When they announce things like this for any game it seems to me like: "How about we take things out from the game and charge it as DLC later? Yeah, genius..."

I know I'll get a lot of disagrees but announcing DLC even before the game's out seems really lame to me :/

Maybe in the DLC, you play as the kid at school...or the killer himself/herself...or an unknown 3rd party that's been stalking the main characters the whole time...

The possibilities are endless with this one.

Apperntly it's much more watching then gameplay.
And brushing teeth and shaving doesn't look like exciting gameplay to me.

Please!! They are adding more content for fans like yourselves. If you want that content then by all means get it, if not stay away. I am glad that they will expand on the story, but first lets wait to see what these DLC Episodes are about.

FY quantic. I thought this would have been one of the few complete games nowadays... Hope it's not important parts of the story.

I'll just see if the content is worth the price they are offering, if so, I'll bite, if not I'll continue to enjoy the product I purchased.

I don't like it either, but kept saying... It's not only because of MS or 360 or DVD. No one's holding anything back cos "it can't fit". Like it or not, this is the new modus operandi of the industry. And no one is above making money.

But a lot of gamers are cynics. You think all the devs are in the studio stroking their beards saying "What can we cut out of the full game and sell back to the foolish masses?" *cackle*

It's not like that. I'm no expert, but it seems if you're making smaller portions of extra content it probably makes sense to do so when the game is in production... while you still have all those resources pooled like the VAs. What's worse is if they don't have DLC... the fans don't say "Finally! A complete game!" They say, "No DLC? I'm selling this pos." So I'd cut the guys a break. And I mean this for most devs, yes even "evil" MS's people.

But anyway, I hope it's smart DLC. This has been advertised as a heavily story-driven game so please, no d*ck moves like leaving out crucial plot elements. But since that would piss people off to no end, I'm thinking it's more like short bursts of standalone, novella-like stories. I could deal with that and probably enjoy it if it expands upon the established characters.

Heavy Rain is a massive gamble for Sony, the amount of money that was invested into making that game, I'm sure is equivalent if not superior to most AAA titles. The game is aimed at a very niche audience and is not going to sell above 1 million on it's first week I'm pretty sure. Now that being said, they need to release the game at some point, and I'm sure the experience will feel complete once it's released. The DLC as extra episodes will be in my opinion a nice way for the developpers to get some extra return on the investement (mo-cap studios, proprietary game engine, etc.) and not have to sell the game 90$ in order to simply get even. On top of that gamers will get some extra gaming for very little money.

all our games will come out "incomplete"... we pay a base price of $60 for the "core" experience but the entire game will be upwards to $100 if you want to enjoy 100% of what was intended. sounds like what microsoft did with the xbox 360.

For the few who complain about a dev talking DLC PRIOR to launch...get used too it. Times have changed. DLC is a given and expected nowadays.

Look at the DLC for Fallout 3....I have Fallout 3 and didnt buy a single DLC for it. So how am I being nickel and dimed??

Just because they plan to release DLC at some point doesn't mean they've started to work on it, or that it is in some way detracting from the game. It will likely be stuff that doesn't fit directly into the story, and possibly even things that don't relate to the story at all. Regardless, there hasn't been any DLC that really should have been included except for that crap with RE5/Brutal Legend where it was on the disc and maybe some of the Dragon Age stuff. The problem is that with Xbox still using DVD, they really are running out of disc space in some instances. In others, they know that they've completed the game, but players will still want more, so they release the whole game and then spend some time after the release and some of the money that they've recouped from sales to work on extending the experience. Sometimes it seems like they must have been working on the DLC before the release, but that's because there is developer downtime between the time a title goes gold and it's actual release date, during which you can have all or most of the team transition to new projects or DLC type stuff. Plus, it's obviously easier to make DLC because the engine and all of its kinks have been worked out, so it takes less time and resources to produce. When looking at games with really successful DLC like Fallout 3 and GTA 4, I think we can all agree that the fact that the content in the DLC wasn't in the game didn't in any way detract from the game itself but it was still great stuff to have added to the game's experience once you've finished it.

and maybe even a brand new story not tied to The Origami Killer.

people don't understand that Heavy Rain is a different beast in terms of what a video game is.

just because the DLC is tied to the game Heavy Rain, doesn't mean it's actually linked to the main events/characters in Heavy Rain.

hell, they could use it as a vehicle for telling an entirely different story in a different genre altogether.

i doubt David Cage and Quantic Dreams will be using the DLC to stretch out the main narrative of Heavy Rain. more than likely it will be episodes connected to other characters in the world, or maybe a totally different case.

i'm sure The Origami Killer isn't the only crazy person out there. remember the Madison demo with the Taxidermist? that wasn't connected to The Origami Killer at all, according to David Cage himself. a unique DLC following Madison's investigation into that crime would be awesome.

wanting to play this game, but ultimately, I want a game that's complete,that I can complete without feeling I'm missing out.If the episodic content are just side stories or a new storyline altogether,then that's fine.Just don't try to rip me off with cliffhangers that need more content to complete the game fully, otherwise that, - as we like to say in the U.K, just wouldn't be cricket.

Can't wait. I can tell this game is going to be one of my favorite games ever.

Imagine finishing the game, and then boom a DLC comes in
and it's a new killer in town, the one u catch in the regular game wasn't the real killer.

Or I don't know u follow up on new cases of a different type of murders, or you wife cheats on you or whatever

creating new stories for the same characters
now would be the way of new sequels
