capcom.

The game offers:
-1080p
- Town Building
- 30-40 Hour story
- Quests
- 4 Player Online
- Weapon, Material,Armour, Accessory and Item Crafting
- Voice Chat
- Solid Combat with the Ability to customize you're own move sets as well as create your own Combo attacks from the ground up

Apart from 1080p cutscenes and a longer story, what on that list does FFXIII offer? I'll tell you. Nothing. It will be a great game but WKC strength is the community aspect and the online component. It's like Monster Hunter meets Final Fantasy if you will. It's a refreshing game.

Seriously for a game that came out in 2008, and it is the first game Level 5 did for the PS3, then they did a really good job, the game play looks sweet and I am now getting it over FF XIII.
The graphics are not amazing, but JRPG's never used to be all about graphics before, why all of a sudden should they all look like FF XIII, I prefer game play, story over graphics (and having choices is a must, FF XIII is too limited for my taste).

Didn't like this game at all.

I'd recommend renting first to see if it is your thing the $60 bucks could go towards something much better around the time frame.

The combat is painstaking and is a step below Infinite Undiscovery.

Maybe there are improvements in this vers. but from what I've gathered from the game is rent or watch a friend before purchasing.

Does Infinite Undiscovery give you the ability to set up 3 custom movesets as well as make combo attacks from the ground up, which can be named and also added to you move palette? No.

a big title, i'll get this and ff13 but this definately looks to be the better of the two. It's weird that you don't actually play the role of the main character but as a secondary hero/heroine you create yourself.

I love level 5 they've never been all about graphics to them its always been about game play and story and careing about the characters ur playing as in the game.

Like some said there is an article that talks about the graphics of WKC 2 stateing about how great it looks. Those ant the words they used but u get what i'm talking about from what i read so far WKC 2 sounds great.

So many RPGs !!

I got a plat trophy not long ago on Demon's Soouls( + finished it like 8 or 9 times) and now I am having LOTS of fun with another uber RPG now on my PC, Dragon Age:Origins.

Both DAO and DS are amazing and I love the story of the world/ characters of Bioware games and I guess I will be getting Maxx Effect 2(o nmy PC) AND this also cool jrpg White Knight Chronicles on my PS3.

Indead 2010 is crowed with so many RPGs for all systems .....

i played both the Japanese versions of White Knight Chronicles and FFXIII, and i have to say that both are rather fantastic games.

i've been suffering from WKC withdrawals since i got rid of my import a few months back (it was starting to get really deep and complex in the game play department, so i opted to wait for the English version).

WKC has been the best JRPG i've played this generation, followed closely by FFXIII.

i will own them both when they release.

this isn't a competition between WKC and FFXIII. they both deserve to be in your PS3 library. i can't frigging wait, honestly.

Edit: oh yeah, and the graphics in WKC are anything but "poor." i was playing it on my 40" 720p Samsung, and the game looked AMAZING. character models fit with the art style (heavily influenced by anime), and the environments are very detailed. the water effects are really good.

screenshots don't do games justice this generation, as there's so much more going on that a screen capture can't, well, capture.

these screenshots in particular don't do the game justice in any way.

the game play is excellent as well, with a unique and fun battle system. i didn't touch the online stuff for obvious reasons, but the core, story based game play is awesome.

The graphics here are polished and fine worthy of a current-gen console. What I'm looking forward to is the gameplay and features implemented. Looks like there would be a lot of happy PS3 RPG fans just in-case FFXIII didn't live up to the hype.

Demons Souls, White Knight Chronicles, FF14, And FF versus 13, The ps3 is truly king of Rpgs this gen. Not that it always hasn't been considering I got a BC 80 gig. Dragon Quest 8, XenoGears, FFX, Grandia 3, man I love my ps3.
