
Although Diablo 3 won't revolutionize the hack'n'slay-genre, it will still add some interesting tweaks to the known Diablo-formula according to Lead designer Jay Wilson, who has revealed some interesting gameplay details in an interview with diablofans.com.
Diablo 3 will likely abandon the concept of a classical skill tree, which Diablo 2 and World of Warcraft had established. Instead of the hierarchical tree structure of the predecessor Blizzard has planned out a "skill based system" that would rather work like a "skill pool/path".
However, this new system is only in the experimentation phase and Blizzard keeps the option to change back to the classical skill tree system in mind if the new ideas don't work out well.
