REALLY i've had it with these f*cking articles on what something needs to do be saved or to sell more.. common how many PS3 sh*tty articles about this have been posted??

I'm not saying all this cause I'm a PS3 fan, is just that we already know and is pretty clear what the PS3 needs to do already..

Here is what sony needs to do.

Get on developers/buy developers to get content out in stores.
Lower production costs/keep quality good/pass savings to customers
Not listen to everyone...including me. (But I am wise).
Get Rumble back...soon.
Shut the hell up and deliver.

Who cares, if Sony doesn't care about saving themselves, then why should you (The blogger).

They are in this position due to management errors they have made.

Everyone working there should be competent enough to decide the next strategy. In my honest and humble opinion, they have a good chance to redeem themselves at E3. It's their last chance at getting people excited for their console at this stage in the console war.

The article does seem a little over the top. The PS3 only needs 2 things to get going, both of which everyone already knows, namely a lower price and more games to actually be on store shelves (as opposed to in development or "coming soon", whatever that means).

This article should have been posted on anti sony site as its really bilittling ps3. So much for being PSPSPS site. Poor chaps are frustrated by the treatment from sony and who can blame them.

And I stand by what I said originally. BTW, I own a PS2 and 360, plus the Wii. I would love to have Sony compete this round, but they need games and a lower price.

Sometimes I don't understand why Sony fanboys get upset about article like this. If the article is bias and stupid nothing will change.
If there is something that Sony can work on to improve the system or server, isn't this the only way they will find out? When people make noise about it?

Is this the message that you want to get about the PS3? "Sony, you made a perfect system and we are perfectly happy with it. Focus on your next project since there is no improvements to be made and while you are at it... don't worry about a price drop, we are completely fine with it."

1.we all know the price should come down.

2.we know exclusives are coming.they just take longer to make.and that includes all three systems.

EDIT: @snoop, well yes they would loose more money per every console sold. Hmmm.. I personally would not buy PS3 with its current price unless they really really can show a game that is not even nearly doable with 360. When it happens (if ever) it might just be too late.
OR much more good games than what 360 has atm.

PS3 does need little big planet and more "quirky" (read: innovative, compelling, all inviting, rated E for everyone (but not kiddy)) titles. Whoever wrote that is a complete moron.

Also, I don't think Sony should forget about the PSP and go mobile. What a retard. PSP still has plenty of life left, it can last more than the DS. Sony should keep making the PSP more functional with wireless networks and enable video and music on demand for it, and to connect with your PS3 wherever you are in the world. Also, make the PSP have its own "home" and downloadable content. That's how you save the PSP. Going mobile would be a retarded move, at least right now. In 3-5 years, maybe not.

The only things I agree that sony has to do is drop to $400 dollars WORLDWIDE (or at least not cost a lot more than that in europe), hurry in dropping costs of PS3 making, and hurry with their own exclusives. Don't pay for 3rd party exclusives (except FF and MGS)-instead, keep making first party exclusives. Use its cellius venture with namco. Invest in innovative projects. Create new studios with new talent (like with media molecule). And last but not least, make it a true media hub with services like home, singstar, and video on demand.

So, to sum it up, sony just needs to HURRY. Hurry with:

1. Price-dropping (cost-dropping)
2. Games
3. Services.

That's it. Since games and services are already on the pipeline and just need to be hurried (not rushed), the only fundamental thing to be done, which isn't a sure thing, but should be made is PRICE DROP. Not immediately, but a little bit after (or beforE) Halo 3 come out. Not price dropping would be a stupid mistake. It could be a horrible gamble, but the payoff would be winning a console war and a format war, not simply a console war. After all, a lot of people are just wating for Sony to drop their price to get a PS3; they don't care about Wii or 360.

I only read PSM, and they made the PS3's lackluster sales seem way better than they actually were. The only way that Sony's actually going to DO something about the mess they've created is if people speak up about it and vote with their dollars (if they haven't gotten the message already, then they're pretty dense).

If you just buy the console even though you're pissed off at Sony for having lost all those exclusives, made all those bad PR mistakes and run a terrible advertising campaign, then you're just a fanboy who'll buy Sony stuff no matter what... and Sony won't change (so I hope you enjoy having no games to play and HOME on the horizon as the next big thing).

I'm no Sony hater. But I'm not going back to PS3 while Microsoft is doing a way better job at keeping me satisfied as a gamer. No company's perfect (360 rings of death anyone?), but Sony seems to think that they can sell their overpriced console based solely on the fact that the PS2 was such a success. Well, now they're lying in the bed they've made and whether you're a PS3, Wii or 360 fan, the sales numbers don't lie.

MGS4 and FF are not enough to change an already set trend sure they will sell consoles but that will not!; all of a sudden flip the state of the indutry around in its favor to dominate as the lead platform PS3 will sell in third place and once the games come it won't be patheticly selling as it has only months after its launch.

People are jumping ship when it comes to support faster than Pirates on the Black pearl running from Davy Jones and his pet; not even game shop employee's deffend it with sale's pitch motives anymore theres no point, this KID that posted #4.2 is no 360 owner judging from his past posts.

* Fix drives indeed: MS has to weed out the bad drives they're working on that.

* MS's warrenties are in place yes it sucks the 360's more sensitve to its enviroments(keep it cool so the Mother board does not warp breaking the link to its chips, pray you dont get a bad drive from a certain factory that has unreadable disc errors)

* Don't release a console every two years you say!, the PS3 will be on it's third SKU in a couple of months with a Home intertainment system to follow it, thats four in a few years.

* force 360 users to do what with Vista? whatever they're doing i'm sure its not as extream as the Blu-ray push.

* As long as i'm not paying for demo's i'm fine.

Noone need to be saved. Even first xbox was able to sell 24 mln. And also got port of MGS2, GTA3.
after 1 year, maybe even after a month, peopel will see the difference between ps3 and x360. And only then will think, who need to be saved. =))

Is that Sony placed Blu ray first and gamers second. You heard the arrogance " We can sell 5 million PS3s with no games." And for the most part they were right. People don't seem to realize that the real battle is between Sony and Toshiba. Microsoft is more of a hindrance. Sonys biggest money maker is their games division, they want to change that with pushing Bluray technology in the PS3. Bluray isn't needed for games, they just want to sell their Blu ray movies through the PS brand name. Its a lot easier to introduce a new product(Bluray movies) through an already established one(playstation). If they wouldn't have tried to push Bluray on the public the PS3 most likely would have been a success. This is an interesting article that explains these points very clearly................

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
