what a joke..lol..the 360 have more games its obvious..ps3 barely came out like 5 months ago..and the ps3 bein hard to program for is makin it hard for game devlopers right now to make good lookin games for it...i know for sure it will all change in a year because they will get used to it and gain more experience...i wouldnt be surprise if they put games on the ps3 as their lead platform..ps3 have loads of game and when it drop all the xbots will be quiet..

A couple of mitigating factors:

Some of those high-rated 360 games are downloads from Live, not on-the-shelf titles. Playstation Network hasn't yet matched the quality of Live, but it's still in its infancy.

360 still has the advantage of a one-year head start. Give the PS3 another year and I suspect it'll have a better lineup of high-rated titles. Of course, by then the 360 will have even more highly rated titles, but I think there will be a better balance.

The best way to compare the ratings of each system's games is to compare games available for both (Oblivion, for example). 360 still has an edge there, but not as much.

Now, truthfully, the PS3 is currently suffering from a dearth of quality games. There just aren't very many good titles for the system, and that--along with the price point--is what's holding the system back. With a couple of exceptions (Lair, for example....drooooool) there's not much on the horizon for the PS3 until the fall season arrives.

Thats a realist point of view i can respect. You won't find too many post from me saying PS3 will lack in great titles in the future. I'm thinking popular opinion has swayed greatly out of of PlayStations favor; not allowing Sony to rule with a Iron fist. It will be about stradigy and innovation and what company knows how to make their products appeal beyond gaming( Home entertainment services/features and economics Aptitude will also dictate the dominate stadigy.

Looks like Microsofts plan on coming out a year before the ps3 is working perfectly. Not only does the 360 already have a huge list of highly rated games, the ps3 hasn't shown any advantage in graphics or gameplay in coming out a year later. In fact, the 360 continueously gets the better versions of most multiplatform games (Rainbow 6: Vegas is the recent winner for the 360) Yes the ps3 will get better games eventually...but they wont catch up to the 360s already huge list of great and classic games, and it keeps on GROWING!

I realize that the PS3 hasn't been out more than a year, but as I said in my previous comment, "Well, they're always going to be a year apart. When do you suggest we compare them?" Now, I know most would say next year. By that time, the Xbox 360 will have many more great games, as will the PS3...but how many PS3 games can you name that will be out in the next year that will topple these numbers?

I will do another comparison later, but I thought it was interesting to reply to the thoughts that "PS3 games are not bad games." No, they're not bad; you could just play better version on the XBox 360.

At least I am playing games with my 360, and that is what matters to me.

It’s known that there are some Killer PS3 games coming out and on the same note the Xbox360 also has a list of Killer games coming out. While we can sit and debate all day long over which games are better and for what system, it doesn’t matter because in the end certain games will appeal to certain gamers and they will buy the game for that system. This still doesn’t change the fact that Microsoft will be releasing titles to compete with almost every title Sony releases (if the title is good enough to compete or not, is a different story). So I don’t see the gap getting any smaller. I’m sure the fact that the PS3’s sales remain lower than the Xbox360’s doesn’t help matters (3rd party publishers pushing project development dates back for the PS3). Making excuses or reasons for not comparing the system is silly. While the PS3 has great future potential it does very little in the present when many of us want to play games now, and let’s not forget if potential is determined by games the Xbox360 also has potential it has not tapped into yet. Now i have gone round reading many artices about which one is better PS3 or the 360 ,i am just clearing things up, which many people seem to get wrong.

I own a ps2 and a PC and to be honest i was sort of a playstation fanboy. But after reading many sites about the PS3's showing at E3 and researching on the differences between the two, i was disappointed. ME being a PC enthusiast iv tried to compare the 2 consoles.

1)Now say you were building a PC and it was the best PC around. You had the best parts CPU ,Motherboard,ect...Except one thing ram, you have a measily 256mb of ram, now will that cope with your super computer? No.Its the same problem as te PS3 compared to the xbox 360 it only has 48.2gb/s while the xbox 360 has 278.4b/s which means it can process more data quicker than the PS3 therefore better graphics.

