Premium Service Thoughts

A brief view of what I think should be offered in Sony's Premium Service next year. I'd like to hear from you guys as to what you think should be offered.

First and foremost my damn avatars.

Okay but on a serious note, some type of access to betas earlier than every one else? Maybe almost instant access to closed betas if not instant? Personally I don't think Party Chat should really be a premium thing. I remember commenting on a site that had an idea as to how we could use ad-hoc party as our site. If it was made into a program to run in the background and not interfere with anything else then it could work as our party chat. Only thing is they took out the hotel and we're stuck with the houses so only 4 would be able to chat instead of 8.

After reading and commenting a bit on that article, Ad-hoc seems to have a lot of promise in being picked as a way to do party chat and could work well if Sony looks into it and thus wouldn't have to be premium ( even though I personally don't think it will be anyway ).

Would be funny though if they gave those with the premium a bit of a discount on the PSN stuff maybe like a 5~10%. Wishful thinking, but still a nice concept to think about.

As long as Sony continues to improve PSN, and does nothing to make it worse than it is right now, then I won't be paying for anything. I don't have money to throw away like some people do...

snaz275983d ago

however i dont know how you can flat out say you wont pay, for something that you dont know the contents of. i mean noone knows what sony has to offer? what if they are offering on demand prostitutes with the subscription? ok highly unlikly, but still what if? atleast give them a chance to offer you something before you refuse it. it may well turn out to be a rip off, going by their movie pricing it probably will be. ill hold my opion till i see the deal though lol. prostitutes for the win!!! lmao

Sony sales Director5983d ago

I just want plenty of sales from the premium service to keep me busy.

I love counting money for sony.

Serjikal_Strike5983d ago

BETAs is my thing.....screw trying to win them all the time from diff. websites or waiting for an e-mail

sprinterboy5983d ago

5 extra game sharing would be a cool feature indeed, cross game chat maybe should be standard when it comes imo but psn rentals or full ps3 game rentals would be good and I would def consider a movie rental premium as I pay £72 a month for skyHD at the moment so that would be a cheaper alternative as I only want skyHD for movies really not fussed about sport in HD. I think for £40 a year I would pay for game/movie rentals, 5 game shares extra, all dynamic themes/avatars free and access to betas and behind the scenes info/footage during game development would be worth the pennies

blipboy745982d ago

I was speaking to a buddy of mine and skyHD may be coming to the ps3. I can't be for certain and I don't know in what capacity, but be on the look out for it.

Redlogic5983d ago

an itunes-esq program needs to be added in order to get lots of people interested. All the ps3 and especially psp owners would eat that up!

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle1d 11h ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Where is the remake?!!!

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga9d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer19929d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga9d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box9d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion9d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv729d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent759d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit9d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz1499d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning779d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
