wow no forza 3 article yet doesnt surprise me at all. People forget the only 2 games on 360 that sell alot are gears and halo the rest does good or completely drops from the radar but people like to forget that. R&c a crack in time a brilliant game but it isnt 600k in first week kinda game but gets its sales overtime. I still laugh at the whole ohh didnt sell well in north america it mustve failed people forget that these games do best in europe just look at the last R&c and uncharted both sold about double of what the game did in america maybe we just know what the best games are and dont all buy overhyped pieces of trash like mw2.

Sony games has always been my reason for getting their console, i don't care if it doesn't do halo number or CoD numbers...honestly not much games can touch their sales so w/e. I am content with Sony's sales even though it can do better. But the way i look at it, we'll see how much their games sell by the end of the console's life since most of their games keep selling long after their release.

I still can`t figure out why the games aren`t selling. ps3 is closing the gap in hardware sales, but the software sales remain the same as they were years ago.

You just have to look at the sales numbers for Uncharted 2. A fantastic masterpiece of a game and the sales are extremely poor. That say's it all. It bothers me that Insomniacs efforts on such a great game go to waste on the ps3 when they could of easily made a lot more money on the 360.

This has been the case with EVERY SONY GAME RELEASED this entire generation, including MGS4. The media think if it doesn't sell in the first month like Halo or MW it is a failure (never mind that eventually most of these games have past a million lifetime (or in MGS4 case) five million anyway. Oh and once this does happen its reported like the good news is some sort of surprise and like Oh, maybe PS3 isn't so fail afterall. Then the cycle repeats. Next up will likely be Heavy Rain, followed by GOW3.

Notice how even with PS3slim sales the revelation that PS3 got outsold (not said America) in Nov by 360 that the boost is over and now things will go back to "normal" So much is wrong with this mentality, biggest of which is that it is only North America that the 360 is still beating PS3 oh but I forgot Anywhere that PS3 leads is "irrelevent" like Europe, Japan, etc.

it is my first R&C game . and it is my most fun game for this year . i haven't played U2 yet . but yeah from on i am R&C fan.

Not once during that time (and it still continues even until this day) did I ever worry about how Sony and company A or B was doing. I just knew there was too many awesome games to pay attention to.

I kinda laugh now, seeing as there are only a handful of big releases a year. Gaming's gone wayyyy downhill in terms of quality and satisfaction, and no multiplayer features or clockwork/purchase-to-unlock DLC will fix that. Hell, games that are released in February are almost always forgotten by September.

So much negativity these days just kinda makes me wish that 99% of the people writing articles about games ceased to exist, because there's almost always negativity being spewed onto their webpages. I can honestly say that with each new generation, games lose more than they gain. I know, this is a bit unrelated at this point, but these negative articles are just poisonous to anyone who wants to just find out new and cool things about games these days.

Sony's biggest 'marketing' problem - as far as these p-ssing contests go - is their strongest market is Europe, which alas features the slimist external reporting. Which then, of course, allows VGChartz and similar rackets to massively under-represent their numbers/sales there, and the only 'reliable' data to come back to being the US - which of course, is MS's strongest territory.

Rachet and Clank are great bring in Jak and Daxter now or even Sly Cooper

Sensationalist titles drive gamers to their sites to see what they're really saying. If you read not only this article, but their other article on N4G.com (re: "weak Uncharted 2 sales", you'll notice that in both they discuss the profitability and ability of first-party games to "work" on the PS3.

It makes no sense whatsoever for them to take this position asides from the fact that they want to drive controversy to their site. It's total bullshit.

For example, let's take a line from their Uncharted 2 article:

"Sadly, the game isn’t performing as well on the retail shelves as it should be. Like the majority of Sony first-party titles this generation, the sales just aren’t there to back the games up [. . .] After opening in October with 537,000 copies sold, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has seen a sharp decline in sales [. . .] Even though PS3 sales doubled over October, sales for one of the biggest and best PS3 games dropped significantly [. . .] Worldwide, sales for the title are higher and are reported by Sony to be around 1.4 million."

OK let's take a look...according to Evan Wells ( http://www.vg247.com/2009/0... Uncharted 2's budget is $20MM. Even with only the first month October sales, Uncharted 2 in sales figures alone has made let's call it ~$37.6MM (avg price of $70). So it's already re-couped it's budget.
OK even if we have a conservative estimate of $60 per disc, then you're looking at a sales figure of $32MM.

Now let's take a look at that 1.4MM discs sold worldwide figure...take $1.4MM * $65 avg price worldwide, and we've got $91MM.

So for arguably one of the newest top 5 franchises in Sony's first party studios, in it's first sequel and with Sony clearly having the smallest footprint in terms of consoles sold and with a mega blockbuster a month away (MW2), their game still has recouped their budget, sold over a million copies worldwide and has received critical praise that is almost unrivalled in this generation.