2)Not to mention the custom ATI graphics with 24 pixel pipelines in the 360 is far better than the RSX has 12 pixel pipelines in the PS3 which only just beats the 7800gtx(ive heard),and yes even though the RSX has 50mhs clockspeed more than the 360 it wont make a difference.Plus a graphics card better than the RSX, nvidia said will be available shortly after the PS3 launches so you could have better graphics than a PS3 but for your PC! So much for 'new technology'.

3)Now to move on the CPU, the Cell has only one PPE to the IBM's Xenon's three, which means that developers will have to cram all their game control, AI, and physics code into at most two threads that are sharing a very narrow execution core with no instruction window. Not forgeting that the cell processor was only produced for multimedia, not gaming. While the xenon CPU was made for specificaly gaming.

4)As i said me reding all these articles people always seem to talk about how many teraflops the ps3 produces and how much the 360 produces which if read at http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... doesn't actually make much of a difference in the real world.

5)Price, need i say more the PS3 will incorprate a blue ray player but to be honest, that wont really make a differnence except that it will have more storage, which realy sony only put in blue ray so it would gain a better chance of winning the next gen disks war (hd- dvd and blue ray disks) and just bumps up the price by another $200.

6)Everyones been talking about the controllers and how that the Ps3 is designed for 'longer gaming' but seeing that they are connected via bluetooth any mobile phone made in the past 1 1/2 years will interfear with at least 1 of the controllers, at least microsoft have thought of these problems and chose the wi-fi option.

7)Now a gamers community is one of the most important things in a console and what is this? xbox live. Ps3 will be releasing internet based such as xbox live, but there is no way they can match xbox live as it is so well developed. We'll just have to wiat and see .

overall, both consoles are high quality gaming machines for HD gaming, but if you crunch up the numbers xbox 360 even though released before the PS3, is technically better than PS3. Yesterday I took back Motostorm and Resistence (never played them through because in my opinion they are good but not great and I bought a bunch of ps2 games instead. I also bought Virtua Fighter 5 which I think is a great game but heck... The ps3 has hardly any good games atm but it does have some nice games coming. Only I feel myself saying the saying thing over and over again but they havn't come yet :(

Can I be bluntly honest; I try not to be bias; IMO opinion the PS3 has thus far not shown anything that makes me go WOW; but for the 1st time I see a game that makes me think yes the PS3 can perform after all, the game is Heavenly Sword; and before you all start I am sure the Xbox-360 could handle this game contrary to what someone stated last night; what I will say is that H-Sword is very different in terms of game engine used, I prefer Assasins creed; but lets just say that both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have promising games.

Stupid list. They compare all the 360 games that were released from more than a year ago until with PS3 3 month old games. They should have only listed the 360 games that were released before june 2006 so the comparison will be much more fair.

START - A lot of things people have said about the CELL processor is true. There is no denying the facts. The Cell is not a Chip made for Gaming in mind. It's just not gamers. You don't have to be a Senior Engineer to understand the big difference with general Purpose CPU's, just read people. I know it comes with a lot of Jargon, but don't get stuck on the Teraflops per sec numbers.. there is a lot more then just Tera/Gigaflops involved.

A. Sony had Blue-Ray in mind when they decided to utilize the CELL fro the PS3. The more and more I ponder Sony's strategy, the more, it seems like to me they wanted to come out with a great HD Player, and games were second fiddle. The cell's SPE's "appear to be designed more for serialized streaming math code, more common in video codecs and audio processing, the traditional domain of digital signal processing chips."

B. Not that it's a bad thing, but in the Face of Stiff Competition they let the Door wide OPEN early on, which I think will hurt them, but not kill them of course. I'm a strategist, so thats what I like to comment on. I can't understand why Fanboys cannot understand, well if you ONLY play, just one console, then you are THREATENED of course, unlike gamers that might eventually own BOTH.

-What have Sony done to let Microsoft gain MARKET-SHARE, STEAL EXCLUSIVES, and ESTABLISH its BRAND-NAME?

1.Implemented the CELL, which will be tough to program very early on. Most of todays application on PC's and such really haven't to begun just programming in multi-threaded environments. I mean, look at the PC games that take advantage of multi-Core(Well not many). So yeah it hurts Sony early one, and especially Sony is not known for it's great developers Support.(thats Fact)

2. Implemented BLUE-RAY, which has hurt Sony very early because of the Price(nuff said). Of course trying to beat Toshiba to the market in this all out format war(eventhough some people like to think it's going to end soon.

