I think they were pretty damn fair. Honestly though they should have given the 360 a lower score in the games department. They list Gears, Halo and Left 4 Dead. Which is basically the same story for 3 years straight. MS is growing stale and needs some new blood if it hopes to compete with Sony over the long haul. Looks like 2009 really was the year of the PS3 after all.

How can anyone with eyes look at both platform's exclusives and possibly call a tie, concerning graphics? Was that even real or did I dream that up? Brian Tom had to break the tie? C'mon! Look at any Halo game, then look at KZ2. Look at UC2 then pick up the stick and play for 6 hours.

The PS3 was the clear winner from the start, though the 360 didn't go down without a fight however!

that isn't even true for all multiplats. Some look better on PS3. I realize that more look better on 360 but the differences really are quite miniscule. Whereas the exclusive graphics on the PS3 heavy hitters greatly outdoes what the 360 has. I mean greatly. So on one hand you have a slight, barely noticeable edge with mulitplats, and thats maybe 75 percent of the time..... VS the PS3 exclusives having visuals that almost look an entire gen ahead of 360. Sure the 360 gets a point, but that round goes to ps3 unanimously. I'm sorry but the multiplat argument is even disappearing faster than Tiger's endorsements with the devs getting on the ball.

There's absolutely no way the 360 can win anymore (not that it ever could). We all know (except for the very delusional) that the PS3 is in every way better than the 360. More games, more features, bluray, free online, higher rated exclusives, better controller etc. The PS3 IS the gamers' console.

Now it only does everything. That has been missing since launch. For good reason too. The first year was pretty brutal. There weren't many games and the ports were atrocious. Madden on PS3 at launch was a joke. My friend asked me why it went backwards in quality. Now the tide is in full swing and I really don't think SONY will look back. I really do think the exclusives and online content is going to skyrocket. Woohoo!

I think the most important aspect of online gaming should be how seamless multiplayer really is, in that sense PS3 should have gotten a higher score: but that's just my understanding even though I don't play multiplayer modes, but I have seen them run smoothly on PS3. Also in terms of content they didn't mention PS1 classics making their way onto PSN, plus other titles such as Siren, Pixel Junkie etc.

However, when all said and done, I'd agree with them that PS3 is a better value: blu-ray player alone justifies the win.

I was being kind indeed. Honestly, I think the entire issue is a joke. Anyone who buys a next gen does so to play that gen. From the start I didn't understand the emphasis on back compat. The ENTIRE 360 game library definitely deserves a higher score than the ps3s, but if were talking about 2009, ps3 wins. LIVE is better, clearly, I agree with that, PS3 has better graphics-I agree, Slim looks nicer-I agree. PS3 is a better value-I agree. I think its safe to say ps3 took 09.

I go for the Elite simply cause cause your gonna put a heck of a lot more gaming hours on it. All PS3 has is Blu Ray and a very few number of high rated exclusives that dies very fast like Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2. Everything else I give to the 360 but thats my honest opinion.

I want a refund on that 5 minutes I spent watching that ridiculous excuse of a "non biased" review. PS3 won, true... but the margin should have been much bigger. Seriously, with all the PS3 games I've been playing i haven't even taken a second look at my PS2 games. Anyone who owns a PS3 can vouch for that.

They should have had a 7th catagory: RELIABILITY. Toe-to-Toe, out of the box, the PS3 brings more value, reliability, and a solid line-up of games with the promise of a brighter future. Can't say too much about the 360 in that regard... well, Microsoft would like you to think that Natal is the second coming of the 360. Doods, refresh your console first before tacking on gimmicks.

Wow they mention Facebook for the 360 and yet they choose not say that about Home for social networking.

They say the Fallout 3 DLC is exclusive thats kind of funny cause I have the GOTY edition with all the DLC and have got a Platium and 95% of the trophies for it. Cnet a MS partner actually admitting the ps3 is better is them just wanting hits.

They forget to mention that PS3 slim still plays Psone games and that you can play them on your PSP. No backwards compatibility is a lie

It is Bs that they mention facebook, Twitter(both being Social networking apps) yet they do not mention PSHome because they don't see the point of it. Maybe if they went back and checked it out being almost a year after open launch they will see how it is doing and is 1000000x better. This is Biased in the Games round too. They should have compared Games from this year alone, and you would have seen a 5.0 from the Ps3 and maybe at most a 2.5 from the 360.

gotta say....in terms of value, I feel like the PS3 finally caught up to the 360. If I'm looking at the two and see I can get the bluray player for the same price the 360.....I jump at that (which I did).

Back when the price was 400-600....it just wasn't worth it for me. Good things come to those who wait. Now I have both systems and can revel in the gaming glory that is the PS3 Slim and XBOX 360 Pro

They are definitely behind the curve on a few things and downright misinformed on a few others.

The online games XBLA vs PSN is highly subjective. Personally I find XBLA has the quantity and PSN has the quality although each new release tips the scale either way for me. Shadow Complex, Castle Crashers, and Magic are definitely big games for me but the PSN has PixelJunk Monster, Super Stardust HD, Cuboid, Fat Princess, Warhawk and many more that are fantastic as well.

