It might be one of the best games ever if you like creating mods. Other then that its a generic shooter at best. Sure the portal gun is sorta cool, but really, what separates itself from all the other shooters out there besides using the same source engine for the past 10 years? Oh teh mods, dude, I pay for my games so I dont have to make crappy mods to have fun. LOL! I love it when pc gamers brag about Half Life, and yet cant give a definitive reason why its soo awesome. Wanna brag about a pc game? Play Total War 2. Half life is really one of the most boring and over hyped games in ever created.

Only gamers who are relatively new to playing games can ever dis HL and HL2.

I was brought up on old skool stuff like the speccy, C64, AMIGA and ST. Consoles were proper ass back then!!!

Once 1st person games like wolfy and of course Doom, the reason I blew an entire student loan, came out, that was the way forward. Only problem was the storyline sucked ass.
HL went a huge distance in creating a believable universe. And the character of Freeman was genius! Why do we always have HE-MAN sized main characters that nobody can relate to? He was the guy next door kind of man and thats why people bought into it. And thats why people are still hankering after the next HL2 episode, me included.

not bad for source. it's going to have loads of matt finished cars i suspect due to the source engines poor reflections which will make it look less impressive to other racing games, however seeming this is a mod it's got to be compared to other previous mods which were racing titles and by just comparing those titles i'd say this is up there if not the most impressive so far.

For an aging Engine, that's still not bad. I would love to see Source 3.0, a new one this time.

And finally to your lame challenge, I say lame because you say you're actually 28 years old! Comparing these newer releases to a game that must be 10 years old is foolish. We are always blown away by what has been achieved at the time. Devs in the middle to late 90's and much less power to play with than today. However, with Half-Life, they managed to harness that limited power and create a stunning game for the time with great narrative and character interaction. AI at that time was still in its infancy but you actually believed the aliens were trying to guess your actions. And the section where you scaled a cliff face and took on a helicopter and several marines still sticks out in my mind today. Furthermore the mods that were created were absolutley fantastic. If you truly are a 'hardcore' gamer then you must of wasted weeks and months playing the original counter strike, even over dial-up connections!!