What the hell are these first-party woes? R&C? With all due respect, this is a previous generation franchise. People were introduced to R&C through the PS2. Sometimes franchises just don't pan out on new systems. Look at inFAMOUS sales ( http://www.gamesindustry.bi... and you will see again, over one million copies sold.

The unfortunate thing about video gaming having gone extremely main stream, is that the world is being introduced to all the garbage that is the general media being too dumb f*cking retarded to crunch numbers and examine the value of what they are putting in print or on the web. I mean I think we all know that the PS3 is in an underdog role vs. the 360 this generation...those are just the facts. Being an underdog doesn't mean you need to sit there and allow ppl to throw mud on your face when you don't deserve it though.

Sony first party games are not experiencing "woes" of any sort. Some are doing significantly better than expected, some are not. When you compare it against first party exclusives from the 360, of course the 360 is going to sell a lot more because it has a significantly higher install base on mainstream gamers than the PS3 does. To all the fanboys, just get over it - that's a fact.

But to say that Sony's first party studios are suffering is just dumbf*ck reporting. They're not suffering. Sony's extremely pleased with them. They've brought forward some of the most advanced gaming experienced in this generation. Don't be swayed by the Microsoft hype machine that is Greenberg. The guy's so hyper-aggressive he is an extreme of the stereotypical 360 gamer. He's so busy chest-thumping that he's going to end up like the executives at Sony that got way ahead of themselves.

Sony took a risk, they committed their resources (incl first party studios) to it, and they are correcting their mistakes.

To take away the accomplishments of their first party studios is just disrespectful and that website shouldn't even have a bloody video gaming section cause their reporter has no clue what he's talking about. He's a talking head with nothing behind it.

i love R&C its muuuuuuuuuuuuuch better than the first ps3 titel. i love the little planet thing. its just pure fun.

They obviously earn enough to make these amazing games, that's all that counts IMO. If quality increases with sales then Halo series is ridiculous because those are not 10 million-sales games.

I have a feeling the reason why this and uncharted 2 didnt sell almost as much as they did when they came out was because as soon as they did the next big title on most gamers list was Modern warfare 2, so i can see why uncharted 2 and ratchet and clank didnt get as much sales as they were suppose to in the month of november.

I don't get it. R&C sold very well. It just doesn't have the universal appeal like other games do. There's a fairly large group of gamers who don't like the cartoony games (like myself). This probably lowered the sales potential, but it doesn't mean it was a failure.

This is just another troll article. R&C wasn't set out to outsell MW2.

Seriously people every game is not going to do GT, GTA, Halo, Mario, and MW numbers. But who cares. Sony exclusives have been proven to have extremely long legs. R&C: ACIT will be no different. How many 360 exclusives made by Microsoft sell over a million copies besides Halo. PS3 owners have a wide variety of exclusives to choose from. One exclusive is not going to million upon million more than the others because PS3 owners have very diverse tastes.

Im starting to think that MS is on another campaign of FUD looking at the new articles on N4G, look at all those new anti-PS3 articles today and you'll get an idea what im talking about.

PS3 games tend to sell modest over a period of time, with decent numbers on day 1. Games on 350 are different due to its demographic, which look forward to a game's release almost immediately, and so the game's sales eventually fizzle out a little faster.

Ive had PS3 since launch and have never once considered playing those games. They appear like kiddy games to me. I am probably wrong, but everything I see about it looks like a fantasy acid trip. Are these games really fun? Maybe I'll rent the new one and give it a go.

I like how as the years have gone by, game success has been marginalized to simply how well it sells. No longer can a game simply be good, but its "not great" unless it sells millions of copies. Remember when nobody cared about sales and a game was good if it sold a couple hundred thousand copies? Just because it "only" sells a few million, companies are still making a damn good profit. Who cares? if UC 2 didnt sell so hot what makes anyone think this poor title even had a chance of craking the top 20. Another heartbroken dev. Devs like this deserve crappy sales though. They know the money isn't with sony, but like few others they are living in the past days of the ps2.

According to Insomniac RCACT is the fastest selling rachet.They said it on their podcast and also said they were happy with the numbers,stating that R+C games have a long tail.
So much of this stuff is hype.MS would have you believe Halo is the biggest games ever and it's quite away down the list.Well below Gran Turismo for example.

2. Up Your Arsenal
3. Rift Apart
4. A Crack in Time
5. Ratchet and Clank (2016)
6. Future Tools of Destruction
7. Ratchet and Clank
8. Into the Nexus
9. Quest for Booty

Only ones I don't like is " Full Frontal Assault, Deadlock, All4one.
at the moment feeling no vibes for Rift Apart yet maybe down the road probably.

Currently replaying the original trilogy on Vita. I always had a soft spot for Going Commando. Something that really hits me this time around is how amazing the OST is in the original.

A Crack in Time and the 2016 Remake are two others that definitely stand out. Tools of Destruction and Into the Nexus are two that I enjoyed, but it feels like they're often brushed aside. Excited to replay Up Your Arsenal as it's understandably the favourite for many. Most titles are absolutely stellar, such an incredible series!!