They should also get rid of the graphics comparison. Just rate the games once. The sound isn't mentioned but the PS3 has far better sound and music capabilities and the 360 should get bigger props for multi-platform games.

The PS3 slim is ugly and cheap looking.

I like my fat one way better. It might be big, but its also sleek and stylish.

I do think the 360 had a stronger year on XBLA this year, but i don't think its fair to say that the Xbox 360 still has a better games library at the moment.

i play on live at my friends house, don't understand how its better, don't get me wrong, i love the fact that i get to see great advertisements, as i try to get into a game. live 16 player norm,psn 32 player norm. max 256,never played a game with dedicated servers on live,1st game i played on psn,Resistance 1, dedi. serv. never laged once. psn gives me the features i want for free. but the more i think about it ,$50 for,P2P online, last fm, x game chat, facebook, were do i sign up.

ya, xbox wins hands down for me, better exclusives, better online. The only thing PS3 has that I want is a blu-ray player, thats it.

I will buy a PS3 slim just for the heck of it though, cause thats how I roll sucker. I would mainly use the slim for sexiness, and the blu-ray player.

I AM A PS3 GAMER, BUT THIS COMMENT HAS NOTHIGN TO DUE WITH WHICH SYSTEM IS BETTER. All I care to talk about is Online, features, and exclusive games.

ONLINE-I have no intentions on EVER paying for online services and this it's moranic to pay it, when you are already paying multi-hundreds on a console. Does not matter to me who is charging...I will NEVER pay for it. If Sony charges, I will get a PC...and PC charges, then I will play system link games.

FEATURES-I love movies!! Blu Ray is my thing and it has no equal. (audio and video) Facebook, Netflicks, Twitter, and Laugh FM are gimmicks, which are really not deal breakers for these systems. Also, I wanted a systems with TRUE HD (Dolby digital 5.1/7.1 sound & 1080p 120/240/600hz processing capabilities for movies), so I got a PS3.

Games-I loved Halo: Combat Evolved, had a fun tiem with the multiplayer of H2, and I loved the 1st Gears of War game. However, 360 Vereus Xbox shows NO real changes in graphics. Futhermore...The XBL Arcade is cool, but again, most people do not play arcade games, from either system. (I loved Pacman C.E., Galaga, Wipeout HD, And Super Stardust) I look at Exclusives most, because I know I can get Call of Duty, Bttlefield, Batman: AA, Street Fighter,(MW 2 overhyped!) and sports games on either. I prefer Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Resistance 3, God of War Collection/part 3, GT5, Heavy Rain, LBP, MGS4, inFamous, MAG, and Ratchet & Clank....and all of these are only on 1 system. (For me, these games are move of a value than Halo, Gears, Left4Dead, and mass Effect)

Only one "prize-fight" matters to me: Got a free 360, found it crap. Played it anyway because had little else. PS3 came along - I buy a launch 60 GB...

Noe once did the fact of hardware reliability or the console come out, and we all know it is a black eye for the 360. It is also a VERY critical part of the bying decision process. Someone shopping around for one of these has the right to know upfont about the horrible reliability of the 360.

some people spend $60 on a game and beat it in a day or so, trade it in then buy something else and repeat this over and over. how can anyone complain about paying $50 to play any live game,watch movies, listen to music, and download demos, dlc, music videos,and arcade games 24/7. $50 is well worth it to me. To me exclusives are for one system. And I count PC as a system. So both L4D's don't count as exclusive, neither does Gears. Only like Halo 3 for 360. PS3 exclusives are just that, for nothing else. I hate how everyone misinterprets what "exclusive" actually means.

Ok here is my reason I care bout the PS3, one is better value, even though I care bout more games, I care bout quality then I care bout games in a game console. He's right PS3 have everything you need built in wi-fi and blu-ray player. The other thing PS3 lack for online service is cross chat. Xbox 360 may have more content and games but your paying more for Wi-fi and XBOX Live no disrespect to Xbox owners this is my opinion and everyone have a right to say what they want. And more games will come to the PS3 in 2010. Besides Xbox 360 is more money even though their online service I say is better hate to admit it.

All the stupid complaining about what system is better I own both, yea I said both, and I play my xbox way more than I play playstation. If you were to put both systems side by side and compare them the Playstation takes the cake. You can not even try to say the psn is better than live. I would rather pay 50$ a year and have a great online experience than have it for free and have a mediocre one. And not to say that the psn is mediocre but it is not with par with the 360s online experience, yea it may be free but it still lacks in features that the 360 has had standard since the get go. And as far as the graphics go yea the playstation is way better with first party titles, but as far as everything else for some reason they always look better on xbox 360 and they shouldn't. Killzone, LBP, Uncharted, MGS4, Ratchet.....(I know I am forgetting some.) are all great games but the 360s xbox live has always won me over on all the multi console titles. Both consoles are great and both will always have a place on my entertainment center, but for the Wii I wish I could write that purchase out of my memory. just my 2 cents

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