3.E3 2006(nuff said), They were no where ready and it showed.

4.DEVELOPERS Kits, I was talking to a guy(Lead Animator for this gaming studio) and he told me some of the same things I had just written and one that I didn't know about, which caught me by surprise, was that, the Cost of DEVLOPER KITS. He was currently making games for the Wii, one of the main reasons. Wii SDK cost around $1300, Xbox360 about $15,000, and PS3 about $30,000. Now Last gen you probably had one kit Per Programmer but jeeze, $30,00 for a SDK, how many lower tiered Developers will have more than 1 kit? Again back to my point, Less games of course early on. He also stated, the Wii will see plenty of new games, you just wait.

C. Now all of these factors does not mean PS3 will not fare well in the long-run , because I think it will. Back to my Point in strategy the longer it takes to get all these factors rolling the better it is for the COMPETITION.

END - That is why, I didn't like Sony's strategy this time around, because they have let the Door wide open, not that it matters to me, eventually I'll own all but for now I have the Wii and 360. Really, can you blame me? As of now. Oh yeah I've had no issues and red rings so there ya go. I'm a strategist, I see good things later on for Sony but I see great things for MS as of now, and as the underdog, they will do great this gen, while not having to be NUMBER #1.

I made this article on how the systems are now. You can't just ignore the games the Xbox 360 has now just because the PS3 was a year late. The XBox only lasted 4 years before another one came out. The Xbox 360 has been out for a year and a half already. If you were to buy a system, TODAY, would you focus on only the games that came out in the same window as the PS3?

No. Xbox 360 has 0 games on two dvds right now. In the article, I'm not saying that the PS3 doesn't have potential. I only use facts, no opinions. CrazzyMan, you know PC destroys all in terms of gaming, so I didn't have to make the comparison.

The comparison is fair because I don't live in the past. I don't think to only compare year old games for the Xbox 360.

my PS3's. They are fun. I'm hungover now. Friends and I were up playing Super Rub - A Dub, Gauntlet II, Calling All Cars, and R:FOM all night, hell we even threw in an 'ol PS2 game (Play2) to finish it off. Killed a bottle of Cuervo in the process. My boy's girlfriend passed out on the couch and we just kept playing 8 player Thames and Nottingham on R:FOM.lol

Obviously the games and selection are better on XBOX always have been. The only games that Sony ever had were games for BOTS like Socom(talk about systematic game play), Everquest(again BOTS game, grind,grind,grind), MGS (so over rated, I never liked any of them), GTA (oh ya we've got episodic DL on 360)and we can't forget...uumm...well. To move onto the smaller market you have Kingdom of Hearts and God Of WAR sequals possibly(oh ya they sent GOW2 straight to PS2, maybe they will port it to big brother). It's very obvious to me that Sony and all it's favorite developers got caught blindsided by MS and never really intended a PS3 for some time. The standard of gaming can't be left to Playstation fans as they seem to have none(standards that is)!! If it hadn't been for XBOX's entrance into the market, I wouldn't even be playing games today, they have upped the anti and forced Sony to think before it screws it's consumers. It is quite obvious they had rested a lot on the thought that SONY Brand = PWNED Sony BOTS. The 360 needed that 1 year head start to have any hope of battling a Giant named Sony Playstation they were already dug in long before Microsoft dreamed of making a game console. Microsoft did what they should have and the move paid off. Now they can better battle Sony should be interesting.

I rarely see any PS3 ads whenever I go out to those electronic shops ( not the usual gaming shops i.e., EB Games/Games Wizard etc... ). Even on my mailbox, with all those ad brochures that they chuck-in whenever you take your mail out there are rarely any ads on the PS3, if any it would only occupy a very small portion with just the PS3 and about around ( 5 ) game titles to go with the ad. On most of these brochures, they don't even include any PS3 ads anymore, they'll just advertise the old PS2 ( probably because they could paste in more game titles to sell it ). It's such a pity that up to now Sony has'nt done anything to match what the XBox360 and Nintendo has to offer the public ( great deals/bargains to match... ). Yes, we know the game are coming soon but when is soon? And how soon will they also pull down the price of the PS3? We're still waiting here in Australia for Sony to give us a better deal... Till then...

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
